  1. AUS/NZ was my first one. Do points just show up on my account and/or do you get notified? Did not see any points yet today. TIA
  2. We've had the crew store a suitcase in another location/empty cabin. Shouldn't be a problem.
  3. I agree with you. We were just wondering if restaurants in Europe were prone to not using cash as much as they used to. We don't want to overload on Euros.
  4. Yes, I just called it that so US folks could relate to the term. We lived in Europe in the early and mid 90's and lots of places used the little machines at your table (although some smaller places were cash only). When we returned to the US, we were surprised that it took many, many years before this caught on.
  5. I agree with this. AMEX does not cover Italy (don't know where you are from). The rental agents might not check if you have an International Driver's Permit, but the police will ask for it if you are stopped or involved in an accident. Being unprepared can lead to big bucks!
  6. We are getting ready for our next trip to Europe, then a Transatlantic next month. Just wondering if the Covid contactless payments by CC are pretty much here to stay (unless in a small Mom and Pop restaurant) in Europe. We usually get Euros from local bank ATMs while in Europe, but don't want to get too much. Mostly restaurant expenses, as we don't need to "shop" much. Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal on this trip. We have the "No Transaction Fee" cards and leave small leftover Euro bills for extra gratuities onboard. Any recent experiences?
  7. I wonder what is in the dog walker's backpack. I bet it gets pretty full during his walk...💩
  8. Yes, moving. She got a nice escort, and the videos...😪
  9. Not much connectivity, even on large cruise ships during a TA. We did Lisbon to Barbados on the Royal.
  10. All the boarding paperwork comes as an email now. You only have to print out a few things.
  11. We've done 4 westbound, to include the northern route Southampton-Boston-NYC-Miami. The weather was fine, and we were outside a lot--up top and on our veranda (port side)! You never know about Mother Nature--bring a sweater or jacket.
  12. You usually get them at final payment. You need to call whoever you booked through. Also, ask for the latest Covid/insurance requirements.
  13. No, just a regular veranda cabin. I was kind of thinking this might be a spam call.
  14. A couple days ago, I received a phone call/message from RCI/Celebrity 305-539-6000 asking if I needed assistance with dining or shore excursions on our October TA. I couldn't answer the phone, so "Lisa" left a message with a call back number of 800-556-8209. We did the final payment earlier and had set up our dining. I never needed to call them, we are Elite, so pretty much have things figured out. I was surprised because reading the boards, it seemed like they were shorthanded on personnel to answer inbound calls. Hope I didn't miss the Upgrade Fairy. Don't know if they do that anymore. We had one upgrade call in 2009 for our 2-week Australia/New Zealand cruise. Paid $500 total to move up from a regular veranda cabin to a Celebrity Suite on the Millie (before they added the small balconies to the Celebrity Suites). Anyhow, I am assuming the Move Up program cancels out the Upgrade Fairy, but still perplexed about the call. Anybody else have unsolicited calls recently?
  15. I believe this is true. Our final payment was due in January 2022 and it was a requirement then.
  16. Please, cabin number or deck, so others can check.
  17. Another tipping question. Instead of renting a car this time, we want to get two private transfers. One that is from FCO to Siena, then one from Siena to the Civitavecchia Port. We just want transfers, not "tour" transfers with commentary, as we have been to many areas before and we will be tired from the flights inbound. Costs run around 450 to 525 euro for each. I have seen various comments about tips: from 10 euro total (because the transfer companies pay their drivers a good wage) to a 10-15 percent (kind of Americanized). Some companies are recommending percentages now on their websites. Just checking to see what the latest is. No train or bus due to a medical issue. Thank you
  18. 110 on Star Clipper and Star Flyer. 220 on Royal Clipper.
  19. Years ago we stopped using wire brushes after finding loose wire bristles on the grill. Due to this issue, while shopping in stores/online, you will find all kinds of scrubbers without the wire bristles.
  20. Google maps. We walked and also took advantage of their great and inexpensive bus system.
  21. According to whatsinport.com, you will have 4 large cruise ships in with you on October 13th.
  22. See your Greek Islands thread.
  23. In early May 2022, we were there on the Star Flyer. We anchored off the windmills, as we did before, many years ago. There were about 6 other big cruise ships there, some at the new port and others anchored. It was a freak show in Mykonos town, way too many people. But I am comparing it to our stop there 18 years ago...
