  1. She is due to sail in two weeks on 16th November.
  2. I had one too right at the front. Fabulous views for sailing the fjords. No issues with people looking in just a few pleasantries if people walked by and I was on the balcony which was huge.
  3. This September it was 90$ for the 3 night Le Havre trip when they first introduced it. Didn’t seem to be any shiortage of takers judging by the queues to purchase on the lido deck the first afternoon.
  4. There are at least a couple of QG accessible balcony cabins on deck 8 and they not obscured. I have also had a non obscured balcony on deck 8.
  5. Strange P &O call there. I may have to swop my QV South American grand voyage in 2025 to Aurora in 2026 which is actually a better itinerary and there is a stop at Cape Verde on the way out.
  6. My daughter has just got her upgrade through . She had no choice of location. She has done well as went from inside forward to midship standard balcony for £80 p p. She could only select balcony or sheltered balcony. No deck or position choice. Don’t risk it if you have a cabin location that suits. This info applies to U K bookings only.
  7. I had to get mine from Purser’s desk when I last moved up.
  8. That would make more sense and fits with the suggestion of access to outside de deck 8 from inside deck 8.There is a lot of wasted space outside entrance too so I suppose stripping the area out could make an access and a smart newly configured restaurant. Also as the cabins prefabricated and slotted in, presumably the old ones would have to be taken out in one piece? As long as it’s finished by 16th!!
  9. Can’t see how they could make a new route without moving the Veranda Restaurant unless they make it substantially smaller. You can get to deck 8 without going through restaurant now. You just have to go up the stair case by The Princess Grill Restaurant from deck 7.
  10. Amazing photos thank you
  11. Complete new cabins deck 8 as they are prefabricated blocks ?
  12. You can get sea sickness tablets from med centre for a small charge without having to pay for a consultation if you can’t get any from reception.
  13. Not everyone sailing on Cunard today has been fortunate to have been cruising since their teens. I certainly was not until later in life. Having spent a not unsubstantial sum on their cruise many new comers look to a variety of sources to help them fit in and make the most of their experience. I have not and never likely to ever cruise with some of the different lines out there but would certainly look at all sources of information if I ever needed to find out about life onboard and what to expect on one of their ships.
  14. I have definitely increased mine when I renewed last week.
  15. I am not sure all of the posters who have been affected have gone into any detail about their insurance status. I have read the entire thread too.
  16. They are being operated by a third party provider on P&O ‘s behalf. Once they have a year of P&O and Cunard data there should be greater consistency. It’s the same firm that handles other cruise lines upgrades too.
  17. No she was in the WAAF as an Administrator. After Algeria she was posted to Cairo where she stayed until the war ended. She then stayed on travelling around Egypt, trying to find all those who had gone AWOL over the years. She eventually was lucky to get one of the first places at a Teacher Training College when they eventually opened up. Ex service personnel had first priority. She then went on to teach for over 30 years. She had amazing stories to tell of her time in North Africa.
  18. My mother was stationed in Algeria during the war. I would love to visit the places she talked about.
  19. Can’t remember about P&O but Cunard have a big wall poster at the Purser’s desk informing guests about this.
  20. I am originally from Birmingham and grew up with the word. Still use it now.
  21. I am not sure people can buy the drink package on short cruises. You can now on Cunard but don’t think they have introduced that yet on P&O ?It is more expensive for the under 5 night sailings by $20 but on a recent 3 night sailing there was obviously no shortage of takers looking at the sign up lines on the first day.
  22. I noticed that I definitely used mine in September but obviously going forward may not be able to. Going onboard in 3 weeks so will be interesting to check. Daughter rebought her shares and has the OBC applied within 4 weeks to sail but over 3. Application was turned round in less than 24 hours.
  23. Me too. Will be excited to see what’s what.
  24. Mad isn’t it. They are are a bit cosseted here as they all drive round in vans !!
