  1. Just ask your TA what the commissionable fare is, the rest is port fees and taxes. I personally never worry about it. The total is what it is. But I guess it's important to you.
  2. The real issue is what is possible, the rest is just noise.
  3. Interesting, never run across that before.
  4. Don't know where to even start with inflexible mindsets. 🤠 For those that don't really mind sharing keep in mind that in our experience many times we've selected sharing and wind up by ourselves. I've gone to the reservations person on the first or second day and had all of ours changed when I once forgot to book them until 2 or 3 weeks before the cruise. Yeah, I was distracted by more important things at the time. We had cruised previously with the person in charge of that, and she likes my wife, so we wound up with 6:30 2 tops for all 4 restaurants. My point is that all kinds of things are possible when you're not so rigid.
  5. Is this the only port that has this restriction in Chile?
  6. Also be aware that Oceania does not refund port fees for missed ports.
  7. I get your point, but as you're always going on about, it's completely subjective. In all fairness this is in addition to the eating options that have always been available.
  8. Did you have a question about it?
  9. Do you maybe think being in the Owner's Suite might have had a bit of pull in making this happen? I've never asked for anything like that but would be curious. I do know they definitely take care of high value guests.
  10. But this wasn't on Oceania, right?
  11. As you might have noticed, Oceania doesn't break out taxes and port fees separately. That might change after July 1st when they no longer have a price with air. I think this has to with the California Honest Pricing Law that takes effect then.
  12. I'm really lost as to what that has anything to do with Oceania reservations.
  13. They did say it was an O tour. I went on an excellent tour there years ago. I kept their card it was so good.
  14. Yeah, it'd probably be better to cruise on those lines that charge you to eat in the Specialties.
  15. Indian night at the Terrace is some of the worst food I've ever had on Oceania. I'm sure it's me, I like spicy and flavors, just not those.
  16. I'm no pro but it's not about taking their card, it's about taking a card when you shouldn't, which sometimes might be the dealer's bust card. Some people actually get annoyed if you don't take a card when they think you should. Thanks for your observations.
  17. In my experience you're pretty much dead on with that statement. I know some people that are not at all travelled, with little food experience, that are absolutely overwhelmed when they see the names of many dishes. They have no idea what they are and are flummoxed on what to order. On the other hand if they can see it at a buffet, or had it set in front of them they would probably love it.
  18. They’ve never been on Oceania and from the looks of things probably never will.
  19. That makes sense. Be watching for the email that says you triggered the offer. Having said that I did one the other day for HBO Max that I never received the email for but did get the credit on my statement.
  20. That makes no sense at all. These offers are generated by the merchant, why would Celebrity put a stumbling block in the way of using the Amex if they're trying to entice people to use it?
  21. Except for the newspapers everything is available elsewhere on the ship. There is a main concierge available to all on either deck 4, 5 or 6 depending on the ship. Although newspapers other than the daily thing they give you with Currents are not available, the internet is. Pretty much any news you want, except those behind a paywall. Tourist books are generally available in the library, but then again, there's the internet. For me it's much like the Spa Terrace, the times I've had access to them I really didn't use it, so I certainly wouldn't put any value in it when deciding whether to pay extra for the Concierge or higher level. Obviously your experience is different. To each their own.
  22. I've said this ever since the first time I stepped in one of them. But some people like them. There is nothing there that you can't get anywhere else on the ship, and I never have understood it being in an inside room.
  23. I believe you put your statement inside the poster you quoted post. They may not want that attributed to them. To help us understand better though perhaps you could tell us what those other lines are you are comparing to.
  24. Maybe we should hold the assumptions until the details are released.
