  1. I've recently read that book, it's very funny and there are some recognizable types!
  2. it was on the buffet some mornings on Azura last month, along with vegan baked beans (I thought baked beans were usually vegan anyway!) and heuvos rancheros. A bit dried up but tasty.
  3. some mornings on Azura last month there was smoked salmon and scrambled eggs in the buffet. There was also congee some mornings, which I love!
  4. Boarding in Brooklyn for our honeymoon TA back to the UK, only for my new husband to realise that he'd left his new wedding ring in the hotel room in Manhatten! We eventually tracked it down and it came home solo on the following EB crossing! Sadly the shine was dimmed for the actual boarding but the rest of the trip made up for it. Favourite spot (apart from my beloved Commodore Club) was the low deck where you can sit inside just above the ocean and watch the sea. Perfect.
  5. we upgraded to BA Premium Economy for a cruise with Cunard. We flew Manchester-LHR in normal class then LHR to Vancouver PE. The return was Miami to LHR in PE. BA kindly cancelled our LHR-Man flight on the day of a rail strike but that's a whole different tale. Our TA got us the upgrade when BA had a sale on and I think it was about £350pp.
  6. thanks for your report Selbourne, thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'm pleased you had a good time.
  7. Does anyone know if there is a shuttle in Ishigaki or do we dock so close to the centre that there's no need for one? Visiting on Regetta October 2024. There's a very interesting article about it in the Cunarder magazine and I'm thinking we won't need a tour here.
  8. on Azura last month there were no headphones but it certainly wasn't instrusive elsewhere. The only place you could really hear it was on that particualar part of the deck. Far worse was frequent loud music during the day on the deck behind it. We could always find a quieter spot though. Maybe QA will have headphones, who knows. We did watch a film one evening and it was very cozy, with extra thick mattresses and good quality fleeces.
  9. At least they'll have a good view of the Sea Screen if they look up! We will be in a cabin on that deck, chosen because I like forward high up cabin and also love to be reasonably near the Commodore Club. I won't be crossing the magic line into the Grills section though! I might gaze mournfully though ...
  10. we received it this morning for a Cunard cruise next June. Also never needed assistance.
  11. I can recommend the veggie shepherd's pie. Had it twice it was so tasty - lots of veggies including plenty of mushrooms, no fake meat.
  12. that must be infuriating! On Azura last month there were small folded cards saying "still in use, do not clear" or similar and we used those sometimes when we both wandered off to find more food!
  13. Have a wonderful time, I'm very much enjoying travelling vicariously with you!
  14. we were on for 22 nights in October and there were definitely repeated menus.
  15. We were on for 22 nights recently so I did a little bit of washing. The best time was late afternoon/early evening. I put rhe wash in (took c45 mins on Azura), went about my usual stuff - a drink, read or whatever, came back, into the dryer, set it for 35 mins, went had my shower, came back to collect, hardly anything needed ironing and nothing shrank It barely impacted on my day and saved me taking 22 pairs of knickers with me!
  16. we were on Azura for 3 weeks in October. No White Nights, just normal Celebration/Formal nights.
  17. thanks that's helpful. We are getting the flights, hotels & transfers through our UK TA, so that all should be taken care of.
  18. I had the crepes last week on Azura, absolutely delicious. We were so impressed with Epicurean.
  19. Thanks. Kyoto is the place my OH is most excited about so I might look for a private guide there. We have 2 days in Tokyo pre-cruise & don't go to Nagasaki but I might look for a Tokyo guide for our full day there to make the most of it.
  20. thanks so much, thats very helpful. Yes, we booked 1+ year in advance, I'll contact my TA.
  21. Hi, we are UK cruisers and are taking our first Oceania cruise in October 2024 from Tokyo to Singapore. I have a couple of questions around excursions (and believe me, I've read the various questions on here and I'm still confused!) Are more excursions likely to be added as time pases? Peeople have mentioned a PDF of excursions - how do I get that? We have $1000 excursion credit and my account shows a minimum of 6 excursions to get 25% off. Is that 6 excursions per person? So if I choose 4 excursions that take up the $1000 and then 2 more, does the 25% come off the running total? What happens if I choose a 7th trip? Also, it seems we dock in Hiroshima itself and there is a frequent shuttle service. How easy is it to see the main sites yourself? We're fully mobile, confident travellers many thanks, I'm sure I'll be asking more questions!
  22. Us too, and it's tonight as you say. We might venture ashore for a walk and a Prawn fritter and beer but not just yet!
  23. Thank you to everyone who has recommended the Epicurean. I wasn't too sure about booking, having been disappointed with Cunard's QE similar offering last year. We had the most wonderful dinner there 3 nights ago, so much so that we've managed to squeeze in another evening! The food, service and atmosphere were all spot on. We absolutely loved it. We've also eaten at the Glass House twice and really enjoyed both times. I loved the wine flight idea and tried some I probably wouldn't have tried otherwise. Slightly disappointed with the Beach House, maybe I just chose the wrong thing but it was all a bit overcooked. Sindhu was excellent and we have another meal booked there as well. One other thing that is much better than Cunard is the choice of in-cabin films. A really good selection and we've enjoyed watching a couple in the evening. Also watched a film today in the theatre and also on the sea screen. Love the comfy cushions and blankets! We are continuing to have a wonderful time.
  24. Really enjoyed Sardinia. Found a great market with wine for sale in big vats, €4 for 1.5litres!
  25. Just re-read it and noticed! It was only 1 glass, honest!
