  1. Pre covid we did, we rented a car from YVR to BLI. Don't know if one way rentals are still available.
  2. We were onboard in Feb, we ate in the Spa cafe several times. Lunch was the typical pre plated salad type stuff. There was a turkey sandwich which could be made to order (i dont do mayo). Plus the usual juices and smoothies. Were not early risers, we enjoyed breakfast a couple of times. Don't recall what we had but it was good enough to go more than once.
  3. Looks like 2B. We’ll probably just return the car first.
  4. We were in a forward facing slanted cabin on deck 8 port side. We thought our neighbors were smoking, it was the smoke from deck 5 forward smoking area. If you don't like smoke, go starboard, unless you are on a higher deck. Since the balconies are deep and the dividers go all the way to the railing, we have never experienced more wind in a forward facing unless we are standing at the railing and even then not really unless extreme weather.
  5. We were in EC in Dec and Jan, so envious, but we will be back in May. is Captain Leo still at the helm? Seems like he is due for vacation soon. Enjoy
  6. We have disembarked in Honolulu previously but this will be our first time boarding a ship there. Is it easy enough to get into the port area in a rental car to drop off our bags early, then leave to drop off our car at HNL?
  7. I’m loving this review, we did a similar itinerary last month so I can relate to the itinerary, I also am having fun seeing it thru Gen Z eyes. We loved meeting the lovely ladies from Kenya…Mercy, Pauline? and the barserver in Luminae (i know its not Kezia, but similar?), their smiles would always make my day. If you havent tried the other adult Camp at Sea, the World Class Bar, Shetty is great. Looking forward to your next installment.
  8. Where are you cruising? I believe TA and TP cruises currently require vaccination.
  9. Some mid ship deck 6 have larger balconies, did you get one of those by chance. Your travel agent should have explained accurately what a guarantee means. Since you are willing to pay to upgrade, tell your TA and get pricing for a cabin that you will be happy with. Eclipse is a great ship with fantastic crew.
  10. Thanks for taking us with you again, Abby! Can you post a picture of your itinerary (if you still have the daily) so we can see where you are each day? Happy Cruising.
  11. Move up was open for our May 9 cruise more than 60 days out.
  12. I prefer to use my own sanitizer rather than the stuff at the entry to the buffet.
  13. It looks like the bottles are stored neck down, which is correct for the reasons stated above. Good question though.
  14. https://hoponhopoffhilobus.com Just outside the gate of the port in Hilo. Have never done this, but planning on it in May.
  15. Amazing whale pictures. We were on Solstice last month and used Cabo Trek with a small covered boat. We enjoy going to Hawaii during whale season, but Cabo was so much better than I expected. And perhaps the whales seemed more majestic for us because in Mexico the boats are allowed closer (50 vs 100 yards). Our Naturalist and Captain were constantly yelling and blowing the horn at the boats that didn’t follow the correct etiquette and/or got to close.
  16. Ok ships are technically not banned but the decision makes it very difficult for ships to visit. Taking over a public dock with no support from the city would imo not be a good look for any cruiseline.
  17. They didn't have a choice about canceling Monterey, but I wonder why Seattle. We had 2 of our S Pacific ports canceled recently and it became much less desirable for some. No compensation offered, it was also beyond control of X
  18. An overnight in SF gives you plenty of time to drive to Monterey. It would be a full day but doable.
  19. Perhaps they want tourists and apparently have the ability to handle cruise ships.
  20. Try midwilshuttle or Opoli I think the ship transfer is only LAX
  21. Now that you're home I finally read your entire blog, thanks for taking us along with you and Jeremy. One of your posts showed dining times and a luxurious 9:30am end for breakfast in Luminae. All of our recent cruises dining in both Luminae and Blu breakfast closes at 9am. Is that an Edge class thing? Our last 6 cruises have been on either Eclipse or Solstice. Anyway, I can count the number of mornings we’ve asked each other why cant they just serve brekkie until 9:30!
