jhenry1 Posted July 11 #1 Share Posted July 11 Those of you who have been to Reykjavík what are the best choices from DFW. I have been trying to search this out but there are very long layovers. To use Regent air out of DFW business class the price is $6150 per person. The price quoted on the website is $4100 but they said that was from JFK. So they are saying that on the Ultimate upgrade business the price is 4100 per person but that price quoted is out of JFK. Are all the prices quoted in that category out of JFK? Ladys Mom Posted July 11 #2 Share Posted July 11 You probably are better off doing it yourself. On aExpedia there are several airlines with short connections in Boston for $3500 per person.
RELS Posted July 11 #3 Share Posted July 11 Apropos of flights to Iceland, note that Iceland Air Business Class seats are not lay flat. They are like domestic first class seats. The service is great, though, and the price is generally less than other airlines.
Joanandjoe Posted July 11 #4 Share Posted July 11 Airfare for non-stops round trip, business class, is about $2,500 from JFK. The cost from Denver is about the same, and there are other cities with non-stops to Keflavik airport. Refundable Saga class tickets cost only slightly more than non-refundable ones. It might pay to book something DFW to DEN (or JFK or BOS or any of about 10 US cities) and then take the Icelandair flight.

rcandkc Posted July 11 #6 Share Posted July 11 I have found flying in and for sure OUT of Keykavik not fun. BUT…ok…let’s go.
captjohn Posted July 11 #7 Share Posted July 11 The flight out of Boston is NOT an overnight flight, so the seats are not a problem.
Mudhen Posted July 12 #8 Share Posted July 12 Iceland Air goes out of Newark as well. Although the seats don’t lay flat, they’re big and comfy. Not a long flight.

Living in Texas..the first routing offered was to Seattle and then DFW 😳..NO! We accepted to Denver then to Dallas. Those seats get OLD if older. SkystheLimit Posted July 12 #10 Share Posted July 12 Icelandic Air offers a midday flight from BOS. Arrives around 9pm. Huge difference in how you feel versus flying all night. We stayed one night in BOS beforehand. In KEF we stayed at the Marriott Courtyard before venturing into the city the next day.
Bruce61 Posted July 12 #11 Share Posted July 12 We couldn’t fathom the idea of 12 hours or more without lay flat seats. Thus we’re taking the long way, flying LAX to London on American, and then London to Iceland on Icelandair. The worst thing that could happen would be to arrive for a vacation and have a back that is an agony.
CardowMD Posted July 13 #12 Share Posted July 13 Iceland air goes out of BWI too. You could take Southwest, free 2 bags pp, then transfer to Business class. Or try AA to Baltimore, then transfer. Not as busy as Newark.

jhenry1 Posted July 13 Author #14 Share Posted July 13 That is what I was told and if from some other location would need to get a quote.
Rare RachelG Posted July 13 #15 Share Posted July 13 Way cheaper and easier to Don your own. We have done this trip a lot of times. If a day flight, Icelandair is fine. If night, go with Delta.
Rare coljack Posted July 24 #16 Share Posted July 24 We did Iceland Air non-stop from Denver to Keflavik but if non-stop isn't available from airports near you, they connect using Alaska Air in the West and, I think, Spirit in the East. As mentioned, the business class (Saga Class) are the old style, 757 seats but we travelled in daylight and they were very comfortable and service was great. The Saga lounge in Keflavik is one of the nicest we have seen. Their prices are real bargains. On the down side, Iceland Air doesn't keep much of a reserve airplane fleet and significant delays are not uncommon. As much as we enjoyed Saga class on Iceland Air, to be safe we would always book an extra couple days before a cruise, but a couple extra days in Reykjavik is not a hardship.
