  1. I remember that cartoon! I'm thinking @tscoffey you were another geography / maps nerd as a kid. However, I've completely forgotten Bugs' motive....
  2. Totally understand a bit of trepidation regarding a large ship. We certainly had some prior to boarding a Royal ship with 4200 pax. For us, it turned out fine. There were less busy places to go. We did have a Suite which undoubtedly helped, and I (unsurprisingly I suppose) purchased the drink package. That said, we are both very much looking forward to our cruise on the Dawn this summer!
  3. About 60 to zero but let me explain. Ground rules have been for her & other grandkids, $50 but if we go a little bit over that's ok. She casually mentioned on the ride over to the mall that her other grandparents had sent a Visa gift card for $100 & she had it with her. I said great, but you know the ground rules are $50 with a bit over being ok from us. Between a necklace, a bracelet, and a book from Barnes & Noble, the score was approx 60 - nil. Final stop was Target for some pimple patches (pls don't ask but its why I have no pics). She stepped in front of me & paid for them with her Visa gift card. I'm not worried about the kids of today. They're beautiful.
  4. Beautiful waterfall. Certainly beats the inside of a mall, even it was nice to spend time with our granddaughter. If you ever see an old man standing outside a Hot Topic store, don't automatically think the worst. Most likely you would find a granddaughter with grandma shopping inside. Grampa's comments on some of the clothing were not appreciated, I think 🙂.
  5. I think you'll have a great cruise, with plenty of food and fun. We just completed a great cruise on Odyssey and, honestly, never understood the impact of MTD. - Useless I guess but confident you all will have blast!
  6. Granddaughter's birthday tomorrow. Plan is for wife and I to take her to the mall to pick out her gift. What could possibly go wrong?
  7. Not like what they have in DC - that was a gift from the people of Japan if I have my history right. But folks do plant cherry trees as has our Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond - they are also in glorious bloom this year. Maybe a portent of better times to come 😇?
  8. You folks are a caring and fun group. A lot like most of the folks we met on Odyssey. Would love to join the: I can eat shrimp with the best of them. Probably too far to drive... One pic from our Odyssey cruise, which we continue to bask in the afterglow from a week or so ago. This from an RCL excursion - Sunset Cruise in Aruba - that I fully recommend if you find yourself in those beautiful waters. Making spaghetti tonight for my dear wife and I, sure wish it could morph into any of the meals we had at Giovanni's
  9. Azaleas and dogwood trees have bloomed beautifully this year around Richmond, VA.
  10. Wow, welcome to Silversea & we're a bit jealous as our next cruise (on Silver Moon) is several months away. All good answers above. We were very satisfied with the included wines (our picks: sauv blanc / red blends) and, unusual for us, enjoyed a few mixed drinks on a previous cruise on the Muse.
  11. Yes, & we loved the show. Because of it we have a land trip to Italy booked this fall. Would like to suggest another show, on Apple TV: the Reluctant Traveler. Humorous. Eugene Levy is the reluctant traveler. Just watched the Portugal episode - loved it. Others have been fun too, but this episode combined w/ JP's posts in months gone by have me ready to book something that will take me there! But perhaps vacations should not be booked after finishing a + Rioja bottle ....
  12. Too risky. Consider spending the day & evening in Iceland, we have so enjoyed our 2 visits to the city & country if you wish to keep your flight
  13. Cloudy Bay too steep here too. matua & nobilo satisfy our house needs for NZ sb. That said, we just enjoyed an outstanding sb from the pacific Northwest: $17 but we found it lovely & worth the small premium for a holiday: Bowhead Columbia Valley Question now is what to open next 🙂
  14. Happy Easter to all. Keukenhof Netherlands
  15. Great music was everywhere on the Odyssey. On the pool deck in daytime, at various nightclubs throughout the evening. So different from our previous cruises. So much fun, even for a pretty old man and his beautiful wife, and her female friends who traveled with us.
  16. Giovanni's Italian kitchen chicken parm was superb. Giovanni's bar had the best red wine selections covered by the package. French Red Blend. Had no problems flying Delta to FLL & back. This forum moves fast! Cruz RN gets my vote.
  17. pan fish (meaning the whole fish fits in a medium size pan), usually bluegill or sunfish, maybe perch but usually separated out as perch because of all the bones
  18. Even on a cruise on a ship with 4000+ people, nature can make a beautiful sight while on excursion. Not going to convert me from Silversea though.
  19. First RCL cruise on Odyssey just 2 weeks away. We went for the 3 night dining plan, know that we want Giovanni's & Chops, any suggestions for the third? Love Italian food - is Giovanni's the best option?
  20. Kind of a shame that But we are looking forward to our first RCL cruise! Caribbean beckons with its warm weather & no pollen. Going to bring enough cash to tip every meal, but won't if service isn't good.
