  1. We have handled these as No Shows - the person simply does not show up. If you tell them he's not coming, cancel him or change the booking, they will refare it.
  2. We booked a hotel across the river. Others on this thread mentioned apartments as an option. Thanks for letting us know about AirBnB and Vrbo; the apartments I saw were on Booking.com.
  3. @HlitnerWe're doing Yokohama to Seattle next spring, so very interested - 20-25' for how many days?
  4. We have pre paid grats (not part of enhanced HIA) on an upcoming cruise. It shows on the invoice from HAL, we booked direct not through TA. Hoping we don't have that experience - it will have a different outcome as we will not pay $$ or use OBC to cover them. I certainly don't want the very hardworking crew to be short changed, but I'm not participating in cruiseline double dipping. I really don't think HAL would intentionally do that and hope it was a very unfortunate oversight.
  5. My favorite cabins on the ship - definitely my Happy Place.
  6. I have taken advantage of this a few times and have also turned it down - so made aware of it on multiple occasions, but have never seen it promoted. Buy 7 day thermalpass for $149. Ask to see the discount sheet for booking additional services. They'll show you a 1 page sheet with 3 columns; there are different levels among the 3 columns. You can potentially book something else that isn't listed - just ask (I always get Reflexology even though it's not listed). You'll receive a discount on the services you book AND they'll re-ring the Thermalpass at $99 so you save $50 on it. That makes a 7 day pass the same price as 2 single passes. It's a really good deal if you're wanting other services - get discount on BOTH the services and Thermalpass. I did this in May on Eurodam, Feb on N Amsterdam, Dec on K'dam, and Oct on N Statendam. Side note: if you want a Thermalpass, you can buy a 1 day for $50 then pay the difference ($99) to upgrade if you later decide you want the full week. While it's technically not a discount, it does allow you to save $50 by not paying for both.
  7. @BM3260 also factor in a generous tip 😉
  8. Hey @familycruising4ever we are going out of NYC in Sept and really struggled to find what we considered an affordable hotel that was semi-convenient to Manhattan cruise terminal. We only needed 1 night and were hoping to be all in <$200. CC posters suggested not staying on the other side of the river, but that's where the majority of hotels in our budget are located. The ones on this side of the river that fit our criteria required booking for more than 1 night. There were many private apartments available - you may want to look at those.
  9. @AFS1970 I am not on FB, so I won't see the other things being arranged; if it's not here on CC Roll Call I won't know about it.🫣 Post #34 has my question about sail away crawl and @Jamman54 good info about the timing of seeing key sights at sail away.
  10. Hey @TxTeach79 my phone must have been in your class - it does "the flag thing" when sending alerts!!
  11. @DespegueI saw your other post saying no need to stand in the full line, but also see the other posts saying the opposite. I am not accustomed to standing in the full line, but rather treating each area as a section, so just going where I need to go and get in that line. But not having been on Venezia before (sailed Carnival just not Venezia) I'm trying to find out the way her buffet works. I sure have no interest in being seen on YT as the next victim of a brawl because I skipped past the noodles, lol.
  12. Pinnacle Grill breakfast is a lovely experience; we miss it when not in a NS.
  13. I have never asked them to do that, but have read posts saying it is done. I pack my stuff, my sister does not. In the new cabin her stuff that was in drawers is in drawers, so maybe they are moving the drawers. We're always at breakfast and/or doing the "kindergarten field trip" so we've never seen the actual move.
  14. People that got approved for the AARP OBC report they have been seeing $50 in their account then when it gets applied to a specific booking, the $50 is gone. I think it's the way HAL is accounting for the AARP OBC - kind of like it's on hold/reserve. When it gets applied to a booking, the amount could be different as the actual amount you receive depends on cabin type and length of cruise. The $50 "hold" is the minimum.
  15. Absolutely agree on booking the cabin you want and moving the 2nd leg - it's really no big deal to move since Cabin Stewards move you. Just pick up your new key when you head to breakfast on Turnaround Day. We've done several B2B both staying in same cabin and also changing cabins; I appreciate the extra cruise time and find it far outweighs the very small amount of inconvenience of changing cabins. As other posters mentioned, keep checking to see if the cabin you want opens up and get moved if it does. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  16. No desire to focus on negatives - there is much to like, heck even to love, about cruising HAL or I wouldn't continue to do it. With that said, my one real little jab is OBC related: 1) not being able to see $$ amount and type of OBC in my bookings (yes I know I can get an invoice from TA or HAL) - I'd like to see it in the booking on the website🫣 2) not being able to use OBC prior to boarding to pay for excursions, dining, etc (yes I know how to get it moved once onboard) - I'd like to not have to make special requests in this age of technology 🙄🤔 Oh, wait, there is 1 more not OBC related - cannot get HIA on certain bookings no matter who I call - that really annoys me, especially when it causes me to spend more $$ than I would have had I been able to buy HIA.🥵 Not bad enough to make me leave HAL, but you did ask... When the "peeves" become "deal breakers" and the bad exceeds the good, then I'll go. Until then, I'm happy and blessed to be 4* working my way to 5*.😊
  17. While it may have gone up vs couples pass, it is the same price as it has been for singles. $149/7 day cruise, so $299/14 days is right in line. And is a huge discount over the daily charge of $50/day. You can get a further discount if you buy other services. Not everyone needs a couples pass.
  18. Hey @BetsyS. you can "unlike" the post (no offense AuntMeg) by clicking it again. When you go to the post, your reaction will have an "x" by it on the right side. Just click it and it will remove your "like."
  19. YAY! And does this keep me from standing by the seafood section? I avoid seafood.
  20. And the prize is Soap on a Rope!! Let the party begin and the good times roll!!🚢🥳 And if you can fit 2 people over the age of 10 in that shower at same time, good for you!!🫣
  21. Hi - also haven't seen anything along the lines of a Meet n Greet/Meet n Mingle but I did suggest a Sail Away Crawl and offered our balcony to participate for anyone wanting to see Statue of Liberty and the harbor from various cabins. Let me know if you're interested - I don't know the original post number, but it is in this thread.
  22. Thanks @mar214 for the reminder to request Pope tickets - we're also planning to go and will request our tickets today.
