Bon Voyage! My stepfather and I were on Niew Statendam in August for 24 days. Crew is top notch and we loved the food. We enjoyed our cruise - very relaxing. There's something for everyone.

dmcfad2 - I agree with you. In spite of many changes, I still love HAL. I have been on other cruise lines and I think HAL has the best crew. My stepfather and I were on Niew Statendam in August for 24 days. Only problem was at cruise terminal on embarkation day. That may have been Port Authority's fault. Once we got on board, everything was great. We loved the food and service and itinerary. We look forward to sailing with HAL again. I'm glad you had a great cruise.

albingirl - I agree with you. The crew work very hard and they deserve a nice tip. I'm sorry about the devastation in Florida. I hope things will improve soon.

Jenny - Thanks for posting the pics! You and your friends are heroes!!!! It's amazing that you could see the raft in the dark. A true miracle.

Timing is everything! Shadd, his friends and all the Rotterdam crew did a terrific job quickly to save those people. They would not have survived much longer. Congratulations to all!

A Yum Yum man used to walk around the lounges at the start of dinner and his chimes would remind people that dinner was starting. He wore a red uniform and red hat. After dinner in the MDR, he would offer after dinner butter mints and ginger to people as they were leaving the dining room. A very nice tradition. I hope HAL will bring it back.

Djptcp - When I was on the Niew Statendam in August, I bought some electrolyte drinks for my stepfather. I brought them onboard in the HAL tote bag. Bag went through scanner and no one said anything.

Thanks for the update. Glad they were rescued. They will be happy to hsve a good meal, hot shower and a nice bed to sleep in after all they have been through. The crew on Rotterdam and the passenger who spotted the raft did a great job. 🥂😊

There are no more comment cards and no more daily newspapers left in the mailbox outside the cabin, but they want people to sign a receipt for every drink. I thought that the beverage package was to eliminate receipts.
