  1. I never noticed any. We have stayed in both aft DV1s
  2. It’s really worth the extra cost to visit the Roman homes at Ephesus, some of the best preserved in the world.
  3. I just checked the Viking Daily from our trip last year. There is no shuttle. The cruise terminal is right in town. We took the optional Ephesus tour which ended with a rug weaving demonstration at a shop. Afterwards we walked across the street to the cruise terminal. IMG_9764.mov
  4. Yes, if there is a table available at any of the specialty restaurants, you can eat there every night. There is no limit.
  5. We recently returned from the Chilean Fjords expedition and it was one of most memorable cruises Here is my writeup:
  6. Oops 😬 I just looked at our last VO cruise and it was available. I must have conflated Expeditions, which is never open for breakfast on any day.
  7. Unless it’s part of a B2B itinerary, the restaurant is usually closed on disembarkation mornings.
  8. Weather in the rest of the country is horrible. Lots of cancellations today. Clear and sunny in So Cal today. Go outside and enjoy it while you can.
  9. I suggest time is better spent at the Diocletian Palace. We took the optional tour of the Meštrović Gallery and really enjoyed it.
  10. OP is looking for transportation FROM the ship TO the hotel.
  11. No, it is right in Monaco (Port Hercule). It was originally listed as a tender port but we were able to dock. As you can see from the previous post, only space for one VO sized ship so timing is everything. View from the ship with casino in the background:
  12. Monaco: No shuttle. There is a public ferry that will take you from the dock area across the harbor to the Monte Carlo district and the Casino.
  13. Naples has no shuttle. You dock at the terminal building and upon exiting, public transportation and cabs are available. The docks are right in Naples and there is no need for a shuttle. View from our aft cabin of Naples. You are yards away. The Athens shuttle drops you off at Hadrian’s Arch near the Plaka District. This is a major hub for all the tour busses.
  14. In my experience, PE has no middle seat. That alone makes it worth it.
  15. The OP asked if there were special seating arrangements for solo travelers. The answer is no. Everyone has assumed they are looking to share a table. Maybe they are looking for a secluded table? Just a thought. One one cruise we encountered a guest at an excursion luncheon who had a panic attack when seated with a large group. DW later met him on the ship and he explained he was a solo traveler and had a fear of crowds.
  16. Supply and demand. The 2024 date is almost full (only 3 DV6 left), while 2025 has plenty of availability. Check back in a year and see what the price of your cruise is. Currently 2025 is discounted while 2024 is not and the base cabin price is higher.
  17. Here is a link to an interesting video about how airlines really make their money.

  19. It’s been my experience that on the first day you board they only accept new reservations from people that have no reservations. As soon as you board use the app or go to the World Cafe host (line is shorter than Guest Services) and make your reservations. Don’t sweat the small stuff. There are typically plenty of tables available. You may not get one at opening time, but you will get one. Same for the Chef’s Table. I always wait until I board so I can see what the menu rotation is.
  20. It looks like the new Cities of Antiquity cruise removed the Holy Land and has substituted stops in Sicily and Malta. I also heard that at the World Cruise bon voyage party in LA, Torstein Hagen made a comment about the situation in the Red Sea and they may have to go around the Cape of Good Hope.
  21. I just noticed there is a new Cities of Antiquity itinerary that now includes Malta. https://www.vikingcruises.com/oceans/cruise-destinations/europe/cities-antiquity/index.html
