Pirate’s LIVE “Family Reunion” on the HORIZON…Dec 3-9, 2023
lazydayz replied to pirate4me2's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Also following. Love your reviews. -
The port of Miami on Sunday is crazy. On our last cruise from there, it took us over two hours to get from downtown to the port. That day, there was an overturned tanker in the tunnel, and for whatever reason, they only had one lane open going over the bridge to the port. It took so long we didn’t even bother with the parking garage. Just found an open lot and walked over to the terminal. This is an issue that should be addressed by Miami-Dade, the City of Miami, DOT and the cruise lines. Complimentary shuttles from the airports and downtown would cut down on the traffic, but I know the Port doesn’t want to lose the parking charges, the cruise lines want to charge for shuttles, and taxi companies, Uber and Lyft would lose revenue. Or they could move some of these ships to Saturday or to Fort Lauderdale.

Since the in-laws haven’t cruised before, I would pick a smaller ship. Given the prices, I would pick the Magic. While I love the MG, it is a lot of walking and requires more planning.

Sorry for the loss of your dad. -
your most memorable CCL Cruise Director moments
lazydayz replied to havanadaydreaming's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
For low key good fun, we really enjoyed Chloe on our Journeys cruise on the Miracle. For high energy fun, the Flying Scotsman and Mike Pack. For old time muster drill, Dr. E. He kept me laughing during the insanely long muster drills. -
Buyer Beware please read this as it is extremely important

We booked an Iceland tour with her. There were several issues. The first being all the other busses showed up on time, but we (four bus loads) were left us standing out in the cold for an hour. While Carnival did say we would arriving late, all the other tour companies went ahead and had their busses there when we arrived. The second issue was returning to the ship. The tour guide kept adding stops until one brave person asked when we were going back to the ship. He said we were supposed to be back at 6:00, but our ship left before that! We all told him take us back to the ship now. Even after that, he tried to get us to agree to another stop! No way, and luckily, we were all pretty vocal at that point. And we were the last bus to arrive back at the port. -
Spirit Diamond brunch/cocktail party
lazydayz replied to wwwcruisers's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
That is odd. Sorry you didn’t get the Diamond “brunch.” It really is lunch. I don’t recall a single breakfast item. Our entree choices were filet, gnocchi or crab cake. -
It is hit or miss with us, except on the Mardi Gras where the service was usually fast. However, I agree with the previous poster. I would pick the offer with free drinks everywhere and lesser Fun Play, if I have the choice.

Spirit Diamond brunch/cocktail party
lazydayz replied to wwwcruisers's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Pretty sure all ships are doing the Diamond brunch now. There were over 100 Diamonds on the Pride last week, and we had a lovely lunch on the first sea day. -
we have talked to cabin stewards about assistants and were told they have to recruit their assistants from the crew and the cabin stewards directly compensate their assistants. That makes sense to me, since some stewards don’t have them and others have them occasionally but not every day. Just off the Pride today and our steward did not have an assistant. Juan has been with Carnival for 31 years, and hopes to retire at 35 years.

Yikes. I have not dealt with a problem like this but wish you the best of luck. Getting Carnival to fix errors takes a lot of patience and determination.

Still a great ship though. We were on her for 12 nights this summer, and will be boarding again on November 12. Looking forward to seeing some of our favorite staff members and playing table shuffleboard in the Red Frog Pub. And getting back to the Caribbean. Dublin and Iceland were amazing, but looking forward to being back in the warm Caribbean Sea.

Fairly recent. I don’t get it but Carnival claims the demand was so high for ChiBang, they were doing this to give everyone access. It was my least favorite restaurant on both MG and Celebration. -
Upon embarkation, go to the MDR and ask for a table for two. If you have first seating, you will always have the same table for dinner.

I have seen exactly this. And they deactivate their sign and sail card so if they were to leave, they couldn't get back in.

Glad you are home and have the tribe cruise to look forward to.

Loft 19 Cabanas on Celebration
lazydayz replied to Cruisin4aBruisin73's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Interesting. Between the regular gratuity and the Loft 19 one, we are about $500 in tips for the week. Add in the per drink $1 and probably at $550, then a little extra for the cabin steward, the dining teams, and the Loft 19 attendants and we are over $700 in tips. No wonder Carnival sends me “free” cruise offers.. lol 😝 -
Glad you are back and feeling better. Hope you have a great sea day, with lots of good food and 🍹

You can request a table in the MDR, Cucina, or ChiBang via the app, order room service or pizza ($) through the app, or walk up at Pig and Anchor, Emerill's, Guy's Burgers, Big Chicken, Street Eats, Java Blue, the buffet, or most of the other options. You likely need reservations for the Steakhouse and Rudi's, and possibly at Bonsai. One of the things we love about the MG is all of the dining options!
