I guess, reading all these comments, the obvious thing would be for P&O to try it on one or two ships first. Then they would know how popular/unpopular/profitable it would be.

Just out of interest has anyone experienced any passport checks in Europe during a cruise? I’ve done the canaries and Spain/Portugal this winter and no checks.

Don’t know if this is new news but Mr Ludlow just announced in a video tweeted that Aurora and Arcadia will both have major refits in the next two years. I know these ships are very popular with cruise critickers.

Just noticed some (4) excursions have been added to Luxor. Nothing yet for Salalah and the Luxor excursions don’t actually include any trips to Luxor!

Where are you flying to? You could catch a flight from Southampton itself, for example there’s an Aer Lingus to NYC via Dublin that lease at 1255pm. Additional advantage of doing immigration in Dublin.

The extra benefit is in the price you pay. How much extra would you pay in order to have evening turn down?

I was on Azura in November and I assume Ventura will be the same. It will be very different by the sounds of it, certainly no alcohol, although the staff will go to the bar for you. Just water and a couple of juices. Boxed breakfast and lunches all cold options (meant to be !). Afternoon tea also available. I think if you pay for retreat on Ventura/Azura you are paying for the peaceful area. It was very quiet in the Canaries. Hopefully now there are drinks available on the big ships this might filter down?

Interestingly(?) I was logging in the other day and it was struggling (not new) and just showing a pretty blank page with just the top line of the page. Bizarrely top right showed something like “Status Gold”. So I guess the data is there they just chose not to show it normally. Never seen that before or since. I have found the Cunard World team the quickest to respond of anywhere in Carnival house.

Yes, definitely agree with this, separate “freedom” dining in the MDR for suite guests is a great idea.

There’s room for both, a great loyalty scheme can be a benefit to both passenger and company, I’m intrigued to know what would drive people to book. @Denarius Can you honestly say that if, for example, you had 4 cruises booked and if you were to book an additional cruise it would get you a free cruise the next year you wouldn’t be interested?

Yes the parties are a nice thing to have but would you book a cruise in order to have them? Probably not. So let’s help out P&O, what WOULD encourage you to make an EXTRA booking and get to a higher tier? For me being able to get upgrades as you moved through the tiers would be a good start. If say the grade above is available 2 months before your cruise, automatic free upgrade. Mr Ludlow, I’m available at a very fair price if you need help with this🤣

In my opinion the whole scheme needs revamping, goes for Cunard too. The schemes don’t appear to drive bookings. I’m fairly new to cruising having spent quite a few years using airline and hotel schemes, both of these I’ve actually booked flights and hotel rooms to move up or maintain a tier. This week I’m going to the Moxy in Southampton to maintain a tier🤣. I’m only doing this because it’s worth it though, looking at both P&O and Cunard I’ve definitely not thought oooh 50% off laundry I must book another cruise. The discount for on board spend is good and could be improved to drive business. I think a credit card would be a good idea too to earn points. These schemes can really beneficial to a company, IIRC Airmiles as was was worth more than BA at one point.

My other half is on a cruise with their mother next week in the same cabin and they have been given different boarding times😂!!!

If you happen to pass nearby could you have a look at the swimming pool by the retreat? It, and the jacuzzi by it were in a pretty dire state in December. The swim flow machine thingy (that’s the technical term) wasn’t working either.

We are doing the week round the med first then get off in Singapore. We were planning on doing what you’re doing in ‘24 but alas she is in Alaska for ages.
