  1. I reckon the maxi taxi will be the go. I will probably order it a couple of days from the hotel to take me to the terminal. Out of interest can I use a master card in Singapore or will I need SGD.Thanks.
  2. That is good to know, at our age walking in the heat would not be good. I don't think a standard taxi would fit three persons luggage in but as suggested we could take 2 but I know my wife would not like us going separately. Maybe a maxi taxi !! Must thank all of you for your advice and suggestions this forum has been so helpful.
  3. Sounds like the perfect cruise for the wife and I 😊
  4. Sounds great. I was just doing a bit of research and found that the MTR goes to south pier cruise terminal, I think that is where Royal Caribbean dock, I was wondering how far to walk to the terminal from the station ? Would be great if we stayed near a MTR station where you suggested and could use the railway.
  5. In the long run we have to appreciate that they are doing a brilliant job, after all it is for everyones benefit. Can you imagine what it would be like without them.
  6. Thank you, good to hear from someone who has been to Singapore and as I said a big help. Nice to have advice before taking a trip to some where for the first time. I have noted the Maxwell food centre.
  7. All good information thanks. What is best from the airport to the city area taxi or shuttles? We would have three peoples luggage so I don't know if the taxis would be able to fit it all in.
  8. Thank you, Long way off as we have a cruise booked for early 2024 and the Singapore cruise is late 2024. Doing research now to keep me amused. Of course it is really too early to get correct cost for accommodation and flights etc as the dates we need are not available yet, Near the MRT would be ideal and around that area is probably where we will end up.
  9. Wow three hours to look in your luggage !!! Seems a bit over the top. Must have been after the overtime pay.
  10. Thanks Sand$, Just finding out about the cost in Singapore. Seeing there are three of us we need 2 bedroom accomodation. It certainly does not come cheap. Most hotel rooms are only for two people which means we need 2 rooms. I started looking at 2 bedroomed serviced apartments and they are expensive as well. Marina Bay Sands looks a lovely area. As we are staying in Singapore for 5 days I have no doubt that it will cost more than the cruise back. We may have to accept that it is the way it is. Time to tighten the belt and start saving and make sure we really enjoy the holiday with decent accommodation. Sure looking forward to it all. @ OzzKiwiJJ, That's great, at least we will be able to eat at a reasonable cost and not have to wait until we embark.😊 Cheers John.
  11. Would really like to do the one from Honolulu to Brisbane, maybe in 2025 as we have already booked two cruises for 2024. Did you enjoy all the sea days? As the wife and I are into our 80s I feel the sea days would suit us fine.🙂
  12. Thank you for the advice. We have actually decided to fly with Quantas and rather than fly in the day before we are going 5 days earlier than the cruise. We can have a nice holiday in Singapore. Might as well make it a good holiday and relax on the cruise to Brisbane. That will take out any stress of flight cancelations. 🙂 Cheers John.
  13. Thank you that sounds great but a bit too close for us. Thanks for all the replies they have been a great help. I have just booked a repo cruise Singapore -- Brisbane. We will spend 5 days in Singapore before the cruise back. I wonder if any of you guys that have stayed in Singapore could point me in the right direction for any reasonable cost accomodation that you have stayed at. This would be very appreciated. Cheers John.
  14. Thats great I was favouring Singapore to Brisbane. Flight cost and Insurance seems to be the biggest expense. Don't fancy it but Jet star seems to be a lot cheaper than the others, just wondering if I can stand the cramped conditions for the long flight. I suppose I could recover on the cruise back 🙂 I like the overweight luggage idea on the return or should I say the wife would like it.
  15. Probably been discussed before but I am considering a repositioning cruise. I am wondering if my CC friends on here prefer Australia to overseas or the reverse and why. Do you get more Australians going than the reverse etc. Cheers John.
  16. Have not had a lot of input lately owing to family illness but I have viewed this post all along and I genuinely wish you all the best Les and keep fighting. John Gc
  17. Thanks Guys. I appreciate all the feedback. Must admit I am a bit concerned that they may be too hard with my back problems. As I have a good self inflating camping mattress as mentioned in my post # 3 that is not bulky I might take that. 🙂
  18. Thanks libby. Very helpful to know. Sounds like I may end up taking an inflatable topper that rolls up small.
  19. Hi guys, I have seen reports of the beds being very hard on the Carnival Luminosa. I am interested to know from you guys that have cruised on the Luminosa if it is possible to get a mattress topper. Seen a few reviews that state that you can and others have said the the cabin stewards have told them they do not supply them. I I would like to know first hand as a hard bed for a back problem is a no no. Cheers John.
  20. For sure. I phoned and queried their statement and was told just take as much care as you can, that is all well and good but it is a get out for them if you claimed. I did explain that I would like to eat at sometime on the cruise and it would be impossible not to mix. That cover also applies to land based holidays and as you know now days it is impossible to keep a distance in shops etc.
  21. Sorry I need to go to spec savers ,just noticed the question was directed to bazzaw. Left this on in case anybody is interested in my Quantus quote. International comprehensive Australian Waters 70+
  22. Quantus quote for a Domestic Cruise for 7 days beat all the other companies. It does cover covid and medical on board plus repatriation but the following statement from the PDS contradicts a policy covering a cruise. PDS quote You are not covered If you buy or extend a policy, or make or undertake travel arrangements, when you are aware, or a reasonable person in your circumstances should have been aware, of circumstances that may impact your travel plans, or knowingly putting yourself in a situation of unreasonable risk, such as: if you know you will be unable to avoid close contact with a case of coronavirus during your trip;
  23. Be interested to know how you get on if you don't mind, I am in the same situation. Thanks.
  24. My brother complained of missing socks and then I noticed he had odd socks on. 😁
