  1. You clearly don't live in an area where bread had become "on request" at restaurants - or even worse, on request and with a fee. That brings up even more outrage than serving tilapia!
  2. Except a LOT of these were booked well before COVID so we had no way of knowing that these changes were going to be made. So yes, while we knew they were non-refundable, we did NOT know that all these cuts were going to be made - the deposits were made based on a certain product.
  3. And if cruises are booked with non-refundable deposits? All you get back is $100/person and the rest in a FCC. So though it's not the price of a cruise, X gets to keep most of the money from those and you're out a cruise AND the money.
  4. Thanks! This Kraken variant is definitely giving me more symptoms than Omicron did last year. So far still only like a bad cold...but UGH.
  5. LOVE IT!!! (She types from her bed where she is since she got covid at work (as a teacher)...)
  6. Ditto lobster. It was only fit for slaves and poor people.
  7. Like how if it says "escargot" on a menu many people will be like "OMG MUST HAVE" but if it said "snail" I'd be shocked if people clamored to eat them.
  8. I'm always one to just suck it up and pay more for a hotel at least the night prior than feel crunched for time. On the plus side, FCO is between Rome and Civitivecchia so you're not really going "into" Rome traffic-wise. For me it's WAY too tight though.
  9. Pepsi's attempt to have a caffeine-free lemon-lime soda to compete with Sprite. It has failed and is being discontinued.
  10. I've had my stack of books straightened and I've had them put little velcro things to coil up my cords - i've actually left those on the cords because they do keep things neat. Really NBD at all. They aren't going in your drawers and such. (Even without GoGreen my things are always slightly reorganized in the bathroom, so they do that kind of stuff even without you signing up for the program.)
  11. Though to be fair, if you read the thread (I was curious) it's because Pepsi is discontinuing it and will be introducing a new brand "Starry" to compete with Sprite. (And most - at least on the first page - don't seem upset but are like "Good riddance")
  12. Beyond 2nd cast, Beyond 3rd cast. As a rule, the casts on cruise ships come and go as a group.
  13. Honestly? As nice as extra money and gifts are, the BEST thing you can do to show your appreciation is to mention crew BY NAME on comment cards and/or a letter or email after the cruise. Those mentions are noted in their files and are definitely taken into account when promotion opportunities and pay upgrades come up - IOW those mentions have much further reaching benefits than a one time hand-out. (Please note: I DO still leave my gratuities in place and will give a bit extra when warranted, BUT I also make sure I'm following that up with by-name mentions in communications post-cruise.)
  14. I thought if you didn't pre-pay they would be auto-billed to your stateroom (hence why people line up to take them off)?
  15. When I was on the Edge in Feb 2020 I gave them a recipe for a drink the host of a podcast I listened to concocted and they were able to make it for me.
  16. I did the math of a Classic package, pre-paid gratuities, and basic wifi and when I'd booked as a solo in an OV I came out better with the AI than if I'd bought them separately. You just have to do the math because it seems like a lot of time it's not, but sometimes it is cheaper. (I changed to Prime Aqua so it's a moot point now.)
  17. Pretty sure I did one on my Edge cruise in Feb 2020 where I was in *gasp* a single stateroom with IV (which I loved, BTW).
  18. But that is a snapshot in a half hour period. Unless you're sitting there the whole time - splitting up if there is more than one entry point - counting, you don't know that other people weren't there before or after your brief time to get wine and cheese.
  19. Yes! I've always known she's amazing - when I've booked Disney World trips with her, 9 times out of 10 even before I see info about a discount on the socials, she's emailed me either saying "I changed you to the new promotion" or "You have a better deal" or even "Your room type isn't available, but if you want to change your room type I can get it". This just cemented it even more!!
  20. I guess now I have proof that my TA is awesome!! I emailed her a couple of days ago to upgrade my cabin from an OV to Aqua and gave her the number of the available Prime Aqua with a wake view as my preferred cabin. I didn't even think about the 1 category upgrade thing. But when I got my new invoice from her, the pricing matched the regular Aqua cabins - so she knew what to do to get that discount even when I didn't remember to ask her about it!!
  21. Best. News. Ever!!!! I'm on the July 16 Summit and Radiance Class is my fave RCCL class!!!
  22. I just get screw top wines. I've even gotten them from the France pavilion in Epcot Center - where it's legit French wine. Screw tops ain't just for trash wine anymore.
  23. Ditto. I tried it once when I was on a running cruise on HAL in Alaska and they had surf and turf. I figured that was the time to try it when I didn't have to shell out a small fortune for something I didn't know if I would like. Once our server finally remembered he needed to remove it from the shells and I tried it... Well, let's just say I saw why it used to be called the cockroach of the sea and fed to NOT the upper classes. Lobster is not for me.
