  1. Many people book deck 3 as it is the least amount of money. Some are gambling that a lower price upgrade will happen 30 days prior to embarkation. The PG fills the top cabins and the bottom cabins first .... Deck 6 & 7 are usually the last to fill 😉
  2. I've booked many times with Avis and Alberts .... Avis has newer cars and in better condition. Albert's has the better price. Actually Albert's will take you to their field office which is in front of the old IC Moorea. Note: on my last trip I rented from Albert's. The car was a bit tired. Several idiot lights were red and I took note. No problems but make sure you take a good peek and note everything in front of the rep and have it noted on the paperwork.
  3. We've done it a few times .... not a problem
  4. Some I like ... some I don't. Love the 2-3-2 seating in economy. Loved the old 340-300 ATN flew fir this reason. The early take-off out of LAX is early for those that are driving some distance to get to LAX unless you stay a pre-night in LA. The return time is solid. Love the new 787's ATN and United fly for their windows and ventilation system. LOS ANGELES – TAHITI (PPT) Will operate Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday on the Boeing 767-300ER Begins Dec. 17, 2022 Los Angeles International Airport – Fa'a'ā International Airport Departs LAX at 11:10 a.m. Arrives PPT at 6:10 p.m. Fa'a'ā International Airport - Los Angeles International Airport Departs PPT at 8:10 p.m. Arrives LAX at 6:40 a.m. (next day)
  5. No PG sponsored 'private BBQ' on Bora Bora. They do have excursions with a BBQ and everyone on the outrigger will be on-board the PG but it is more than simply a BBQ on a motu like Tahaa.
  6. \ we are on the same cruise ... saw you posted on the roll call 🙂
  7. Good to hear ... I've been told that PG is going to start allowing booking excursions 60 days out 😉
  8. I been on her 3 times in the last 8 months ... the ship looks fine and most of the crew we've grown fond of are still on-board. Ponant customer service/web page is still working out some bugs. Miss being able to access my account and booking ship excursions.
  9. We head to French Polynesia soon for trip #2 this year to paradise. Glad we are on our favorite little ship ... the Paul Gauguin. Not to big and not to small ... the perfect size IMO.
  10. 60 days was the norm in the past prior to covid. Then it was 30 days as final payments were not due until 30 days out. For our July cruise some of the excursions were available 45 days prior. So ... just call them and ask when you 45 days out.
  11. ATN United Air France French Bee Hawaiian Those are the major carriers. ATN and United use the 787-900 ... best plane in the air for quietness, visibility and air circulation 😉
  12. I've stayed at the IC Tahiti at least a 15 times ... nothing like the previous poster mentioned for us, not saying it didn't happen to him but it's likely rare as it's never happen to us over the 'decades'. The IC has been going through major renovations the last few years. The IC is looking fine with the exception of the last few areas being renovated. The Hilton is shiny and new .... the rooms and public places are nice and the location is good. However, it doesn't have the same Polynesian vibe as the IC nor does it have OWB's. The IC property is more expansive. If you like new and a bit more modern stay at the Hilton. If you want the more Polynesian vibe atay at the IC.
  13. 6 times on Rarotonga .... most people go to Muri Beach area. Nice hiking trail over the peaks.
  14. Nope ... the rental car must be returned same day if your on a ship. I miss the parking lot ...
  15. Out shooting the Milky Way last night at a 170 year old country cemetery.
  16. Much of the crew that you will come in contact with a the same. Some new French officers ... Chef Paul Ellis is on-board right now, he has been with PG for a long time. My December trip and March trip had fine food, no complaints.
  17. If your not taking a cruise and staying land based plus you don't want to break the bank go to Moorea. Best snorkeling will be on Rangiroa, Bora Bora and Tahaa at the drift snorkel location, next to Le Tahaa Resort 😉 But frankly the best way to enjoy FP especially if this is your first trip is by cruise ship. You see so much more 😉
  18. Closes one to the ferry/docks will be Pharmacie du port .... across from the food trucks location. Look at the list FlightMedic sent you ... it's on there
  19. Taken this afternoon out my window ... 100 feet away sitting on a fence. Sony RX10IV - 600mm, 1/400, F/4, ISO400, considerable crop in post.
