  1. I'm with you on that. I priced out the HAL sailing and, for a cabin most comparable to what we have booked on the Discovery, it was waaaaaayyy more. I don't care about having more days on the HAL sailing, it's just not attractive to me.
  2. I'm very sorry for your loss. So sad that what should have been a happy occasion became a very unhappy one.
  3. As noted above, it does get added to your account. Your medallion gets read when you ask for coffee or tea. The coffee package doesn't "live" in your medallion; it's in your onboard account. So, if you order from your cabin the coffee package is still applied. Your account must get updated each time you get coffee or tea, with a running total. But we've never been told we've run out or have been charged for any of these items.
  4. I read that they're instituting a fine for "rowdy" behavior. I'd like to watch from a safe distance as they try to enforce that one.
  5. Do know what number you are on the waitlist? I have no help here, but somebody else might be able to make a guess based on the waitlist number.
  6. When I was trying to get my renewed passport in there, I got an error message telling me that I needed to enter a valid first name. Sounds like you're having a totally different problem. Good luck with that!
  7. Based only on my own experience, I think it might slow you down a bit. If you feel like having another go at it, remove your middle name. I recently renewed my passport, and the form on the app simply wouldn't take it with my middle name in there. You don't say what the error message you get says and that ought to tell you which part of the form isn't good to go. Also, you might check to see if there are any empty spaces before or after your info. A properly coded form ought to strip those out, but sometime that doesn't happen and sometimes that causes problems.
  8. FYI, I sent mine to be expedited. It sat there for maybe three weeks in process. Then I got an email (I'd signed up for email status alerts) that said it was approved and they were printing it. Took several days after that before I got it.
  9. Have you checked the status on them? You can do that here if you mailed the renwal: U.S. Passport Application Status (state.gov) You might still be able to get them expedited. When I renewed mine through the mail recently, there was something on the status page about if you're traveling soon.
  10. I'd only add that the birth certificate has to be a certified one, usually or maybe always with an embossed seal. A copy won't work.
  11. I've always wondered about that, but never took the plunge and got it. Guess I'll continue to pass it up.
  12. I think you mean cruisedeckplans.com.
  13. I get these from Amazon and use them exclusively at home. I have sensitive skin, and these are no problem. They come in a cardboard sleeve. They're in twos, so I tear them apart and use one of the halves for each load. AmazonSmile: Tru Earth Eco-friendly, Biodegradable, Zero Waste, Cruelty-Free Laundry Detergent Sheets/Eco-Strips for Sensitive Skin, 32 Count (Up to 64 Loads), Fresh Linen Scent : Health & Household
  14. One big difference that pops out to me for C614 on Ruby and Enchanted is that the balcony on Ruby is larger and partly covered. What cabin were you in before the upgrade? You might or might not like the location better, but if a sofa is important to you then the upgrade is probably a good one.
  15. I agree with you on leg of lamb. The lamb chops in the Crown Grill are spectacular, and we had some as the extra in Club Class that were slightly different but just as good. I ordered them in a fit of optimism and was glad that I did.
  16. I haven't had good luck with fried fish in the MDR. On the other hand, my hubby has had good luck with it when I didn't order it. I'll never order a duck entree on a Princess ship again. Mostly, I've gotten way (way!) overcooked duck with soggy skin. Once, I got bloody raw duck, also with soggy skin. It's a shame, since I dearly love duck.
  17. My two cents on this thread is that both the older ships and the new ones have a lot to offer. I've always been a big fan of the full promenade deck on the Grand Class, but on a recent cruise on the Discovery I found that they'd improved the walking/jogging track on Sky deck to the point that I didn't miss the Promenade. Our favorite cabin category is on the new ships, so that's a pro for them. My hubby likes Gelato, so any ship with that gets a point. I really like the forward-facing, obstructed ocean view cabins on Lido on some of the Grand class ships. For me, it's a toss-up.
  18. We did that too last Fall! Started the thing playing and then went off somewhere without thinking. Can't get away with anything anymore. 😂
  19. I'm a big fan of the new method. I really hated those old muster drills.
  20. Just saying here, I've had some really, really good items from that one added dish.
  21. On our cruise back in August, I was able to book at the 50% discount rate in the app. For our February 23 cruise, it wants to charge me full price. I'm waiting it out on this to see if they get it fixed. I'd rather not book full price and then possibly have a hassle getting a credit on board. Your mileage may vary. You may be able to book in the app at the discount price.
  22. We like some of the silly stuff - the paper airplane competition and the egg toss. A few cruises ago, the employee who was running the egg toss really did it up proud. They play Chicken Dance, and the guy was chicken dancing up a storm. By the end of the competition, most of the crowd was chicken dancing right along with him. I love to watch people having fun.
