  1. Those ones suck on the eurodam in my opinion. Clearly for others too since that “mistake” wasn’t repeated on subsequent ships.
  2. I believe you should be able to. I think the balconies are smaller so keep that in mind. I thought I read that someone upgraded to a vs which I wouldn’t think you could do but I’ve never tried. I’ve just gone from the obstructed balcony to a v which I’m happy with.
  3. I suspect it’s going to vary by ship. When I was on the koningsdam I wanted the salmon in the mdr which you can perch on salads but I wanted to sub it in the the daily fish. The waiter said I’ll see if I can do that. That was puzzling to me since I wasn’t asking for something that wasn’t there. I’m assuming, perhaps wrongly that if I tried to order from the lunch menu and the mdr wasn’t open the answer would be no. Other ships may be fine with it. I suspect no one has tried to do it so maybe the op will try and report back.
  4. I believe she meant for the two of them. If you remove the grats they crew will have to hand in the additional. Just to be crystal clear I meant I keep my grats in place and tip additionally if warranted.
  5. I’m not sure but I have heard that complaint more on pinnacle ships.
  6. I’ve always had to pay. Others have reported otherwise.
  7. Oh I so would have taken the upgrade to the pinnacle suite 😛👏😉. That’s one for the books.
  8. It’s been my experience that it matches the mdr. On the koningsdam it was 7:30 to 9 for breakfast on port days and 8 to 9:30 sea days. It opened at night at 5:15 or 5:30 until 9.
  9. I’m sorry to disappoint you but the vista suite may disappoint if you are used to balcony rooms. I did a 2 week cruise on the koningsdam. The first week I had a balcony room with a large balcony . Second week I took a very reasonable upsell to a vista aft suite. I’ve had balconies over that after before but the vibration was crazy on this ship. The room was barely bigger and someone stole 😛 part of my balcony because it was so small. I wouldn’t do it again.
  10. From what I understand you have to do it across the board like up your grats by $5 a day for instance. I generally leave certain people more but I’m not terribly interested in doing it for everyone as I feel it adequate already. This is my opinion only of course about it being adequate.
  11. Sounds to me that the poster I was quoting is a brand new cruiser. It sounds like they believe the drinks will be flowing. I don’t think that is a reasonable expectation. Yes if you get invited to a cocktail party there will be drinks. I can tell you I’ve never been invited to 2 cocktail parties in a week but I don’t book suites nor get casino freebies. I don’t think that parties happened to me until I was a 4 star or maybe when I did a b2b cruise. I haven’t seen food at a cocktail party for at least 4 of 5 years. Ymmv.
  12. I've a 5 star with hal (500+ days). I can tell you it's rare that I've ever gotten free drink. You'll be paying.
  13. No, sorry it doesn't. Just because you agree with it doesn't make it so. We both know exactly what it means. I noticed you skipped over cruisemom42 reply because it doesn't support your narrative but speaks the truth. Thank you for taking the time for your review.
  14. There wasn’t reviews because for the longest time you couldn’t do a review on the hal website. You might be able to now. It really doesn’t have anything to do with the pandemic, just Hal’s struggle with technology.
  15. Sometimes I wonder if hal does this to see if they can get away with it. So shady! I hope you get your money back.
  16. Yes I know people pretend that’s true. If I’m at work and my boss tells me I recommend you do this work. I can tell you without a doubt it doesn’t mean it optional. If it was optional it would say exactly that. I’m not going to derail this thread so I won’t be discussing it further. We both know what it means if we are honest.
  17. I don’t see anywhere on hal site that masks are optional. Here is the wording below. Somehow people see the word recommended and change the word in their mind to optional. Was there somewhere else that states it’s optional? Mask PolicyMasks on board are recommended but not required indoors or outdoors*. We highly recommend guests wear a mask in the World Stage and other entertainment areas, casino, spa treatment rooms, Club HAL and during other congregate events. For more details, view our FAQs.*Masks are required on the ship indoors on Alaska cruises that sail between Whittier to Vancouver and on buses/trains on Cruisetours.
  18. I'm so happy this finally worked for you but why do people need to go out of their way to make things harder? It should have been easy. I think some TA's want the commission but not the work that goes along with it.
  19. Yes I've done that as well and the laundry manager called me as well. This was on the Koningsdam in March. Maybe it was the same ship :). I really like the let us know feature.
  20. I’m not generally wanting to tip everyone more so I likely wouldn’t increase the overall tip. I almost always give extra to my cabin steward. I used to leave tips in the specialty restaurants but I don’t do it as much now that 18 percent is added. I don’t tip the laundry on every load, that is excessive to me. I feel once or twice a cruise works well to me.
  21. I’m the laundry person at home so no. I got some red sauce on a yellow jacket last time. I thought I could never get it out but they did. If you don’t want to tip then don’t but what is with the eye roll?
  22. When I saw your crackers I thought wow how “fancy” 😛 having crackers. Then I saw you brought them. That is crazy about the meet and greet. It shouldn’t have been a surprise to them. I only got chocolates on dressy nights on the koningsdam. Sometimes not even then. Maybe they ran off with the crackers 😀.
  23. Same. I've put it in the laundry bag with a note in an envelope.
  24. Just look at the first page of cc. Always a thread of two of people getting free deals. Heaven forbid that you say anything because I got ripped a new one when I did along with another poster. Posts have since been removed. I wonder how long they'll last without paying customers.
