  1. Sunday, 2/4/23. Australian F1 Grand Prix here in Melbourne. Race starts in about 2 hours. The Albert Park Track is right across the Bay from where I live, so car noise can be interesting.mostly depends on the wind, still non at the moment. We had some type of warm up at 8am and heard it clearly. Hear what happens in the next while. Basic area of the track, to the right of Station Pier. Lots of things flying around. A spitfire and a helicopter.
  2. The voice on a bunch of those devices is Karen Jacobsen.
  3. Over in Perth for a wedding and other family things went walking at Lake Monger with my sister from Brisbane. Pinked eared ducks
  4. I have been passed this house hundreds of times, admiring the growing sculpture display. As Saturday morning was a lovely 30C degrees, walked down
  5. Franklin has a history of high tackles, bumps, elbows. Often getting off, somehow. The current situation makes it more challenging as there has been a class action lodged against the AFL due to concussions.
  6. Not sure if NoWhiners is joining us tonight. Mr Franklin 2 early goals
  7. When I was at uni in the states, we had to have an i94 visa. It was a long time, but still temporary visa.
  8. At 36, Buddy is the oldest player in the league. Currently only contracted for this year. He is still carrying a leg injury (as most of the last few seasons). Expected to play the first game, Saturday night against Gold Coast.
  9. This is the type of comparison map I have shown to some. Physical size, plus big coast line
  10. Fifth day of autumn, sunny, hot (32), a bit windy. A little rain shower a couple of days ago and purple fungus has popped up all around town. Last time this happened, about 6 years ago with yellow bikes, citizen action occurred. Bikes end up trees, in bushes, on top of building, just bike pile and other vandalisation, many in rivers of the bay, etc. I have not seen any of these being ridden
  11. Directions are important with cruises. Make sure you pay close attention https://www.escape.com.au/news/new-york-man-flies-to-sidney-montana-instead-of-sydney-australia/news-story/22d190ac7b32eea7ceefc9900fc9ca49
  12. There are several bottle shops in Bay Street, Port Melbourne. Quite close to the pier.
  13. The kookaburra is a largish kingfisher. Very pretty, and the laughing kookaburra has the famous call. There are other kingfishers in Australia, typically about 2/3 or less in size. This is a sacred kingfisher from a park near my house. Taken a couple of years ago.
  14. Driving north as part of a world cruise. A couple of stops on the east coast
  15. Well, been away for some weeks, with no internet access. So, nothing for a while. Sunday morning had a little wander at Bunyip State Park, not much to see. Yellow tailed black cockatoo Strange bug on strange fungus Rather large, and annoying, fly
  16. The International Airshow is at Avalon Airport in Melbourne this coming weekend. All sorts of planes are coming from around the world.
  17. I am planning a non-cruise trip to Japan with my children in a few months. Obviously, Covid on the mind (daughter has had it, neither my son nor I have). Speaking to my gp today, she encouraged dose 5 as extra security. She even checked to see if any opened vials were available today leading up to 20 Feb official date.
  18. Avoidance is often your friend. Customs don’t like loose powders. That particular brand is for sale in Australia at places like Chemist Warehouse. Avoid Customs issues.
  19. Qantas details. https://www.qantas.com/au/en/travel-info/baggage/carry-on-baggage.html Note the weight and dimensions are enforced.
