  1. The tick box would have applied to the potential free upgrades in the past. The bidding system is completely different as it comes with the additional cost of whatever may be accepted as your bid if you are lucky.
  2. The bid to upgrade is handled by a third party so not the same as booking a cabin.
  3. Cunard’s own deck plans will also show if there is a sofa that can be a 3 rd berth
  4. UK bookings with T A ‘s will be subject to different booking terms and conditions and different fare types will be available. I have never seen or received any shareholder promo just the normal advertised shareholder allowances depending on the length of the voyage and dependant on the fare type booked.
  5. Sadly no Cunard will only deal with queries regarding bookings made direct with them. They will just refer you back to your T A.
  6. We recently bid on an upgrade and won . Had 72 hours to pay for it so presumably if you get offered a cabin that wouldn’t suit you could decline it ? I had a brilliant obscured ocean view on QV had a large sofa but not sure if it was a sofa bed. Might be best to ring again.
  7. I agree it’s not the same but the point I was making is that not all fare types are eligible. This was just an example. It’s down to your T A to point out that deal your were being offered would exclude you from shareholder benefit if that was relevant to you. That may then have informed you if you would have wanted a different quote/ rate that would have been eligible for Shareholder OBC
  8. Hi it’s not the ticket price it’s the type of fare /ticket price regardless of the actual coat. By reduced rate they mean it could be one of the rates that are excluded from being eligible. Some ‘special fares’ are included and others are not. Your T A will be able to advise you but sadly I think these bundle type fares are excluded from eligibility. For example I sometimes travel on a Friends and Family rate and these fares are not eligible so I can’t claim OBC. You could ask your T A to make good the OBC you could have received had you booked at a different fare type. It’s not really shape practice as Shareholder benefits do say in their T and C that certain fare types are excluded and therefore it’s up to you to decide if you want to book on that rate knowing you are not going to get your shareholders benefit. Sorry to paint a gloomy picture. Hopefully your TA can sort it for you to your satisfaction. .
  9. I think they are referring to that when they say you were given a net rate discount
  10. It may be because you have been given a special / discounted fare. Shareholder benefit may not be available on all fare types particularly some discounted ones or special concession rates .
  11. Hospitals still use pagers well at least the one where my daughter works does. Hers is constantly in use.
  12. French onion soup the hot lemon soufflé pudding lasagne for lunch in Britannia Golden Lion - chicken curry fish and chips Beef Wellington
  13. I had that table with twice on QM in August and September. Great waiter Agung I think the other chap was Jose with him ? They had my preferences down to a tee. My soft roll would be waiting for me. Head waiter Roy great chap too. I just had the table for one as a solo. I am on again in November but he said he was going home for the dry dock and not back until December which is a shame or I would have asked for that table again.
  14. That’s my understanding anything over 100% is attributable to the number of berths in the 3&4 berth cabins being occupied.
  15. I don’t think this is available in advance. It’s just a case of waiting to see what’s offered once onboard. Happy to be corrected but I have never known until the cruise itself.
  16. At the moment a 100 will be around the £1000 mark. You don’t have to do too many cruises to recoup that, still have the shares and benefit from more ‘free OBC ‘ when you have covered your outlay. Who knows might in the future get dividends again.
  17. So far I have never had an issue with alcohol in checked luggage.
  18. I have only seen it in the booking confirmation and then again when onboard. Similarly you only see the WC WiFi allowance after you have purchased and it’s deducted.
  19. Thank you for sharing the programmes. Bought back happy memories.
  20. I keep toying with the idea of air tags . I must admit I am relieved to see my luggage appear. I keep saying they are a waste of money as I never fly but for piece of mind they are on the ship or quayside would be good. I wouldn’t put anything valuable in a suitcase. Like many others I do have cruise only clothes shoes etc… I hope everyone gets everything sorted. It reminds me of a story I read once years ago . A lady was at the desk because her luggage had not made it onboard. Also in the queue was the actress Liz Dawn who played Vera Duckworth in Coronation Street. On overhearing the lady’s dismay she only had a few clothes to wear and no evening wear, she invited her to her cabin to borrow items from her wardrobe until her own luggage turned up. What a kind generous offer.
  21. All cruise lines stock is low . They are all carrying billions of dollars of debt because of the pause in operations which they are slowly making inroads into. I think it’s quite condescending to people who enjoy Butlins type holidays to imply they should not be able to take a P& O cruise. P & O cruises are for everyone. Everyone’s money is equal. I grew up going to Butlins as it’s all we could afford. I am fortunate enough to be able to afford P&O and Cunard cruises now and enjoy the variety of friendly people I meet. Interesting on my last Britannia cruise more than 2/3 were new to cruise similar even greater percentage on a recent Cunard 14 day T A.
  22. Cunard staff do not load the luggage. It’s done by port authority workers employed or subcontracted to / by ABP in Southampton. Can’t speak for USA . They (Cunard)load the cages onboard for disembarkation but the moving of them off the ship is handled by the stevedores.
  23. Can’t remember which ship and when but I have seen Four D ‘s and enjoyed them. One of the best acts I enjoyed recently was the two chaps playing the one piano. Can’t remember their names.
