  1. This. And others (well, often the same but...) refuse to believe that anyone could like the IVs - much less the solo IVs. But there are those of us who have zero issues with them. Given that the other solo cabin I've seen offered by another cruise line is a 99 square foot interior thing that looks like it has padded walls, I'll happily take the solo IV every time! It's perfect for me.
  2. Nope. They said December 8. Someone in another thread said they were going to start looking today, but everything X released said December 8.
  3. I'm so used to using my passport it is not a burden to carry it. It fits right in the same pocket as my wallet. Out for id, right back in.
  4. But didn't that mean you really paid $440 for the move-up? When I looked into bidding on my Feb cruise the terms made it clear that the bid was PER PERSON DOUBLE OCCUPANCY so solos would pay 200% of their bid.
  5. Technically any beverages should be carried on. Will porters take it? Of course - they want a tip. But if beverages you check do break (and yes, cans CAN break) and damage other people's belongings, expect to be required to pay for repair or replacement of said belongings.
  6. Plenty of people are not superstitious and know worrying about numbers is a bunch of bunk and would have no issues with a deck or a lifeboat 13.
  7. Do you have a set dining time? In that case you'll be assigned to one MDR and the same table (I think). If you have Select, you can make reservations ahead of time. If you want the same server, you'd need to pick the same time for the same MDR and ask the first day if you can be in the same section if not at the same table. Otherwise, you can make reservations for whichever of the MDRs you want - but you won't have the same servers.
  8. I absolutely adored my cruise on the Edge (in a single IV no less) immensely in Feb 2020. One of my best friends was just on the Beyond (on the same cruise that was so horribly reviewed here, in fact) and had a wonderful experience. I'm currently booked on the Apex for summer 2024, though I may change to Beyond or Ascent depending on what they're doing (I'd consider the Edge, but I'm the one weird person who wasn't all that "OMG MUST GO BACK" to Alaska).
  9. And the safe, including checking under the mat in the safe. Once on a cruise on another line, I was putting something in the safe and it was not laying flat. I pulled my stuff out and tried to flatten the mat and discovered a couple of rings. I took them down to Guest Services to turn in, and when they were entering the cabin information a note popped up about a guest from 2 cruises prior in that stateroom who had reported rings missing after their cruise. I guess either my cabin had been unoccupied the cruise prior or the occupants didn't use the safe - or didn't notice things not laying flat.
  10. But again, if there is no signal to go to muster stations, there is no reason TO go to muster stations.
  11. Mine was perfectly fine for me. But like I said, I clearly have simple tastes compared to those who must have suites all the time.
  12. FWIW, not everyone hates the IVs. And the captain does not randomly lock them like people want you to believe. They are only locked in 2 situations - for cleaning, which is announced in the daily informational paper and is usually when in port; or during bad weather when normal people wouldn't be using their balconies anyway.
  13. I'd at least wait until the signal to go to your muster stations sounded before jumping to worst-case scenarios.
  14. I sail E-class in the single staterooms. No issues with supplements or paying for 2 packages. Who knew having simpler tastes would pay off?
  15. Yes, Apex out of Southampton was a different release - I think November 15.
  16. I do for certain things like my church pledge.
  17. Assuming your preferred time is available, make it for the same time in the same dining room - then on boarding go to the dining area to request that you be seated with the same servers every night. May not be exactly the same table, but they should be able to put you in the same section.
  18. It's been taking mine about 24 hours to show in Cruise Planner once I've switched to something that offers it.
  19. They don't really have room to hang passengers' clothes - so I would doubt they would do that. And I'd doubt they'd return them to you wet.
  20. You mean the OBC currently offered? It shows up on my Cruise Planner - seems like lately it's been taking about 24 hours to show, but it should show there.
  21. There are likely stairs that in non-emergencies are crew only but would be opened to be used by passengers in the unlikely event of an emergency. At least there have been on all the other ships I've been on.
  22. Interesting that one gives specific dates and one says week-of. Makes it harder to pin down when it opens.
