  1. A slice of white bread, unbuttered, was a cure for any stomach trouble
  2. Facing a rather long assignment in the Netherlands, my much-missed Dutch-descended Mom said learn some Dutch before you go - at least Please, Thank you, & I'm sorry. Which I did & never regretted. I know we all miss our moms who have lost them; well, I do too. Wait... Should that "who" have been whom? No one I know has ever vocalized "whom" including said beloved mother.
  3. I'm quite sure I'd reject a free cruise on that line, even if wine included
  4. As I reflect on my own fear of being too late to the party, I've decided that I too wish to say Happy Birthday Mysty! Although was it actually yesterday now? Regardless, words of Winston Churchill that I had on my wall when working in Research and Development : "Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm." So, sending enthusiastic birthday wishes your way and kudos to Mr. Mysty for the thoughtful flowers.
  5. A music video that might tell you a lot about today's young people, at least in the US and... Why I will sub teach if they need someone.... the pay is ridiculously low, probably could make more at McD & get some good fries - our young people
  6. let me see if I can redirect this prurient crowd:
  7. Yep, I'll drink to that! Re: pizza box: were directions printed somewhere regarding how to open the box?
  8. Having a blast here keeping up with your posts! Thank you.
  9. Well, I did have the peanut butter cups and chocolate bars as alternative selections! Of the maybe 12 kids between the 2 groups, only one picked a Nutrigain bar, so, granted, your comment has merit. But, like Stumbles, I always have them in stock because I just plain like them. Quick if not preferred breakfast, goes with a cup of coffee. Unable to login last 36 hours or so. I was unable to respond to any posts, could only read and wish I lived in Alberta where trick or treating continues strong. If you are reading this and still unable to post, you have my sympathy & here is what finally cleared it up: go to privacy settings in your browser clear browsing data be sure clearing cookies is checked when you log back into cruise critic, it (unbelievably!) still won't work till you sign out and back in Now, what happens next time I try to log in elsewhere and have to remember all those passwords?
  10. Happy Halloween everyone. We actually had 2 trick or treat groups tonight - good thing I bought a package of Nutrigrain bars and another of Reese's peanut butter cups 🙂
  11. Agreed. They look great, but not sure I can replicate! 🙂
  12. Love these happy pics, made me happy just looking at them! Thats so adorable & funny too 🙂
  13. Hoping for the best outcomes for you Daveywavey
  14. No need to be sorry, I'm an idiot for not having seen what you meant. I am inexplicably thawing and preparing salmon fillets for our Gus (twice now as of this evening). Not going to mention scallops in earshot of that cat. We're missing our recently departed Grover something terrible but finding joy in the new cat and our old girl Biscuit, sleeping buddies as shown below in a somewhat unflattering picture. But, hey, the idea is to show they are true friends!
  15. So sorry mchell810, and I do so hope Maya returns. Our pets are so very special to all of us who take one in.
  16. Observer, you are a well-respected poster here, you gave me great tips as I took my first Silversea cruise a few years back, so your two-word post has an outsized effect on me, & probably others. Any expansion on your post would be appreciated...
  17. Wow, don't want to believe. Looking forward to our next SS cruise in a few months, just can't imagine the crew has changed so much from our past experiences
  18. So, Broadway plays tour after closing in New York, & today I took my beautiful wife to see Dear Evan Hansen as it finally arrived in Richmond. What a wonderful, if emotionally difficult at times, play. My favorite quote, that Evan writes to himself: "Dear Evan Hansen, today is going to be a great day and here's why: because today at least you're you and, well, that's enough." Don't know about the movie, anybody seen it?
  19. I would swear I saw a quote within the last 24 hours or so about being a fighter, not a quitter. And now she's a quitter? British politics is confusing, but I do enjoy the little snippets we get here of when the PM goes and answers questions from members of the House of Commons. As far as I know, the USA has nothing like it. Best wishes to all in the UK.
  20. As are the other towns that surround it. When our kids were growing up, we could take them to this part of the country, where their grandparents on one side lived for generations, & have great summer vacations. The memories continue to this day around holiday get togethers, etc. So the question is up to these towns and counties, I think. If they choose to limit the number of visitors, I suggest we respect their reasons and book our excursions early!
  21. love all you guys, but still grieving, this helped a bit:
  22. Sad day in Virginia today, we took one of our 2 dogs to the vet, he just seemed tired and at times having trouble breathing. While being x-rayed, he went into labored breathing with blood pressure dropping, they rushed him back to the room where we were waiting and he died in our arms. The world is a bit poorer without Grover in it. Much larger impact on us to lose him.
  23. A good sauvignon blanc often on the included list of wines
  24. glad to be here, just poured a 2nd glass 🙂
