  1. I think the dining credits option in the app may be relatively new. Until recently it seemed everyone was having to pay to pre-book specialty dining. I wonder if this glitch has to do with whether reservations were made before that option was available or something? I can live with it, but you’re right, it’s a pain for many. My pet peeve is that it’s hard to sort out back to back cruises in the app since they show them as a single trip. Finding where credits are available is hard.
  2. I had the same problem last month for an upcoming cruise. The app showed that I have dining credits available, but didn’t apply them. I’d hoped it would be like many report for the medallion shipping fee where a credit card number is requested but no charge is made. Got charged for both reservations. I was advised when I called the support line that I’d have to just request a refund onboard or not reserve.
  3. I like the Gran Hotel Havana. https://www.granhotelhavana.com/en/
  4. The Journey View Activities Timeline does populate gradually. Groups of activities like casino department events, enrichment talks, production shows etc might pop up all at once. The individual musicians in each venue are usually not posted until you’re onboard.
  5. It will depend on the port. You’ll need to be more specific.
  6. You could start with customerrelations@princesscruises.com
  7. One thing many are not aware of is that the yellow fever vaccine is only recommended for people up to 59 years old. Another is that not having it can limit your ability to travel into a country if you are unvaccinated and you’ve been in a country where yellow fever is a concern. Those two issues would make me want to be vaccinated while I was eligible.
  8. Yes, it’s very important to read your itinerary. Celebrity uses Phu My in the Vung Tau Seaport as their port for Ho Chi Minh City. I don’t think that they or Royal Caribbean have any ships small enough to actually go to the Ho Chi Minh City Seaport. It can be a real challenge to find the correct seaport complex name for individual ports.
  9. No, tokens were free on the Caribbean Princess in August
  10. We are onboard as well. I asked about laundry tokens at guest services yesterday and was told that free self service laundry is not available as an elite benefit, only sending laundry out. They said actually does vary from ship to ship.
  11. I have no idea if that is Princess’s policy or an error or outdated information on their website. You might try asking in the Princess forum or on a roll call for one of their sailings.
  12. You can always eat in the Main Dining Room. Anytime dining works like eating at a land-based restaurant. You can make reservations for whatever time suits you for a particular day or just turn up and wait for an available table when the mood strikes you.
  13. It’s a little surprising to think it hasn’t existed for years even though the pandemic feels like yesterday sometimes. I rarely went back in the day and like having Happy Hour drinks at any bar much better. To me it was a big improvement when I was given more choices.
  14. The itinerary you mentioned would be one I’d suggest, but I prefer going north to south to get the longer flight over with at the beginning of the trip. It also gives you the option of a land tour first which I highly recommend! One thing to know is that the narration at a Glacier Bay is usually given from the port sid perspective so if you are on the starboard side in your balcony you won’t see what is being described until the ship rotates (it always turns 360 degrees so everyone gets the view). Obviously it’s not a problem and most people like to be on deck. The view in the inside passage is on both sides. The third person in a cabin doesn’t have to have the Plus package. The math breaks down to $15 per day for internet and $16 for crew appreciation. That leaves $29 of the cost for beverages. That about $25 plus the automatic 18% gratuity. For me, the bare minimum on the busiest port day would be a cappuccino in the morning at about $5, a bottle of water to bring on an excursion at about $3, Pellegrino at dinner $4 and a couple of glasses of wine for $30 so I save a minimum of $13 per day. You’ll have to do your own math based on your routine. If your husband drinks coffee, juices, bottled water, or soda, you might still come out ahead with the package.
  15. It’s been remarkable to see the daily price for an upgrade drop from $20, to $10 yesterday, then to $6.99 today. Looking forward to tomorrow! 🍷
  16. I have. Shortly after the restart there were Tensa barriers creating separate check-in lines based on assigned time outside the port in Miami. It seemed to work pretty well. It avoided a lot of frustration.
  17. That makes no sense. 1. They’ve added a private event without taking away the freedom to enjoy Elite Happy Hour wherever you like. 2. The only audience for this announcement is those who are eligible to attend.
  18. I think there are people who are disappointed about not being able to enter what they see as desirable spaces or have certain benefits and blame the beneficiaries.
  19. I’m grateful for my the choice this provides. I may be in the minority, but I much prefer being able to order Happy Hour drinks to enjoy at the Sunset Bar in nice weather, or while I am still sitting by the pool before I’ve even thought about dressing for dinner, to knowing I need to be ready early to attend an indoor event. This may be a great compromise.
  20. Maybe the solution is to offer to pay anything over and above what she actually spends. For example, if you deduct crew appreciation and internet, the Plus package is about $29 per day. Then subtract any drinks, medallion shipping, meals at casual dining. If she spends less, great. You cover the difference. It might still be cheaper for you than paying crew appreciation, buying internet and getting a stand alone beverage package.
  21. Yes. If you are not leaving Vietnam and returning, it is a single entry for those three ports. Vietnam ports are listed on the application this way Ho Chi Minh (Vung Tau Seaport) Chan May (Chan May Seaport) Nha Trang (Nha Trang Seaport) Ha Long Bay (Hon Gai Seaport) Da Nang (Da Nang Seaport) This link below has details from Celebrity on applying for the e-visa including the correct seaport complex names for each port. It appears in the email received from Celebrity that I shared in post #6 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dJKiercTMrbzO6CsEDA6dudfaYU8VIkG/view?usp=sharing
  22. I’ve never heard of it but would sure have tried it if I had! I’m sure it happens, but I would be surprised if it’s common policy. I’d imagine it might be treated the same way someone ordering 4 or 5 drinks at a time would be. Probably against policy to avoid sharing of packages,
  23. It’s been reported that the prix fixe meals can’t be shared. You’ll have to check onboard for your sailing. A workaround might be for one of you to order a la carte and just get soup, salad, or an appetizer
  24. Lamb (and veal if you consider that exotic as well) is available in the MDR on most cruises in different preparations. It’s also available at the Crown Grill. I’ve seen Guinea Fowl occasionally a few times in the MDR. I’ve never seen any game meats or birds or goat.
