  1. Would love to do that but unfortunately I think that would be over our budget. Nice idea though.
  2. Great thanks for the feedback. Would love to hear a review when you return. Are you staying o/night in Hawii if so did you find a reasonable priced hotel not to far from the cruise terminal?
  3. We have got a transpacific cruise booked from Hawii /Brisbane but not until October 2023. Out of interest I looked at flight cost from Brisbane or Gold Coast to Hawii for this Oct. For three adults I could not believe the cost especially if you choose 1 stop. A bit cheaper if you want to spend 24 hrs on a 2 stop. At this stage it is looking like approx $6000 !!! I will be desperately hoping the fares will be a lot lower by October 2023 otherwise I may have to change my plans. I was willing to accept that my cruise insurance is going to be very expensive owing to my age but the cost of air fares caught me by surprise.
  4. Sorry guys did not mean to rub it in, the mention of Port Lincoln brought back some happy memories. It is sad the rough seas has stopped your plans but I hope you are still enjoying the cruise.
  5. Lovely area. Went there many years ago when we lived in Adelaide. It is over a 7hr drive one way from Adelaide so we used to take the caravan and stay at Coffin Bay caravan Park that is a 30min drive further on from Port Lincoln, another beautiful place. Oyster Kilpatrick on the barbecue from the Oyster farm nearby yum. 😊
  6. Gee I wished they had changed the name, Carnival Luminosa to me just does not sound right no matter how many times I say it. Do you guys like the name? I think they should have consulted CCC I am sure you guys could have come up with a better name. Told my brother I had booked a cruise on the Luminosa all he could say was Looney what !!!! 😂
  7. Thanks for the heads up. Yes I did figure that they would charge for the day of picking the car up. Got an 8 night cruise so will book for 9 days. Their charges are pretty reasonable. I guess the only way it would work to be fair is if they charged by the hour. 😊
  8. Thats great thank you. I was thinking of going with 1 cover being over 80 yr old I did not realise that you could claim for missed ports on the $200 excess. I misread and thought that the $3000 excess applied to any claim. Now realise that it applies to medical, injury, repatriation and cancellations. Cheers John
  9. Thats great that worked out well. Nice to know they honoured your claim.Would you mind if I ask what Insurance company you used.
  10. Thats nice to know.Hopefully the Quantum will be the same. I did find when we went on the Ovation there was more than enough lifts and they were fast as well. Hopefully once onboard we will fill comfortable enough and find we were overly concerned. Thats the plan any way 😁
  11. Thanks for that. We have used them before the Covid and my wife's health issues when we cruised from Fishermans Island. I must admit they were very good. I am just concerned about the closeness in the shuttle bus. We have to be extra careful. We have decided to go on the cruises and as Covid looks like it is here to stay, take as much care as we reasonably can on board, using the stairs etc. It's a pain but the alternative is to miss out on our love of cruising.
  12. Thank you very much for the information . The decision has been made I will be parking at the terminal. Thats that ticked off my list.😄 👍
  13. Yes that is a big plus. Was there any traffic hold ups on embarkation getting out of the car park and the one road from the terminal ?
  14. Hailstones are my worry as well. Portside parking has good undercover parking at a higher cost than BICT, that does not bother me but I was trying to avoid being crammed on the shuttle bus for 15/20 min to the terminal.
  15. I was very reluctant to go on a mega ship but the wife was keen to go on a newer ship. After our cruise on the Radiance we went on the Ovation. Embarkation on the Ovation was smooth and so was the disembarkation. On board we never felt crowded, we also never found any problem finding a table in the buffet. I was expecting the worst with nearly 5000 passengers but was pleasantly surprised how it turned out. When on the Radiance ( loved the ship ) but for some reason took ages to get on and off and we struggled to find chairs on deck during the day and also in the buffet. I must point out that we turned up at the Sydney OPT around the same time of day on each cruise to avoid the morning crushes.
  16. @arxcards as well. They are good points. My cruise on the Quantum is in January so could be very busy. I think I will be booking well in advance. Thanks for the advice .👍
  17. Thank you all, sounds the way to go. I was a bit bothered because as you know the Quantum takes a lot of passengers and I wondered if the car park could handle it. It will be nice to disembark and just walk to our car for a short journey home. I appreciate your replies. Might sound a bit negative but I also thought if we were unlucky enough to end up with Covid at least they will let you drive home if you have your vehicle there. Cheers John.
  18. That is possible. Seems like they were expecting Eden to be out of action. Seeing Quantum stated it would be a tendered stop I did not expect tenders not being able to use the pier or Jetty.
  19. That is strange, the other thing is I looked at Sydney port cruise schedule a fair while ago and noticed then that the Quantum was booked for an overnighter. I thought it was an error on the port schedule, so it looks like this was planned by RCI well before notifying us !!!
  20. Going to book on line at Wilsons car park at Brisbane International Cruise Terminal for my 8 night cruise. Could any of our cruisers that have used it, please let me know if it is advisable to book well in advance. Looking at parking in the premier part hopefully under cover. Did you book an extra day just in case of any delays ? Cheers John.
