  1. Actually ship's time and local time do NOT always match. 97% of places -Yes. Newfoundland is not in synch (30 minutes off) so not always a match. On the Mexican Riviera the ship will make one change instead of three and thus not always match. Some strange Caribbean time issues too. In Europe ship's time has always matched local time with a notice on you bed and in the daily program. Tour operators absolutely should be aware of ship's time.
  2. I would double check about any battery to operate a cpap. That could definitely be a possible fire hazard and might be banned. We used a cord. No idea why it would be either dirty (cords delivered to us always looked nearly new) or taped down. We put the cord from the desk to the bed on the side away from the bath when retiring. Stored under the bed at other times.
  3. Really? Monterey effective March 1st closed the port by cutting off all on shore staff. Not the fault of Celebrity The whale issue with slower speeds is new for 2023. Obviously effects schedules. How are either of these the fault of Celebrity. I would hope that any passenger who is unhappy could cancell without penalty.
  4. The OP stated a refundable fare was booked. Need the OP to come back as it still appears to either be a TA fee on a refundable fare or Celebrity charging from a NRD fare
  5. No. Those benefits do not cross brands. The upgrade is on class of cabin. NOT one category. Again the upgrade is only within the category you book. Thus book a veranda and you can get a veranda cabin in a slightly better location. Nothing more. Saves usually $20-50 using numbers from my TA. As said you must do this at booking and if there are no cabins in the higher class you are out of luck. No waitlist.
  6. Pretty much EVERY bar except the Martini Bar. Your Seapass is labeled with your Captain's Club status. Just give it to the bartender. You are actually not limited to only the drink items on the list. Bartenders will make pretty much any drink using the listed liquors. If you are not sure - just ask if your beverage choice is covered. Beers are very limited. Wines are low end - you order by type of grape, not winery. Chardonnay, Merlot etc. Different bars often pour wine from different wineries
  7. Agree. Boarding lately has gone very smoothly. Under 10 minutes to get checked in last cruise. About 30 minutes wait to board. Very fast. Being able to drop carry on stuff at the cabin really helps. No need for tripping over suitcases while getting lunch.
  8. Your Seapass says Elite. Thus if you do not have a drink package you can get pretty much anything covered by the Classic Package. On our last cruise there were lots of substitutions. If you ordered a martini they would make my wife a small one often using the vodka they had on hand nearby. If that was Titos they poured Titos.
  9. With US passport nothing else. Most other countries an ESTA or a few a visa.
  10. Agree. West coast itineraries are in a state of Flux. Both dealing with slower speeds regarding whales and the politics in Monterey makes for confusion. Cruiselines are attempting to please all involved.
  11. If you are Elite then your spouse is eligible to be Elite as well. Just notify Captain's Club.
  12. Have not found this to be true is the bartenders are not that busy. Bartenders can make pretty much any drink you order. They are not restricted to only making those on the menu. I do not care for martinis. They have often made my DW a smaller version and poured me a glass on wine.
  13. Am not sure of where the $200 is from any more than the OP. One needs to select a TA carefully. Jim_Iain said it quite well to ask a number of questions. A good TA is worth thousands of dollars. Most big box TAs, sadly, nothing
  14. You need to look at your documents. A $100 fee for changes is common from Celebrity. Have never seen $200 ever on a refundable fare from X. Is your TA charging a fee? If so maybe a new TA? Definitely check out a couple TAs and ask them. Compare cancellation and rebook with a change. It is often cheaper and Definitely easier. Let us know what you find out.
  15. When we had prepaid gratuities like as part of AI, the gratuities were posted daily to our cruise account and the reversed on our billing. We had no sense of any expectations from crew about gratuities, but always hand some $$ to where I will be getting my drinks and $$ to those that gave special services. We also took time to name those who went beyond in our review and a note to guest relations.
  16. The upgrade fairy has been asleep for quite a while. You can certainly ask and while possible; upgrades are very rare since MoveUp was put in place. As lille as 3 days out they sell those wanting to upgrade.
  17. Shop owners in Belguim and the Netherlands are used to lots of Brits and Americans. Many will accept £ or $. Fewer $Cdn. You indeed could give you crew members. Again only exchange enough to pay for your tour. Will they not accept a credit card? Our problem has been coins for toilets. Finally learned to ask a shop.owner for a few coins when making a purchase. They will know and HAVE the required coin.
  18. Suggest the OP go to the FAQ on the Celebrity website. There is no corkage fee if one has a beverage package. If one does not you may have a corkage fee when you bring on board. Wine definitely needs to be carried on as putting it in your checked luggage usually results in a delay getting your stuff to verify the contents in the "naughty room."
  19. You never know what will open up suite wise. For a reservation for more than those in your cabin you need to do it on board. Very complicated otherwise. Boarding usually starts around 10am. Takes a couple hours with preferences tosuites and Captain's Club members . Chic nights depend on your itinerary. Will be almost always on a sea day. Few will dress up in a tux or suit on Celebrity. Fewer yet on a short Caribbean cruise. Many posters get frustrated as most questions can be answered by reading info on the Celebrity website or doing a search on Cruise Critic.
  20. Plusses are atmosphere and decorations. Minuses are ship will be full - really full - lots of families with children and many of those first timers on board We would do a New Years cruise. We would NOT do another Christmas cruise.
  21. drakes2 - the only time we used cash for our last trip to Europe (3 weeks) was for a pay toilet. Even taxis took cards. Use an ATM at the cruise ship terminal to get the cash for your tour. As said purchase in the local currency. If you have a few £ left over spend them in Southampton or they will accept them in Leharve or Bruges or Amsterdam. Our problem was getting coins worth under $1USD for a toilet!
  22. There is no difference. They have simply reclassified some more popular cabins
  23. Obviously if you have a sofa or dropdown bed there will always need to be morning and evening service to set up and take down that bed.
  24. Not worth doing. With the widening of the canal little to see on the lake. Tour better from Caribbean side as Colon is a town. Pacific side is a grim port.
