  1. We flew with them about nine or ten years ago, because we could get a direct flight from Cleveland to San Francisco for around $100. What I remember about them was their seats were very hard, didnโ€™t recline, and they had less space between your seat and the one in front. It seems like anywhere we would want to fly now had extremely long layovers. I know you can pay extra for those couple of reclining seats in the first couple rows, but they are comparable to a regular seat on a SW aircraft. Once you add in seat selection fees, carry on fees, bag fees, costs for a soda or a snack, etc., I am not sure you are saving much at all.
  2. Dani, thank you for asking. Last week was the last of her chemotherapy sessions before surgery. Next week will be more testing in preparation for surgery the following week. The doctors are encouraged by her progress, but they need to wait until after surgery and any necessary biopsies to determine what may be needed next. We are not ready to stop holding our breath yet.
  3. West Grove is in the eastern part of the state. Grove City is in the western part of the state, just north of Pittsburgh. oops, I see this was already answered. Nice pictures of Jade.
  4. Fancy. I donโ€™t suppose Mike uses any of these things anymore. This was my flight computer when I was learning to fly. It kind of reminded me of using a slide rule. Then there were the paper maps to chart your flight. This one encompasses Pittsburgh and Cleveland, with all the smaller airports. I learned to fly out of a small airport in Grove City, PA, and I can still make out some of the lines plotting courses to other airports in the area. I wish I would have kept up with it, but marriage and kids got in the way, and I suddenly had other things to spend money on.
  5. Wow, glad you made it, as well as your suitcase. I hate running thru airports to make connections. Safe travels for leg 2
  6. Congratulations on your first cruise as Pinnacles. Sorry to hear about your lost bag, and I hope it get found. Your problem with your computer reminds me that I need to do a new backup on ours. Been meaning to do that. And as far as your unused drink vouchers, if we meet up on a cruise again, I may be able to help you out with those. ๐Ÿ˜
  7. I think I am flying the wrong airline. My Daughter-in-law just sent me these pictures from her flight to Singapore. Definitely more room on the plane than my short flights And better food And I can say that I have never been served lobster on a flight Nice lights from there. I guess I will be enjoying the sites thru her eyes
  8. That is what we did at the beginning of the pandemic. Replaced this. With this. It made a world of difference in eliminating cold and drafts. Plus, it was the perfect time to do it when everyone was looking for work.
  9. I have been to Punxy several times, but not on Groundhog Day. Susan would hate to be standing out in the cold for that long. However, after telling her you could always get tickets to hospitality village, where you can watch it in the warm, have a nice fire, hot cocoa or coffee and restrooms, she said she wouldnโ€™t mind that. Plus, they bring Phil in for a photo op with you and give you some kind of souvenir with your admission ticket. Who knows, maybe next year.
  10. I must be one of those people. For some reason, I got a notice on my phone, to go to my muster station in the next 30 minutes and complete my safety briefing. Donโ€™t think I will make it. Never even had one booked for this date I just saw that some others got it too. ๐Ÿคฃ
  11. When is your trip to Hawaii? Saturday, April 29 is the Spam Jam Festival, and the streets in Waikiki will be closed for the festival. About the only way to get around during that festival is by walking. I never tasted so many flavors of spam. It is an interesting festival.
  12. So here is my VRBO story, and yes, they are going up in price. After keeping our holiday tradition alive, having our kids and grandkids join us in a Ft. Lauderdale house rental for Christmas and New Year, my daughter (being optimistic ) asked if we were booking one for next Christmas and New Year. Of course, by the time she asked, the one we were staying in this year was already booked for next year. Too bad, because of all the ones we have rented, we liked that one the best. After searching, we found one that met our requirements (house had to have a pool and hot tub, and be close to the beach). It was advertised to accommodate 9 of us, and had a price we could live with. Within hours of receiving the rental document, they sent an email saying that Ft. Lauderdale changed their short term rental requirements, and that they could only accommodate 8 of us. And they said โ€œBy the way, if you still want it for that week, the rate will be $6k more for the holiday week and heat for the pool.โ€ Needless to say, we moved on and booked another place for the holidays. That is the second time that has happened to us. I keep telling everyone, we could all take a cruise for about the same price that we end up spending on a rental, plus food and eating in restaurants. Unfortunately my daughter is so prone to motion sickness that we will never get her back on a cruise.
  13. Have you looked into using TheBus? They have a good bus system on Oahu. I think seniors can still ride for $1, but regular fare is only $3. We found it easy to get around using it, and you donโ€™t have to worry about trying to find parking places. You can actually circle the island on it. It just depends where you want to go. The other islands I would probably look at rentals.
  14. Yes, along with electric, water rates, and the latest is a 150% increase in trash pickup rate. Have to pay those higher prices at the pump and higher wages.
  15. I need to learn how to plate my meals better, so they look more appetizing. Last nightโ€™s supper of baby back ribs, potatoes with cheese and sour cream, cheese broccoli, and coleslaw. It is what the grandkids had asked us to fix for dinner. It might not be arranged nicely, but it didnโ€™t hurt the taste. I donโ€™t think I would ever tire of this meal.
  16. I keep forgetting that not everyone is as old as I am. It was a fantastic deal when it was $10 for a lifetime pass. I originally bought it because I could get a season launch pass, at a COE lake, for our boat for half price. That paid for it in one season. We have used at several National Parks. Even used them for entry to the forts in Old San Juan a couple times. I had almost forgot that those were part of the NPS.
  17. Emails from cruise critic have started displaying????โ€™s instead of symbols or punctuation. These were properly displayed until the last few days. See example screen shots. Viewing these on an iPhone 12pro with iOS 16.3 and an iPad Air 4 running iPadOS 16.3.
