  1. No, I couldn't justify that kind of money when I don't have to. P&O and Fred will do. It was only a thought. Last sailed on a Cunard ship in 1969 (QE2)
  2. I didn't know that. I thought there was a vaccine. I think I had chicken pox when I was about 7.
  3. I;m looking forward to some sunshine, sea air and no cooking for 19 days.
  4. Yes to shingles vacc, but how did the OP get chicken pox from their son. Were they not vaccinated?
  5. I agree. I suppose as we are stilll waiting to do our October cruise which has been moved from 2020, we will go with an open mind. I don't hear terrible complaints about Aurora yet and we have a Fred booked on Bolette for april 2024. I have never looked at Azarmara, Oceania etc, mainly because we don't fly and sailing from Southampton suits us well. We have really enjoyed our holidays in the UK and have another one coming up in May, driving to Scotland and seeing some more places we have never been to.
  6. Yes agree. there is no way we would pay that for a cruise, but then, we dont pay for a suite on P&O for the same reason. I looked at Cunard for 2025. They have a nice Med cruise, but again, quite expensive, although nowhere near Saga, but the prices on board for drinks etc - mind blowing. Guess we will stick with P&O and Fred.
  7. The prices on Saga are absolutely eye-watering! 22 nights to the Med - £6K - 15 nights £4K Even if you add the extras, it's nowhere near anything that P&O offers.
  8. For me the cruise doesn't start until we actually sail, so lunch isn't a priority. We normally arrive around 1330 and never had a problem getting on board. Mind you that's Aurora and not a mega ship.
  9. I think you're right, but I don't think you can do that.
  10. Agree, because did you know you can get it through your eyes too, so a mask doesn't cover that!
  11. If you book a cruise whilst on board, and the cruise you are currently on was booked through an agent, P&O will normally send this new cruise through to your TA. I would not have thought you could move a cruise whilst on board if you booked through a TA
  12. Never heard of 710 Club What is it?
  13. People keep on about hand washing but this is not how Covid is passed. It is airborne. There have been many articles saying this. Handwashing, however, is necessary to prevent norovirus which is passed this way.
  14. No it wasn't just the price of the wine, it was the 15% service charge, then the gratuities, and then on top of that the price of the cruise itself. Guess I will stick with what I know.
  15. In our local places in Devon, wine is about £21. Even taking into account dollars, it's still very pricey. And then 15% on top?
  16. Was thinking about trying a Cunard cruise, but these wines seem unbelievably expensive. £49 a bottle for a white wine? Or am I misreading it.
  17. We go to the theatre at home when we can, probably every couple of months. Lucky to have the Theatre Royal in Plymouth and have seen some great shows. So we like the Headliners, not always, but mostly. Usually find the comedians or solo singers a bit dire, so sit near the back and escape if we don't enjoy it. One thing I always find is that everything is far too loud. The theatre on Aurora is quite a nice one in my opinion. So because we don't do it at home every night, we do like a bit of entertainment on a cruise. Late sitting, late show. Bingo, definitely not. Quizzes - nope. I first sailed on a ship in 1967, so no entertainment, but there was dancing after dinner which was nice.
  18. When we sailed on Aurora, a bunch of small kids went into the Adult only pool and the pool was out of order for 2 days to be disinfected!!
  19. agree. And at our house, a bit of dog hair. It's a bit like those who spend their first day on the cruise, antibaccing everything in the cabin. Life is too short.
  20. Good God. vacuum 3 times a week! I do it once. Shampoo carpets twice a year.
  21. I've noticed dusty carpets before in the cabins and I haven't cruised since 2019.
  22. Yes, I didn't want to mention that! I will go in a swimming pool because there is chlorine, but not these, especially hot tubs.
  23. Ha ha! I just wondered why someone would need 16 whirlpools?
  24. My upgrade for Cruise Cover was £40 which is for missed ports, cabin confinement etc. Also, there is no need for vaccination certs any more.
