  1. I found that the overhang in one of the Aqua rooms in the midsection (where this is an overhang) could interfere with some of the view when close to shore. However, I felt that the view from Blu more than made up for it, whether looking at the scenery or watching porpoises while dining - we always asked for a window table.
  2. Maybe it's their turn to be irritated by smokers? Cruise lines sure are not in the business of helping us quit addictions.
  3. Given the lack of regulation and potential carcinogens, I want to know where such vapors exist so I can exert some control over my own exposure, so I agree with davekathy:
  4. Uh, does that mean I just violated the guidelines in that last post?
  5. That info is on the standard CC benefits matrix found here: https://secure.viewer.zmags.com/publication/9ca4feeb#/9ca4feeb/1 Second page, far right side, bottom portion of the Cocktail Hour menu.
  6. It has come up before, back in March, and my post #2 suggests someone mentioned it before that: https://boards.cruisecritic.com.au/topic/2837568-elevate-package-obc-for-shore-excursions-only/ Granted this was for the Elevate package but that doesn't matter. I do not recall anyone saying that they were ever actually limited to certain uses.
  7. This is not a good answer, just something to consider. The club terms say this (emphasis mine): Your Captain's Club membership falls into one of six tiers: Preview (prior to sailing), Classic (after first completed cruise), Select (after earning 150 Club Points), Elite (after earning 300 Club Points), Elite Plus (after earning 750 Club Points) and Zenith (after earning 3,000 Club Points). After you complete qualifying sailings, your membership will automatically advance to the applicable membership level. You will enjoy your new membership benefits on the sailing after you reach the next membership level. This was probably written before you could get points any way other than sailing. But it certainly gives them the opportunity to deny benefits until someone has completed one sailing. Celebrity probably sees the advantage of granting benefits such that even first-time cruisers have some sense of belonging.
  8. I would add one small thing to this. The links they provide for the quizzes are the tip of the iceberg. Celebrity has put a large of amount of information on their site about the many ports and destinations they serve. It is all to easy to peruse their site and never come across these pages. They can be a very useful resource when trying learn about the area to which one intends to travel. Whether I want to take the quiz myself, use the answers someone else provides, or just read criticisms of how others take the quiz, at least I have been exposed to the wealth of information provided on the Celebrity site whether or not I wish to make use of that information.
  9. The Captain's Club terms say "Complimentary 90 premium minutes for Elite and 240 premium minutes for Elite Plus will still apply. These minutes must be used before any basic minutes included in your ticket." (https://www.celebritycruises.com/captains-club/join-the-club) I don't know if/when/how they enforce that, or if it's even current since they don't update the site very often.
  10. FWIW, the excursion brochure I can get from those links is not accurate. For my December cruise, it shows excursions that are not available in the online planner, and does not show all the excursions that are available in the planner. The overlap is small. It used to be better, but that brochure is close to useless at this time. This may not be true for others.
  11. I had something that appeared similar but when I looked at the details, the difference was mostly gratuities that don't appear in the advertised price and get added back at checkout anyway, so the actual savings was very minimal and not worth any effort.
  12. This is going to be hard to read, but here's a shot of the Wifi benefits
  13. They pasted a large banner thing over the old menu. One way around this is to find an old bookmark that links to a page that lacks this addition. It's perhaps a long way to go to get around this change, but here's one: https://www.celebritycruises.com/excursion-brochure/celebrity/ Many pages you can go from here still slap that addition on the page.
  14. I believe the current upgrade cost, including gratuity, is $18. Then you should get a discount of 10% for being Classic in Capt Club. However, my planner currently shows a sale that might confuse things - they probably won't combine the discounts.
  15. There is a difference between upgrading to Elevate and Indulge vs just upgrading the beverage package. For Elevate and Indulge, Celebrity used to have this in the FAQ, but seem to have removed it. They said this Q: If a guest books Always Included and sometime later decides they want to add on the Elevate or Indulge package, will they have to shift to prevailing rate, or will we protect the original Always Included rate they booked at? A: If a guest would like to upgrade from Always Included to the Elevate or Indulge package after the original booking is made, their reservation will be converted to prevailing Always Included pricing on the day the package is added. So you'd basically be rebooking. But you can upgrade just the beverage package or just the Wi-Fi package without doing the entire Elevate or Indulge upgrade (price subject to change): How can a guest upgrade from classic beverage package to premium beverage package when they book the Always Included package? If a guest books their cruise with Always Included package pricing and would like to upgrade their Classic Beverage Package to the Premium Beverage Package, they may do so via our Cruise Planner platform once their booking is within final payment. The upgrade charge will be $18 per person per day which includes the beverage gratuity. Guests may not purchase a beverage upgrade before final payment when they book Always Included. Alternatively, guests may also upgrade their beverage package from Classic to Premium once onboard the ship.
  16. There is an older, short thread related to this. It sounds like you get very little for the cost.
  17. You can look here: https://www.celebritycruises.com/captains-club/tiers-and-benefits or download the flier here: https://secure.viewer.zmags.com/publication/9ca4feeb#/9ca4feeb/1
  18. I think that MoveUp bonus functionally serves as a tie-breaker. If two tiers bid identically, the upper tier wins. I think it does nothing more than that.
  19. I posted about drink package discount increasing. It turns out there are more changes to the Captain's Club program. See here: https://www.celebritycruises.com/captains-club/program-changes You'll find the drink package discounts discussed, member events, and interesting changes (I think they are changes) to the MoveUp program where your tier gives you a bonus over your bid. I fully expect an email from Celebrity since these are more substantial than just the drinks.
  20. It looks like Celebrity recently, and quietly, increased the discounts for drink packages and upgrades for various Captain's Club levels. Old info: New info: The columns on the right are Classic, Select and Elite. Elite Plus also got a small increase. There might have been other changes but this is what caught my attention. Peanuts perhaps but not quite nothing. It might not offset the recent price increase but dulls the pain, just like the packages themselves.
  21. I think this is still an active program. It is still listed on the T's & C's for Captain's Club, and also at this active link: https://www.celebritycruises.com/about-us/sustainability-efforts But you never know for sure.
  22. From the FAQ (https://www.celebritycruises.com/faqs/always-included) (warning - the answers are actually shifted one spot from where they should be): How can a guest upgrade from classic beverage package to premium beverage package when they book the Always Included package? If a guest books their cruise with Always Included package pricing and would like to upgrade their Classic Beverage Package to the Premium Beverage Package, they may do so via our Cruise Planner platform once their booking is within final payment. The upgrade charge will be $18 per person per day which includes the beverage gratuity. Guests may not purchase a beverage upgrade before final payment when they book Always Included. Alternatively, guests may also upgrade their beverage package from Classic to Premium once onboard the ship.
  23. Celebrity has a blog that discusses what a butler (Retreat Host) can do for you: https://www.celebritycruises.com/blog/cruise-butler It is a short list titled "5 Ways a Personal Retreat Host Enhances Your Cruise Vacation". And it sounds like your experience did not match the list.
  24. Yes, their website contradicts itself frequently. Once we know the actual policy, here's an article to be updated: https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=31
