  1. Cocktail party might have been for returning guests ,which is almost everybody..And it’s put on by the captain Circle department -sometimes referred to as the captains circle cocktail party. Maybe that’s what they were referring to?? Yes if you eat early in the dining room you would probably miss most of the 5 to 7 PM platinum, elite, and suite lounge area. My experience is , no they never checked to make sure that you’re in that category before you enter the lounge. The only time that they use to check in the past is if the “cheaper drink” that was on special that you qualified for that, but now that most people have the drink package kind of defeats that purpose on that. Agree if you already have the beverage package not a big deal for a little food beforehand as you can get food almost anywhere on the ship. Just wanted to make sure that you knew that it was available as a platinum member. Enjoy your cruise, thanks for posting this great live from.
  2. You will probably dock at WICO which is the west India company dock or commonly referred to as Havensight. But I agree with the other posts, just check out St. Thomas port schedule, you can Google it or however else you get your info. They have the schedule online for the port of St.Thomas
  3. On this thread ( post 233) somebody posted a picture of their disembarkation paper that they turned in and it’s $29 for a princess transfer to the Vancouver airport and it could be charged to your onboard account if you wanted it to. I do believe your travel agent can add it prior to cruising as well .
  4. Ken the cruiser- Great pictures and great live from ,enjoyed following along. I do have a question on a comment post number 544 . When you say you’re only platinum and there was a private function going on. Pretty sure it’s elite, platinum, and suites can attend from 5 PM to 7 PM in the past there was always a card in your cabin to let you know the location and the menu , I don’t know what they’re doing now with less papers & medallion and yes sometimes the steward forgot to put one in our cabin and we had to ask . Pretty sure that private function ( club fusion)is applicable to you as well unless they started separating out elites in a separate section. Pretty much it’s just a buffet of food ( served)and a special price for a few drinks. We always utilized it for a little snack before dinner as we always ate dinner after 7 PM and we would meet friends and or family there as well. Nice relaxing area to do so. And the ships that have Skywalkers ,great view from up there while enjoying our appetizers and drinks .
  5. Someone on the Crown currently has posted a few Patters( newsletter). Here is the dining times for Crown Princess. May 7 which was the embarkation day in DaVinci dining room open from 7 AM to 9 AM for breakfast, noon to 130 for lunch, and 5 PM to 930 for dinner . day number two which was a Sea day the same times. Michelangelo dining room says it’s closed . Boticelli dining room for both of those days said 5 PM to 9:30 PM. Day three May 9 in Ketchikan -da Vinci dining room open 7 AM to 9 AM for breakfast and then 5 PM to 9:30 PM for dinner. Day four which was May 10 in Skagway -da Vinci dining room open 7 AM to 9 AM for breakfast, noon to 130 for lunch, and 5 PM to 9:30 PM for dinner. I didn’t look that carefully at the Boticelli dining room ,but I have a feeling it was open every evening from 5 to 930pm. All the dining rooms except for specialty will serve the same menu for dinner. Nothing special that I know of on first night. As far as taking your carry-on to your cabin on embarkation day ,it really depends on what time you board, but rooms can be available at noon time to 1 PM .sometimes the fire doors are closed and you cannot drop off any luggage .sometimes they’re open & your room is ready, you just never know exactly. Take a look at the current sailing ( posts)of the Crown-and you can probably look at it more in detail. Title says live from the crown return to service May 7
  6. No “ set” traditional dining for right now on Princess ships. So yes it’s anytime or what Princess is calling Dine my way ,I think. You go anytime you want within the dining room opening hours. But yes ,you can make a reservation which kind of defeats the purpose of going anytime as you’re describing. Yes, Book specialty dining before you get on the ship, unless you have lots of onboard credit or a dining voucher from a travel agent or something like that you usually need to wait to get on board to book. Although I would probably join your Roll Call if you have not already and see if there’s any live from the week before your cruise or two weeks before your cruise because some ships have said you can make Crown Grill or Sabatini‘s reservations online/ medallion, but when they’re actually on the ship one of them have been closed the entire cruise.
  7. I hope you don’t test positive. The “ right”/ responsible way to get to Seattle is Probably very isolated,no public transport. Best to stay in Canada until the isolation/ quarantine time is up. But I guess it depends on if Princess tests you or if you do a proctored online test, or a pierside test what instructions or information you are given if positive.
  8. I so agree, I can not imagine carry on only on a cruise. Seems lots can though. Kudos to them.
  9. I’ve always traveled with a carry-on and a checked suitcase. Sometimes the cabins are available to go drop off your carry-on and sometimes they’re not depending on what time you board.Sometimes the fire doors are totally closed and you cannot get to your cabin. So are you saying your cruise is in 10 days or the length of your cruise is 10 days? Because if the length of my cruise was 10 days, I would definitely need a carry-on and a suitcase or two ,that I check in with the workers at the curb . Have a great cruise.
  10. To op/author-I just read on another thread that all Discovery Princess embarkations starting May 15th out of Seattle will leave at 3 pm and not 4 pm. So you may not have enough time to do lunch with friends if you get onboard first???
  11. I say go for it. Life is short and no regrets.
