  1. Not exactly the same topic but… Once you’re onboard see if there is an end of cruise tour that takes you to the airport. Sometimes there’s some tours that you put your luggage on the bus and then you go tour around FLL and then they drop you and your luggage off at the airport. ($60./ person) usually for flights after 4 PM. Or we have rented a car before and went to lunch & drove along the coast ,stopped at some beaches. And the other thing that we’ve done in Fort Lauderdale is rent a day room when my husband wasn’t feeling good and we had a flight between 6 PM and 8 PM and the hotel included free transportation. So probably a few choices out there depending on what you want to do and what your budget is .
  2. Princess sails from San Pedro, correct. Pier 92/93 most of the time. Address 100 Swinford St.( Los Angeles world cruise center)
  3. Wanted is an excellent band as well as double vision . We have seen them at Casino Arizona many times. I would go on a cruise just for that. But I’m not cruising right now .
  4. Cdngrl- oops The filming sign says please don’t post this on social media . Good information for passengers onboard though ,if they don’t want to be part of the filming.
  5. ceilidh1- Great job going to the gym and trying to navigate your way to deck 9 front and back, I’d say time to go to the bar . I’m definitely arm chairing your cruise . I’m not ready to cruise with masks on so, I love hearing everyone’s perspective on their cruises and yours is great .not too many out there live from Posts, yours is very informative.
  6. Yikes, I guess this friend won’t be invited on another vacation with you.Wow and refused crown grill ! I feel for all of you. Time for another drink.
  7. As others have said it’s probably definitely possible. But it just really depends on when you’re able to get on the ship timewise ( i.e. how early. )Sometimes you can get on the ship early ,but sometimes you can’t go to your cabin and drop off hand luggage . Sometimes the fire doors are closed and they don’t allow you into your cabin until a certain time. Check back and let us know what actually transpired. Seems to me the earliest I’ve ever seen anybody get on is around 11:30 AM on most cruises that depart at either 4 PM or 5 PM . While it’s not the Discovery P.,there is a live from the Royal P.that left out of Vancouver September 17 and there’s lots of great step-by-step information from the author/OP .
  8. Vino100- Well if you’re asking about the Royal Princess currently there is a live from thread( check it out, I believe it says live from the Royal Princess September 17 or something like that ) and yes masks are currently being required, but a passenger on board says there are sip & cover signs everywhere and there was a letter in their cabin that says masks required ,but many passengers according to the live from author says passengers are not wearing masks. Perhaps it will change when the itinerary changes for the Royal??
  9. YOU might be aware? your title doesn’t Match question. Might be able to get title changed.
  10. ceilidh1- following along with you on your live from. Great /funny information. Especially your drinks . Fun cruise. Cheers!
  11. No one can predict better flight time except you. If everything goes as planned and you do walk off probably can make the 10:30 AM flight but you never know if the ship gets in late into Fort Lauderdale or there’s a issue with clearing the ship etc. etc. Understand your plight with the 410pm flight is quite late and what the heck do you do with all the time on your hands. I would rent a car or get a day use room or go on a Princess tour that drops off at the airport if feasible.
  12. Check with your Airline -they are the ones that determine what time you can check in your bag. Sometimes it’s four hours sometimes it’s three hours prior to your flight. But yes you will be able to get into the terminal ,you just won’t be able to go beyond the checked bag area ( I.e. security check point)where more than likely there is no place to sit or very minimal places to sit while you wait to check in your bag. Maybe baggage claim area has chairs to wait while bag check in opens for your flight? If you have a carry-on only another story, but not many cruise passengers probably have carry-on only ??
  13. Yikes, almost like you have to have two drinks in your hand and visit guest services ,hourly so that you can enjoy your drinks while getting charges taken off . Does not sound fun or What one would like to do on their vacation ,but love your writing style and your attitude
  14. We have brought flowers onboard in San Pedro,CA for embarkation. I have never bought/brought onboard in a port. Even though your flowers for a one week to 10 day cruise would be pretty much dead and gone by the end of your cruise ,I do know that you cannot take them off the ship with you.
  15. Yes, I now see second letter stating out of abundance of caution masks required.... I’ll be following along, great Live from, thanks.
  16. Wow, I’m sure your daughter is not happy that the friend she brought along to cruise with is chatting for hours on end with somebody else and not her. Well hopefully it gets rectified soon for all of you.
  17. Perhaps their medallion or tv is acting up or there is still a bunch of passengers still getting onboard??
  18. I love following along on your live and really live today. Perhaps nobody is doing this Sip and cover because it’s confusing to them. Your health advisory letter says mask recommended not required.
  19. Tonight in the music hall and I’m not sure what other nights the band Aeromyth will be playing Aerosmith music . Great band to go listen to ,if you haven’t already. We see them on land often.
  20. Yes you may wear shorts in the dining room for breakfast and lunch. Probably not for dinner,but..... probably definitely exceptions to that. Probably can get away with it on the first night of the cruise in case your luggage didn’t make it to your room or perhaps the second night if your luggage never made it to your room. Maybe the last night of the cruise you might be able to get away with it. So pretty subjective at dinner if you can wear them or cannot wear them. If you would like to wear shorts in the dining room at dinner -try it and report back to us ,so we can see what your experience is. But shorts in the dining room at dinner are not supposed to be allowed. And probably this thread needs to be closed by the moderators .I think the question has pretty much been answered for the author/op and any popcorn jokes and drink jokes to the OP is just rude .
  21. I thought the bus drops everyone off at the airport?? That’s where the group of us were dropped off after a cruise on a princess transfer. The only hiccup we had was some of our luggage( 4 of us traveling) was not on underneath our bus and we had to wait for every bus to come in ( at SEA)so we could get our luggage and go check our baggage for our flight. And you have no control over if your luggage is underneath your bus because you don’t see your luggage from the time that you put it out ( outside cabin)the night before, if I’m remembering correctly . And our bus was “sealed “ so that we did not have to get off the bus at the USA (Blaine?)border for customs. OP also asked best way to get from drop off point to downtown Hotel. I would check your hotel see if they offer airport to hotel transportation or Lyft or Uber always works out
  22. To the op.All of you go individually or together to the bar of your choice and get alcoholic drinks or non-alcoholic drinks, bring them back to your cabin & have a couple people go to the buffet( if it’s open) prior to sail away and load up some plates & put them in your fridge. You can also- each person bring on board a bottle of wine .you could serve wine if you & friends are wine drinkers in your cabin . ( by your user name you enjoy wine)you would just have to get wine glasses from your wine steward ,of course all of this needs to be done before sail away ,so might be doable. Otherwise just enjoy the sail away with no food and drinks and then all of you go as a group to dinner shortly after sail away, if that appeals to you . Enjoy.
