Farewell to Take Five...

Just off the Enchanted.  We were told by an officer that the remaining lounge space of Take Five will be converted on the Enchanted & Discovery to more slot machines leaving only the bar to service the casino.  Very unhappy about the demise of Take Five; was great quiet place to hang out during the day & to listen to great music in the evening.  Theremaining  glass cabinet display of Jazz memorabilia looks so sad in there.  Looks like every square inch of Princess ships will soon have to be revenue generating or face the chopping block...:classic_sad:

Take that space to make no smoking slots then.  If you have to get rid of it.

We were OB 30 days last year and Take Five was used mostly for private events.  They could do those in other areas.

Sorry to hear that, but judging by the overcrowded casinos, they need to better utilize the space.

And NON smoking.

Does anybody have an inside purview of when the retrofit supposed to happen?. Just curious if the work will be happening on my cruise starting the 21st? thanks

Ps I'm kinda sad, would have loved to sit and listen to jazz at night with a martini in hand...sigh

I know it's happening on the Discovery in October.  Not sure of timing for Enchanted, it hadn't happened when we were on her last May.

ETA:  Happened on Enchanted in June

I didn't catch the fact that the refit already happened on the Enchanted and that they were taking it even further by putting in even more machines.  That is sad for those who want a quieter space to listen to music.  As a casino player I like having more non-smoking options but taking away space that can be used by all when there is precious little lounge space on the ship stinks.

I think they should make Take 5 the smoking area since it has doors. Then the casino could be smoke free.

On the Enchanted this past July. Take Five had already been converted, but there was still a small lounge area. So they are dumping that for more slots. Looked like a nice area. Kinda sad they are just adding slots to it.

We were told it was just going to be more slots, but part of the casino.  We had hoped it would be NS.

I really wish they would put non smoking slots on to Sky Princess.  We have 3 cruises booked over the next 3 years on Sky.  I love slot machines, but I cannot even sit in Good Spirits without my asthma going into over-drive from casino smoke and sending me for an inhaler.

I don't understand. Take 5 was non-smoking, including the slot machines that were there when I was on the Enchanted in June. Are you saying they plan to make it a smoking area and also have smoking in the main area of the casino?

There is no excuse for having an area like the casino that is open to the piazza as a smoking area. If Princess feels the need to allow indoor smoking, they should keep it away from those who chose to avoid exposure to second hand smoke.

Totally agree.  Didn’t realize it was no smoking in June.

Thanks for that update.  We hate the smoke.

Take 5 is usually a dead space. It's our go to for a quick drink while passing through to the theater because there's never a line.  The casino is always ridiculously packed, so this makes sense.

We were on the Enchanted for 4 weeks in the Mediterranean last summer and Take 5 was packed every night to the point where it was difficult to find any seat at all. It was similar this year in February and March. It may be that it fills up a bit later in the evening. I'm pretty sad about the change. It's the nicest bar on those ships. The rest of them make me feel like I'm in a hotel lobby or train station with everyone walking through.

I am still confused. Were you told that the space that used to be Take 5 is going to be a smoking area?

No, they said it would be part of the casino.  Did not state smoking or non smoking.

Boy it has always been our go to when we sail those class ships for pre dinner drinks and a nightcap as we are leaving the casino

We need an "Agree" button. I don't like what you've said, but I darn well agree!

Actually I misunderstood what the OP was posting.  I thought that they were talking about the Enchanted was making the same changes that happened on other ships.  Except I had forgotten that the Enchanted already did take over half of the lounge space last June.  What the OP just heard is that the rest of the space will be converted to casino space with just the bar itself remaining - the rest will be slots.
