Rare Lois R Posted February 25, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2008 Hi:) Do you have a Steinmart nearby? Or Dillards? Or any major dept stores? I have always found plenty of dressy items at both of the ones I mentioned. Good luck with your search:)

Checked ebay...nothing. Help! Anything by Cache, Mary J. Couture, Sky, and BCBG Max Azria. Search all on ebay for the best deals. I can usually find the Sky tops for under $100 whereas they retail for closer to $200.

Hoyaheel Posted February 25, 2008 #10 Share Posted February 25, 2008 I noticed a bunch on clearance at Sierra Trading post earlier today (www.sierratradingpost.com) I think this is my favorite but it doesn't come in my size:( "Glitzy" can mean a lot of things. Is there a particular style you're looking for?
celbercrz333 Posted February 26, 2008 #11 Share Posted February 26, 2008 With prom season around the corner, you might find something that way. However, if you're a plus size like me (size 18), then you need to look online at plus size catalogs. They have all kinds of items for wearing to a wedding. You might rethink the velvet and go for more Springlike fashions.
hillside Posted February 26, 2008 #12 Share Posted February 26, 2008 Chicos and White House, Black Market have lots of glitzy tops. Check those stores. Good luck!
Chesneygirl Posted February 26, 2008 #13 Share Posted February 26, 2008 I was just at Ann Taylor loft and they had some gold glitzy tops there and a few silky/satiny black tops as well. All were on the clearance rack. If you don't have one near you try them on line.
crewmom24 Posted February 28, 2008 #14 Share Posted February 28, 2008 I've bought 3 different glitzy tops on e-bay in the last couple weeks. The most I paid was $19. Search formal tops.
crewmom24 Posted February 28, 2008 #15 Share Posted February 28, 2008 Oh, and I also bought one at Steinmart for about $12 last week. I think the regular price was $60. Now I have so many, I may have to wear a formal top every night. Crown Princess 3-15-
sailorwife Posted February 28, 2008 #16 Share Posted February 28, 2008 I bought a beautiful silver sparkley sweater set very dressy for our cruise to caribbean and I washed it before I left and oh my heavens I had silver every where and on everyone that got close to me, so I will wash a few more times in hopes it will tone down some, but it did look very nice. sailorwife:(

gypsyrose Posted March 3, 2008 Author #19 Share Posted March 3, 2008 WOW! Unbelievable. You guys are amazing. I have spent over an hour at the sites you named. I did bid on a hot pink beaded top on ebay. Never done this before so not even sure if I know what I am doing. Just didn't want to spend more than $25 and have absolutely no time to head to Charlotte. Nothing in my town. Thanks guys, a bunch.

sandij Posted March 5, 2008 #22 Share Posted March 5, 2008 Just be careful, those beaded tops weigh several pounds and there are all those airline weight restrictions now.

Carnival Game Posted March 5, 2008 #25 Share Posted March 5, 2008 I'm not a regular customer of ebay. I just took a look and it appeared you had to have an account name and bid? I just wanted to make a purchase. Everywhere I look, it seems either the dressy clothes are heavy/wintry looking or totally sleeveless. Cruising in May so I don't want something like the former. OTOH, my upper arms are very heavy and I'd look awful in something sleeveless. I need a short sleeve dressy looking top but they seem hard to find.
