abhb Posted December 16, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2008 My DH thinks that it is not necessary to bring an outlet strip. I think it is. How many plugs are in a non-suite room? We will be bring 2 ipods, 2 cell phones and a digital cameral. We will be on the Jewel this Friday.
Bookish Angel Posted December 16, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 16, 2008 I have cruised many times and have never taken a power strip. Then again, I don't travel with an Ipod or a cell phone and the digital camera battery charges overnight in the room's outlet.

wrp96 Posted December 16, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 16, 2008 There is one american style outlet with two plugs and one British or European style outlet (sorry don't know which one, just know I can't use it).
harry0 Posted December 16, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 16, 2008 Unless you will be charging everything at the same time you should not need one. I am not sure how many outlets there are. I usually let my phone die on a cruise and I love it!!
pmshirl Posted December 16, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 16, 2008 I say take one! With all those items, and limited ( maybe 3 total outlets) you can sure use it! Then if you have a curling iron, electric razor, that adds to it too!:p
scoruntt Posted December 16, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 16, 2008 Just bring it, It dosn't take up that much space. Nor does it weigh much. Scoruntt P.S. Your on vacation no phones except for an emergency!!!

We will be bring 2 ipods, 2 cell phones and a digital cameral. We will be on the Jewel this Friday. The electric outlets on the Radiance class are a little awkward. We've found we need an outlet strip because our camera charges (2 digitals, different chargers) don't easily fit in the existing outlet on the desk. PhoenixCruiser Posted December 16, 2008 #10 Share Posted December 16, 2008 We forgot it once and now just leave it in the suitcase. What a pain without it! Same here -- forgot it once and we will NOT make that mistake again :p ###
wrp96 Posted December 16, 2008 #11 Share Posted December 16, 2008 Same here -- forgot it once and we will NOT make that mistake again :p ### Me either. It was a $100 mistake - did you know it costs $7.95 per minute to make phone calls from the ship?
dolfandude Posted December 16, 2008 #12 Share Posted December 16, 2008 And you will be recharging all these at once? Why not? about 1/2 or less amps than the outlet should provide. Especially needed when you're only in the cabin at night. Take the power strip.
Miss Vickie Posted December 16, 2008 #13 Share Posted December 16, 2008 :DSo, what do you get for winning the bet?:D
cb at sea Posted December 16, 2008 #14 Share Posted December 16, 2008 We've never needed a powerstrip---I use my hairdryer and curlers....the phone is off until the last night (when I plug it in and use it for an alarm)...

We will be bring 2 ipods, 2 cell phones and a digital cameral. We will be on the Jewel this Friday. Interesting bet. It is a bet your husband will always win regardless if one swears on an outlet strip or not. :D Let's take your 2 Ipods, 2 cell phones and a digital camera. You can charge your camera while getting ready for dinner. You can charge the Ipods while at dinner and your cell phone at night or anytime you use only one outlet. It is more inconvenient but can be done. Inconvenience does not mean "a necessity". Your husband is a very smart man. He put you up for a bet you will always lose. :D
waterbugohio Posted December 16, 2008 #16 Share Posted December 16, 2008 Instead i just bought a adapter that turned one plug into three. Alot smaller and I did use it one night.
Crackerjack Posted December 16, 2008 #17 Share Posted December 16, 2008 On the Mariner, there are 3, one in the ceiling of the bathroom which is unusable, and 2 on the desk. There are others behind the seens (hair dryer, and TV) but thy are not accessible. I would Highly recommend bringing one.
crusinmama06 Posted December 16, 2008 #18 Share Posted December 16, 2008 did you know it costs $7.95 per minute to make phone calls from the ship? Yep, I unfortunatly had to learn that the hard way when my CARNIVAL card was shut down onboard RCCL Freedom for "security purposes" and my cell phones were out of service ;) Yeah that's sounded fishy to me too...lol. :p But honestly abhb - I have never traveled with a power strip. I have enough stuff to bring with me without adding in that too. ;)
reallyitsmema Posted December 16, 2008 #19 Share Posted December 16, 2008 We have stopped bringing a power strip with us, we never used it. We had 3 cell phones, 3 ipods, a dvd player and 2 digital cameras. Never had an issue charging anything.

scayuga Posted December 16, 2008 #22 Share Posted December 16, 2008 As many have already alluded to - unless you are planning on recharging everything at the same time and each takes an inordinate time to recharge - the power strip is probably not necessary. cruiserbryce Posted December 16, 2008 #23 Share Posted December 16, 2008 we usually dont even charge our phones b/c they spend the whole week turned off and in the safe...the only things we use the outlets are iPods and the laptop
MilliesMom Posted December 16, 2008 #24 Share Posted December 16, 2008 We have taken one on our last two cruises. It is a nice convenience, not a necessity. We have 2 cameras, 2 cells (those are off all week of the cruise and in the safe), a DS Nintendo, sometimes an IPOD too. It doesn't take much room in the suitcase, so now we pack it. ALSEAU Posted December 16, 2008 #25 Share Posted December 16, 2008 We always take one with us. Don't need it every day but when we do it takes a lot of unnecessary stress out of our cruise. Ours is not a power stripe but more of a one foot cord with three outlets, Does not weigh much and takes up very little packing space.
