This sounds what some say only happens on yeshiva week. Are you sure this was august? Maybe your memory is off??

Prob should have quit while you were ahead - hope i quoted you okay. I didn’t realize my misquote was actually more spot on. Generalizing a religion on personal experience is probably not a good look for anyone.

Carnivals rope course is like a backyard jungle gym. The sky ride - that they could charge for (but is prob worthless once you do it). Norwegian ropes course is way more impressive.

So the point is - we all don’t know where any money goes to, how it’s divided and when you give tips separately they can be pooled but it’s scout’s honor. Examples of cases where it’s grey… If one tips the room attendant day one and then remove tips on the last day…. Or when one give the maitre d’ a 50 and then remove tips … Who can be sure it’s above, extra or the tip that was removed. People will do what they like and these threads will continue.

So what you’re saying is if the entire ship cancel their tips, the staff will be paid the minimum amount anyways?

I’ve been on a few cruises. It’s funny what staff does for extra $$$$. I think in a perfect world you are correct. But in an imperfect situation and where people can opt out and pay nothing and screw the staff - $$$ stays where it’s put.

Any cruise with 25% plus children which these cruises will have are rough - Ive been on summer cruises and they are terrible. You don’t expect this January but can happen.

They are not all part of a group. It’s people booking for the kosher option and it’s capped at 300/450 depending on sailing. The others are eating tv dinners possibly wrapped fish. They all booked like the average shmo books.

If they do they do - if they don’t they don’t. But people can feel they gave to the person they wanted. When you hand cash to the crew in your room with no cameras around - it’s scouts honor what they do and I know what scouts usually do!

If people have an issue with the way the tips may or may not be split they can tip on their own - either remove the tips and give money or just give extra. I know this is taboo to say remove the tips and give but its an option and carnival lets you.

Mine showed up 1 week later on my last cruise which i got double points for a suite.

The people who buy pictures get the cheers package and the more one drinks the more savings they “think” they get.

No ship year round -

The cdc should focus on illness a bit more. The ships are the least of their issues.

This ship cannot be worse than Sunrise which was in NY a few years ago. I wont go on Carnival in the summer from NY anymore - the riff raff on the ship is too much. My last cruise we had people sitting outside their rooms in lawn chairs and smoking the goods stuff everywhere. It does happen on all the ships but less than Carnival. Carnival is leaving again next December and then no ship in NY which is not so bad because the other options out of NY are better than the ships they have been sending up here.

They seem like they never going back to SJ and they are pulling out of NY again year round - The other options are prob better anyways - pay a bit more but get a bit of better product.

She has been crying for years - the Sunshined ships are in my opinion the worst in the fleet with the Sunshine being the best one they did - but they are old, too many people and poorly kept up. Carnivals product is the same on every ship I have been on. Pick a different ship but the last time I was on the magic (which is much younger and a better class ship) it was also not kept up too well.

The shows on anthem are not so great. You will get a seat I can guarantee. The ship has home ported in NY/NJ for so long that most people have seen them multiple times.

I would prob bet against you on this. Odds are you raise prices on people after they pay - they find ways to get value. Not all but enough… money correlates to money - logical.

can we get rid of the damn speakers that people play loudly as well??

Booked three rooms last January(2023) and canceled one kid 3 days before cruise. The remaining child got double points. The catch I believe is you must cancel the guest before cruise. No show is No extra points.
