  1. You are misquoting me. Any for-profit company is required by law to act in the best interests of their shareholders. This is almost always consistent with treating their customers well. However, some decisions made by a company may result in some customers not being happy. Regent obviously decided that, with over 600 showing up for the cruise, that they didn't need to issue refunds. I would have offered a FCC to those who did show up. The idea that Regent would intentionally bring people to a vey dangerous area is simply not a realistic concept. They simply have never and would never do this. I hope those of you who did show do receive a FCC for the loss of some very nice ports.
  2. Probably in the same clubs together I would guess.
  3. That's about a mile west.....small world.
  4. I hear you. The number came from a public filing from NCLH. Is it the Short Hills Mall? Edit - didn't see Paula's post but I grew up right there.
  5. I am not saying they are right. However, there are only a fixed number of cabins and they are at a projected 103% occupancy. Perhaps this is a reason they are slowly making adjustments for cancellations/FCC's.
  6. On the other hand, NCLH's top priority are the stockholders. If they felt they could be more profitable in the long run by issuing refunds they would certainly do so. One can only assume that they analyzed the situation and felt it was not the path to follow at this time otherwise they would have done so. Still, as I noted in the beginning, this is a fluid process and I have seen similar situations in the past that evolved through multiple steps until finally resolved...as this one has already begun to do.
  7. I would bet that we have averaged 1 deck BBQ per 40 nights over our journey form 1 day onboard to Titanium (5 year period). We would love more but that is what we have seen. The #1 cost is typically fuel...so much so that the captain's compensation if often tied to consumption. There is also an incredible amount of food waste that they are trying to cut down on. NCLH is reducing non-fuel expenses by 15%...they have no choice. Interest rates are killing all the cruise lines. We have seen no lessening of service since Covid but there are a huge number of new people for a variety of reasons. The full staff is not on the Grandeur yet...they are shipping in stages as needed. The issues impacting Regent are impacting all cruise lines. The grass is not greener. And no - I am not a Regent Fanboi. I have my own list of complaints that I call them on...just not this.
  8. Block party is Captain's decision based on risk of of communicable disease on board. Open air BBQ is not on every cruise as it depends on weather, sea conditions, port departure time, etc. It is more expensive to go into a port than to hire a couple of dancers.
  9. They do not always put all the guests in the same hotel.
  10. Believe it or not, I also think the offer of a FCC is appropriate here. I have seen these types of interruptions in the past and know, from this experience, that the process can take multiple steps with the final decision being more favorable for the clients than the initial decision.
  11. Apologies and I will do what I can to share info that is more helpful.
  12. I think the final offers will be much improved. Just opinion.
  13. That is better then saying "No refund!" I've also heard they are issuing FCC now.
  14. I've been posting every day...thanks for thinking about me!
  15. They pulled Egypt off yesterday morning I think. No NCLH cruises to Israel until Jan 1, 2024 at the earliest.
  16. You paid $175pp and $973 to upgrade - that should be recoverable. They can't charge you for something unless they have your permission or the contract allows them to. No one has heard of these costs before. If it were me, I would ask your TA to have their BDM at Regent look into this. The BDM can pull the audio recording the phone call and see exactly what the Rep said and if it is legit or not.
  17. If you paid for flights that you didn't get you can charge that back.
  18. I've not heard of this before either but I can call and ask...
  19. NCLH has cancelled all stops in Israel for all 3 lines through the end of 2023.
  20. Did you buy it directly or through your TA? Did you ask what it covered?
