  1. "Pants" are not on the laundry list, I put a pair of sturdy pants in my bag and listed them as Pajamas, no issue. YMMV!
  2. I just try not to think about that...or about towels and bed linens all being washed with other people's. 😀
  3. No fee for room service. Nice to have breakfast magically appear and laid out on the balcony table, or order a pizza anytime. We enjoyed the in-suite espresso machine, we asked the suite attendant for regular sized coffee cups, if you keep pressing the button, you end up with something more like American coffee. The cappuccino in the suite lounge was good. The balcony is large, we brought a hammock, really nice for reading or drowsing. I think you get one-time complimentary pressing of your formal garments. Suite attendants are the best, just ask for anything you want....I asked for a flatter pillow, I swear it felt just like my pillow at home.
  4. I mean no offense, but is $200 worth your energy fighting for at this stage of life? It appears by your residence and the amount of traveling that you do, that you’d be able to absorb the loss.
  5. I know this doesn't help you right now, but a travel agent I think would be very helpful with issues like this.
  6. Coconut cake looked good and tasted good. I always take a spin through WJ after my MDR dinner has settled, to get cookies and anything else that looks too good to pass up.
  7. Just my $.02 and probably worth as much...haha...but I am inclined to believe that this inflexibility will ease fairly quickly. This is the first major change in dining and when you factor in that so much of the crew in the whole dining operation is new, it's a learning curve for them. What I have seen in my own workplace, new staff who are from different cultures and languages often perceive new rules in an "all or nothing" sense. In time they learn what works best, and that saying "no" to reasonable requests doesn't make sense.
  8. x2 though I did not find the food to be fabulous. Royal can't seem to get a decent sear on beef, most of the time. Glad I did it just for the experience. It was fun to dress up and table-mates were pleasant. Wines were not special, you can find them in most any supermarket. I left most of mine, but admittedly I am a wine snob. The "sommelier" was a senior waiter from Chops. When asked if the Cabernet Sauvignon was 100% Cabernet or a blend, he answered "oh, It's 100%!" as though having other varietals in the blend made an inferior wine. We didn't hold that against him, and tipped in cash, he was a hard worker and he really tried, just don't expect to learn much about wine. I can't remember everything that was on the menu....an amuse bouche, there was a chilled scallop/vinaigrette-type appetizer, a fish course, Filet Mignon, and desert was a large hollow chocolate globe with peanut butter and ice cream inside, I believe.
  9. Given the fact Grandeur was supposed to leave the fleet, and due to her age, as these ships are retired, the small ship experience will move into being being a more upscale niche market, so I'm enjoying Grandeur while I can.
  10. Googled Christian cruises and they are a thing. Royal has several in 2023. Mariner Dec 18-23. "Kids are welcome." I am thinking with these special groups, you can call the organizers and ask how many attendees they have, will it be a lot of families, will venues be closed, etc.
  11. Thank you for the review and for letting us know the atmosphere onboard. Sadly, there's no guarantee we won't run into extremely rude, entitled, yelling and disrespectful people anywhere we go in the world today. Seems like Royal should inform guests if there will be large groups taking over venues. But they don't, so the burden is on the consumer.
  12. I assume you have considered this but anyway just saying wouldn't two connecting rooms (or even non-connecting) be more comfortable?
  13. Was on last month, if you enjoyed Rhapsody then I am pretty sure you will enjoy Grandeur. It was very clean, food was good, dining service was very good, bar service was slow. The aft part of the ship had noticeable vibration. Not sure if that's temporary or a persistent thing. Personally I thought the decor was beautiful, though it is definitely dated. A 25 year old ship will show wear but nothing was objectionable, windows had salt crust; maybe they've cut back on regular window cleaning? Live music was very good, shows were as expected, hit or miss, and I missed all of them. Cabin location deck 7 forward of the centrum was great and nothing to complain about with it. Cabin service is once a day now, you choose morning or evening, but in my case I tipped the steward extra every day or two (he was a wonderful individual) and received service twice a day. Only started cruising last year, so I don't know how it was in the past. I'll be on again Sept 21 out of Tampa.
  14. To be clear, I don't allow people to smoke in my house, ever, but on a cruise ship where I am just passing through the casino and the designated smoking areas are outdoors, it just doesn't bother me, personally. My clothes are not smelling of smoke. Most recently, it was nice seeing people able to enjoy a cigarette on their vacation without feeling like outcasts. Same with vape pens. Again, we should all follow the rules on the ship.
  15. Me too! Love the smell of the casino, or sitting on the deck 5 promenade near the smokers. Reminds me of a time when people didn't worry about every little thing. If only somehow I could relive the smell of a 1960's airport.....coffee, cigarettes and kerosene!
  16. Loved the Malin & Goetz, missed it afterwards.
  17. That is great, a dear friend was an art collector, and did very well also. I learned a little from him. I was looking at some Dali art, and they tried to bluff me. I really had to cross-examine the lady to ascertain which series it was from. I can see people buying art and not knowing important facts that determine its value.
  18. The whole Park West art sales on the ship borders on farcical. I attended the auction as a novelty but bolted because the sales lady/auctioneer's voice and relentlessness was painful to listen to.
  19. @fuglynchalenged lots of folks gave responses to your thread, can you update please?
  20. The way I read your post, you were looking to change your sailing date, not cancel. At any rate, I wish you the best, it is disappointing when plans don't work out.
  21. Yes, there is a snack bar in the solarium, for pizza, sandwiches, cookies, etc., that opens and closes intermittently during the times Windjammer is closed, check the daily calendar to see how late they stay open. If your husband wants a snack very late, the only option will be room service. Cafe Lattetudes also has snacks which are included in your fare.
