  1. 100 % . I have also been cruising many years and this was the first and only time that I had heard this . It was quite unmistakable . I have always wondered what the right answer to the question was on the survey where they say "did anyone ask you for a positive review " , or something to that effect. I was always wondering if I get them in trouble if I mention it , but after hearing it over the P.A. I determined it is standard practice and now I'm wondering if they get in trouble if they don't Beg for their 10's. Cheers
  2. I'm up in the air on this one as we were leaving the windjammer and an announcement (over the loudspeaker ) comes on and asks that we give them a 10 .... If it were not acceptable , I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be a public service announcement ! ? Cheers
  3. I met my room steward as soon as rooms were opened . Asked for evening , and she asked what time would work. As we had early dining at 5:30 told her 6 PM and she said that was good. 3rd night she walks in on me pretty much in the raw at 5:10 P.M. ...Side note , she did happen to be the worst steward I have encountered in 14 sailings. Cheers
  4. MTD on Royal is a disaster . Avoid it like the plague , especially if you like to dine early (ish) JMHO Also , If you can't get it switched pre cruise be sure and head directly to dining room as soon as you board and the "should"be able to accomodate you Cheers
  5. I had this happen 3 times in a row .Bring it to everyones attention possible , including Guest services. I always ended up getting a table ( night 2 on 1 of the 3 ) . MDR is operating like a $#!t $#0w Cheers
  6. I'll never turn down a slice if lookin for a quick grab , and most are just soso but I Had a barbecue chicken pizza on Harmony last month that was fantastic !
  7. Early hasn't started at 6 for ages , (due to the fact that they have completely messed up MTD ) It is usually 5-5:30 , ocassionally as late as 5:45
  8. I'm thinking it's likely he just isn't an assertive person. You just need to keep saying "more please " and I am certain they will keep piling on . You should see me with a pasta dish and the server coming around grating fresh parmesan on my plate . They tell me to say when , and then try to stop 3 times because they can't believe how much I want . Cheers
  9. $1 000 000 000 Profit with a 24% margin doesn't seem too bad !
  10. Exactly our timeline ! ...First ship Navigator Cheers
  11. Yes , the lounge is the last thing I care about . I just hope they don't decide at any point to come after those drinks . They may really have a fight on their hands then ! Cheers...And Cheers again.. and so on
  12. We were also on Harmony last month , and I would say 5 of the 7 nights we found something appealing on the menu . That being said ,that is proof of why they need the classics . Everyone has certain tastes that will likely limit them on a 7 night cruise as to whether they are gonna find something EVERY night that they will truly enjoy . Cheers
  13. Yeah , years ago when there were recommended gratuity guidelines , there was not a line for.... "öther hotel services" ...On the fence , but leaning in a new direction
  14. I agree completely that from ROYAL's perspective it is brilliant and not a problem . Where I would say the problem is is where cruisers who have earned their perks and privileges , lose them or have them reduced or limited , due to numbers getting too high,(may or may not happen) 2 totally different perspectives .I believe Some are concerned about future reductions (that may or may not happen). Cheers
  15. IMHO , It has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with what class is booked . It has to do with principals Cheers
  16. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Thank you ..... That is so obvious , I'm growing tired hearing so many say otherwise ! Cheers
  17. I have continued to leave auto Grats on and still tip waiter and Assistant the same as always , but it was only common sense to me at the very least to knock the stewards "Ëxtra" in half on last months cruises . I mean why would I tip him the same amount extra , when he now has twice the amount of rooms he had previously due to only servicing once a day? If everyone continued to tip what they had previously thought of as being fair , He would be making a damn good increase ! So factoring the same logic into the auto Grats and their constant increases alongside the reductions in service , It really makes me ask myself why I am still leaving them on ...But I am ! ...To be continued with later thought Cheers
  18. But they are nice enough to take them out of the shell for you ! Bon Apetite !
  19. So thinking a bit more about this , There are many who are adamant about leaving the auto grats in place (merely because it is the RIGHT thing to do) . Seems from what I've been reading lately there are gonna be quite a %age of those same cruisers who are going to hit a breaking point with the continual increases and stop tipping Extra. I wonder if any could be open minded enough to see the possible other side to the argument at that point ? Or will all still just be beating the drum ? Just thinking out loud... Cheers
  20. Sad thing is , by raising grats again , upfront customer facing staff , (who I believe deserve the tip) , Are actually going to get way less by my estimation . With the amount of the increase ,we could estimate that the steward gets maybe an extra .50c-.60c per day .So a buck a day per cabin . If this leads more people to stop tipping them extra , they could be hauling in maybe an avg. of $5 a day from that loss. Haven't decided to do either yet , still auto gratting and tipping extra , but Makes me feel , removing autograts , and tipping accordingly may be the better option , rather than leaving them on and not tipping extra. ...Good job RCI Cheers
