  1. There is a thread in the Carnival section of cc that is reporting that this problem might be beginning to abate.
  2. That is a problem. In another thread it is reported that the backlog of obtaining visas for the crew is beginning to get better. Hopefully, that will help with the staffing problem.
  3. So true, shareholders become the big losers in a bankruptcy reorganization.
  4. AS always, thanks for sharing your knowledge. I believe you can blame it on the Points Guy as I think MSN just reprints things they find interesting, or to be of interest to those viewing their site.
  5. Yes, they are sort of a "phantom" group. I know we have at least once if not more been a part of such a group, but also have never knowingly met someone else from the group.
  6. Sounds like just another wrong headed decision by the bean counters. Passengers who would have used this will instead of using the guarantee and go on an excursion with Princess will take the private excursion.
  7. But this is what can happen after you file for bankruptcy. From record-setter to rubbish: World’s biggest cruise ship to be scrapped without sailing a single voyage (msn.com)
  8. sometimes the lights all shining on me other times I can barely see lately it occurs to me, what a long strange trip it's been to the OP--keep on truckin', or maybe more appropriately, keep on sailing.
  9. Agree, we have had that happen a few times, but not until onboard. I do remember the first time asking our TA later on, and that was the answer he gave, a return of overcharged estimated port fees.
  10. From record-setter to rubbish: World’s biggest cruise ship to be scrapped without sailing a single voyage (msn.com) Or was it just because it was by Genting and they declared bankruptcy?
  11. (I originally read the title on another thread as bought instead of brought.) In the Greek setting for the original Olympics, DW bought a book that showed the site both as it is now and was then by fliiping the transparent covering over the page. Since she is an elementary art teacher and Greek art is part of the curriculum, this turned out to be very useful for her.
  12. I'm not sure what it is called (and we received it actually as a present from a nephew)--you hang it in the bathroom and it hold toothbrush, dental floss, bandaids, hair brush, etc. Also, of course my wife as I have no sense of direction and would have been lost several times. The worst was on our very first cruise as I got us on the train the wrong way from Livorno (the port for Florence and Pisa).
  13. The price dropped here (though not at every station) at the beginning of June as NY state temporarily (until the end of the year) dropped its 18 cents a gallon gas tax. But, it did not take long for the price to go higher than it was at the end of May.
  14. And it will not end until the bean counters decide that a significant number of passengers are really following through on their threats of not returning,
  15. Not just people not coming back; my TA is president of his online agency and told me with no revenue because of covid, he basically had to lay off all his employees. Also, when I told him his website no longer worked, his reply was that he could no longer afford the website. Tough times!
  16. What exactly did they say to you that made you think that those things that should have been and actually were totally refundable under your circumstances were not going to be refunded? Also, I'd like you to clarify something. It has been stated that they found your luggage and had it taken off the ship. Some have taken this as you meant to end your cruise while you have maintained that you wanted to rejoin it at another port. Did you actually request the luggage to come off, or was this done by NCL without you requesting it?
  17. There should never really have been any issue about receiving the NCL refund. A five week turnaround is not bad, a lot less than people were experiencing at the beginning of the pandemic.
  18. As long as it is posted to NCL, it should work. I have done this in the past with AMEX (an offer from a different cruise line) by buying OBC.
  19. Unfortunately in recent years, a change for the worse in customer service is not unique to the airlines.
  20. You can black everything else out. In fact they require you to black out your customer identifying number for your account.
  21. Stonehenge remains on our bucket list. In 2020, we had a Princess cruise booked for the Norwegian fjords and an excursion back to Heathrow with a stop at Sonehenge. DW said she was actually more enthused about that excursion than the cruise.
  22. This is the relevant forum: East Coast Departures - Cruise Critic Community
  23. I remember getting to the cruise terminal from the airport very quickly once we received our baggage of course. It was by public transportation. IIRC, on the forum in cc for ports I went to the one that included Boston and was given very good directions on how to do it.
