A friend who works at Victoria University posted these photos yesterday. Riverside car parks looking towards Flemington Racecourse. Somewhere under there is a busy road bridge. -

Hi Gut. I feel for you mate. -
Kangaroos are mostly pretty quiet. Males fighting (especially western and eastern greys) can be pretty noisy with grunting etc noises. Females can make soft clicking noises to their young.

Still in Perth and took mum to visit dad’s grave at Pinnaroo. “Lawn” cemetery in a bushland setting. Obligatory kangas.

Mum is just going on 92. Her various carers tell me how excited she was when I told her I was on the way. I was discussing with my sister who lives in Perth about independent living and moving into residential care. She hates the idea, but secretly told me that she had put herself on the list for the place dad had lived his last while. very good news about your daughter. As a academic it was the type of news we always appreciated about our graduates.

Yes, first time since Dec 2019. Very good to see mum and other family members again. Mum has aged significantly. the photos are of the main hq and bakery buildings of the Mrs Macs pie business. Often mentioned in this thread. It was founded in Perth in 1954 as Bakewell Pies

I hope that they didn’t show that game in New Mexico. Woeful. -
For the first time in 3 years I have been able to leave Melbourne. Flight across the country to visit my mother (92) in Perth. One highlight is Kings Park overlooking the city, and it is the height of wildflower season

Last Thursday the Coral Princess became the first cruise ship into Port Melbourne since March 2020. I walked the 500 metres or so the the waterfront and shot a photo across Hobsons Bay (Port Phillip Bay). Then drove over the bridge to Port Melbourne. -
Cold and windy at Truganina Coastal Park. So no birds. Moved over to the 100 Steps of Federation and took some pictures of the Time Beacon. https://www.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au/Community/Arts-Culture-Heritage/Arts-Spaces-Places/Public-Art/Collection/Time-Beacon

Here is something. I went to work today for the first time in 3 years. I think I am out of practice and overdressed -
Somewhere around 2012-2015 or so, Victoria introduced a scheme that allowed SCs to apply to be grant QC status. It was widely taken up.
-
More, real this time, changes: all barristers with the title QC automatically changed to KC. I don’t now the implications for court cases, but probably big stationery bills. The Victorian Parliament sits today. Under the state constitution, all members are required to swear allegiance to the new monarch before taking their place.

Australian Visa for US Passport holder
Docker123 replied to timbom's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Interesting reading on the State Dept site about Australians who do not qualify for an electronic visa. Wait time for an interview — 300 days. It advises to apply early.
