  1. I think you must have been lured by a low base price and as a result, your expectations were set too high. Once upon a time, cruising was an “ all included” vacation, or almost so. It is no longer. Advertised prices are base, lowest cost inside cabins per person. It doesn’t seem like much until you multiply by the number of passengers and add drinks, specialty dining, excursions and more. And upgrade to a balcony or suite. There is still a lot included in the price and many cruisers don’t spend much more than that, if at all. You can still have a great time. It’s up to you whether you want to buy alcoholic beverages or take excursions. But the shows, games, main dining room, pool, etc are available to you. Small compensation, but when a ship drops a port, you are refunded port fees. I would recommend canceling as I think your attitude isn’t likely to improve. Eat the non refundable deposit, book something else on land and forget cruising. It isn’t just Princess. This could have happened with any line.
  2. It’s in the new app as well but worded differently. It says “Request cancellation” there.
  3. I not sure which app I meant but I just found a cancel order option on the old app. I didn’t click it though because I have ordered delivery with no charge and don’t want to make any more changes.
  4. Even better, grab a glass at a bar on the way to the MDR. Our first dinner in a Princess MDR, we waited at least 20 minutes for wine. Never since.
  5. At the buffet, you can ask what items are dairy free. I’ve done that several times and they get someone knowledgeable from the kitchen to walk you through the choices. I don’t think they will make anything special, but at least you can find out what’s safe.
  6. I found one. I guess it’s possible it doesn’t show up for everyone. You have to complete the order and select it to cancel.
  7. I agree that packing at least one pair of long pants is smart.
  8. No one was stopped on CB in March for shorts. In September, we were in Alaska so there were no shorts.
  9. Everyone has opinions and not all agree. The key is in the details. Food? Usually pretty subjective. Shows? None exist that please all. Uncomfortable beds? Plumbing problems? Noisy neighbors? Missed ports? Usually a one off. Is there something missing that you must have? What are folks complaining about? Something important to you?
  10. Your question made me look up pâté. I had always assumed it was made of liver only. I knew it didn’t have to be from just geese but thought it was strictly an animal product. It can even be vegetarian. Now I’m thinking I wasn’t off the mark with my refried beans comment.
  11. You may wait a little longer if sharing, but it will be available. Dress as you like and you will be allowed to dine in the MDR any night. Long pants and a collared shirt will keep people from staring, but don’t appear to be necessary.
  12. How many minutes does that typically last?
  13. Isn’t that the equivalent of leaving food on the buffet? Theoretically I paid for more than I can eat or drink. But I don’t feel the need to exceed my capacity just to watch the cost per drink or meal drop.
  14. You are talking about $20 a day, right?
  15. I’m using them both. My crystal ball refuses to tell me when the old app will be taken offline, so I am trying to learn what I can about the new app in advance and get proficient. I have until 6/15. I can’t expect the old app to last that long.
  16. I had success the two times I used it. There are a lot of variables at play here: which ship, how full, what time of day, how crowded your location is, the server’s mood, etc. I would suggest it’s not a good option for people who stress easily. Your order might not come. It might be long in coming. It might be fulfilled incorrectly. The app might show “delivered” for 10 minutes before it actually shows up. I think it works best for those who are able to go with the flow.
  17. I’ve only embarked on Princess at terminal 2. Disembarkation at 21 was a zoo.
  18. It is possible to cancel the order and start over. Assuming you have time.
  19. It’s February 7 and I’m still using the old app. Best intentions, no doubt, but said Blonde could have tried using the app herself. Instead of passing on bad information, she could have corrected Princess. But that would make her useful and break tradition.
  20. I will say that when I encountered the incorrect birthday which wouldn’t allow me to log in, it was my TA’s fault. It does seem weird that Princess requires a fresh birthday for each cruise when it’s already in my personal data. And I had no way to guess what the wrong birthday was that the TA entered. Chat to the rescue. I hope chat comes up for you. I think that’s the easiest way if you don’t have a TA or PVP.
  21. They can help. My TA loaded the wrong birthday, her finger must have skipped over a digit. I used the chat function and the agent was able to find the problem and fix it in less than 15 minutes. If you get an agent that can’t help, hang up and try again. There are still some good ones left.
  22. Almost no one looks at the BBB website until they have a problem. Of course by then it’s too late.
  23. I don’t think the menu would be a deal breaker for me. But I understand that some will be disappointed, especially on a very long trip. We average one MDR lunch per cruise so far on two Princess cruises totaling 17 days.
  24. I’ve had the pate in the MDR and don’t remember it looking like that. Are you sure you didn’t order refried beans for Mexican night?
  25. Similar question. We will be a group of 6 and don’t wish to be split up. Is there van transportation available?
