  1. The downside of sail away far exceeds the savings. Just uncheck the gratuities of Free at Sea and pick your cabin.
  2. "Upgrading" to Free at Sea is not something we experience in the US. Interesting.
  3. I will never understand the desire to sit on the plane for an hour between flights. I need the walk to my connecting flight just to return to a sense of normalcy, for a bit.
  4. Get to the port after 1:00 pm. You should essentially walk on.
  5. More detail, please. Bid price? Upgrade price vs. your bid price? Upgrading from what to what? We need to know this stuff!
  6. Hmm. I've never actually used a water slide on a ship, but I always knew I could if I wanted to. Not sure how I'd feel if they weren't there.
  7. Yes, that's why someone suggesting a "raised seal" isn't always possible. I won't trust what will or will not be accepted. Get a frickin' passport before you book a cruise. Common sense.
  8. Is there a reason you started this thread when you just posted the exact same thing in another?
  9. Ugh. Original, if possible. Raised seal, if possible. Notarized, if necessary. No photocopies. How long ago did they book? Get a passport next time.
  10. Mr. Schmoopie, unless you and the Mrs. have completely separate accounts, you are treated as one. It doesn't matter. Yes, it will pull the $20 from Mrs. account. You are both combined, for better or worse. 🤣
  11. The treats are nice. The early (125 days) booking for dining can be a real plus. But it's all about the bathroom. Two adults can stand side by side at the sink, and the shower lets a 230 lb. guy freely move around. For about $400 or so (average), we won't ever go back to a regular balcony.
  12. The answer is always yes, especially on the weekends. It is working fine for me on Edge, however.
  13. This was the case the first night on the Escape. Full ship to Bermuda and the first night was a cluster. We had reservations and walked in. Strongly recommend reservations for the first night. After that it was walk-in at any of the three MDR's.
  14. So, you're saying this was just an outlier, and you don't do it on a regular basis, right?
  15. Since you just posted this in another thread, I'll answer here as well. It is likely that onshore staff goes home at 5:00. You can't get on a ship if there is no one to transfer your bags, scan your carry-ons, or check you in. Yes, they will just wave at you and sail away.
  16. I don't know. But is there a particular reason you would want to risk that very scenario? I would expect that onshore staff goes home at 5 pm.
  17. Those are quintessential hashbrowns. Rosti my arse.... 🤣
  18. Yes, just as NCL also applies to Oceania and Regent. We're trying Holland next August, but I don't think it's worth investing just for a possible one-off.
  19. 1. In my head I'm thinking it's been a gradual thing starting with Cagney's and Le Bistro, and then spreading. 2. There are ports (Miami and New York come to mind) that charge a small tax on drinks ordered while in port. Then there's the whole EU thing, which I haven't experienced. 3. Standard NCL customer service. You should all get an FCC, just once.
  20. I certainly consider it a dividend. And to be blunt, no amount of shareholder benefit would get me on a Carnival ship.
  21. I trust you accidentally started a thread when you meant to do a search? 😄
  22. Answers every.single.question you just asked. Answer the phone, seriously.
