  1. I might be a little biased but my opinions are only based upon the reports I read and hear (YouTube and news channels) about Carnival ships. i.e.- brawls breaking out, drunken people partying, people falling overboard, etc. If it were only one or two occurrences over the years, I might tend to believe that Carnival couldn't be all that trashy but their reputation hasn't changed from many years ago. If Princess and the other mass market cruise lines had similar travelers why don't I see and hear similar stories about them? I tend to believe it's the types of people that choose Carnival in the first place. I guess I'm just judging the book by it's cover.
  2. The must be getting desperate. They're sending me texts to remind me that the show will be on soon. 🤣LOL
  3. A universal remote is not necessary to work the TV's on Princess. The only remote that I use is to control what every device that I use connected to their DHMI input, which lately is my Roku. To change the HDMI input check out this post from SinbadThePorter I'll post a photo of my husbands HDMI extension holder as soon as he's awake- Can't find it right now. It eliminates the need for a long nose plyers making it very easy to hold and push the end of the cable into the socket. Although we haven actually tried it yet it appears that it will work with very little effort.
  4. We changed and now travel for comfort about 25 years ago leaving all the unnecessary items at home, like formal clothing. If I need anything on the ship I'll buy it at the next port or do without.
  5. Yea right ! That'll make me want to participate in their Love Boat party for sure. LOL 😆😆
  6. Looks like we'll be running to the bars for our orders most of the time.
  7. Hopefully they've updated their system to include basic comments by now.
  8. The only difference between going to the bar is that you can specify how you like your drink. i.e.- no salt on a Margaretta, just a little ice, etc. When using the app you get the generic drink.
  9. Since I last posted, my husband has made a 6 inch extension from a piece of pvc tubing to hold the end of the HDMI cable. It should be easier than trying to squeeze you hand behind the TV. I'm not sure if it'll work for the Roku power plug or not but we'll bring a short ac extension cord, just in case.
  10. It might be a little crude, but it certainly describes what you can expect on a typical Carnival cruise ship.
  11. We also had the rolled eggplant dish and thought it was OK but they changed the recipe we remember from previous cruises and just not as good. We would still order it again.
  12. We always loved the cereal in boxes. It was great to take for a snack later in the day when at the beach.
  13. I hadn't received emails for a few years and just recently they've begun again. Something must have changed.
  14. Earlier this year in the Caribbean, shorts were being tolerated on the Enchanted Princess for casual evenings in the DR. You could always count on seeing at least 10 or more guys wearing them each night. My DH was going to wear his but they kept it so cold he decided to stay with his blue jeans for comfort.
  15. The older you get, the less stuffy Princess becomes. 😁
  16. No matter what you decide on to wear on a formal night I think you'll be a little shocked to see what people are wearing to the dining room these days. Ever since the return from Covid, the cruise line is letting people decide for themselves what they consider formal dress. Very few people are turned away from being seated in the DR for lack of real formal clothing. That shouldn't let you from dressing a formal as you like, or not. It's your decision.
  17. So do I....we only travel with one regular size bag for each of us and it still works out OK for carrying it onto the ship ourselves. Of course if I didn't have my husband to lift the bag onto the security conveyor belt I would be checking my bag. Same with us and since we always drive to our local embarkation port we handle our own bags and transport them to the terminal. Why should anyone have to tip someone to move the bags from my car to their luggage rack? I could understand if they actually did a service but not to just move them a short distance.
  18. On the Enchanted I used my Roku to watch my own movies and on occasion some YouTube videos. As long as you can change the input to the TV and have a strong enough signal I can't see why it wouldn't work. In the Caribbean the signal is usually strong. Follow these instructions to connect to the HDMI input. Also- you'll need small hands to get to the HDMI connection on the Enchanted. It's a tight squeeze.
  19. I realize that it's not an option for everyone but just simply carry your bags onto the ship yourself. We've been doing that for years & never had any problems.
  20. Considering that most people order their Medallions to be sent to their homes, there are less & less people standing on lines waiting to check in lately. It should be a speedy process.
  21. I'm glad to hear that, although it can change from cruise to cruise. I'm always skeptical to order a larger piece not knowing if it'll be good or not.
  22. After reading through all these posts I guess I'll just continue to do what works best for me all these years. 😄😄
  23. My DH always participates and makes me shoot a video. At least it gives him something to do preparing for it. 😄
  24. I'll give them a pass from my last experience on our next trip and see how it goes. In past years it hasn't been bad, not great, but acceptable.
