  1. I could never recommend anyone connect through EWR if they can possibly avoid it.
  2. Nothing gives you more “guarantee” of retaining the same seats, especially when you book so far in advance.
  3. In the past, I have had two sailings chartered, one changed to a different ship and itinerary, and another change that caused me to cancel. I did not cruise WS after that for many years. I honestly don't think they are "playing games." They have always been pretty slow in the office and they are dealing with an unexpected situation. They ALWAYS want to keep your money; doubt they really want you to cancel.
  4. I do know of a certain airline, that shall remain nameless, that regularly cancels flights to a certain international destination, because they “steal” the aircraft to use on another routing when they need it. This is a huge disservice to pax, and a PITA for agents.
  5. A great app to have is Rome2Rio. It will tell you all the various ways, including time and price, to get from Point A to Point B.
  6. Stating facts has nothing to do with supporting an airline, nor is it "assigning blame." You have been given incorrect information about EU rules. They do not apply to a flight from PPT-LAX, and French Polynesia is not a member of the EU: EU air passenger rights apply: If your flight is within the EU and is operated either by an EU or a non-EU airline If your flight arrives in the EU from outside the EU and is operated by an EU airline If your flight departs from the EU to a non-EU country operated by an EU or a non-EU airline
  7. ALL airlines have routing/schedule changes and cancellations, and the farther in advance you book, the more likely you will experience this. They do not issue compensation, especially for a schedule change months away.
  8. You will only receive questioning if your destination requires that you prove you are departing by holding an onward ticket. Two one-ways satisfy this requirement.
  9. AA will certainly run first and middle names together if they are long enough, but do what makes you feel comfortable.
  10. You do not need your middle name on your ticket. Your title on your ticket (Ms./Mr./Miss, etc) is also meaningless. Names are almost always run together. It’s ok to keep all your questions on one thread.
  11. Air tags are only helpful if no one knows where your bag is, which despite many horror stories, is extremely rare. They do not help your bag get to you more quickly. I have worked in baggage for over a year and have not seen this for myself or any coworkers during that entire time. You are going to have to quickly go to your next flight, as Bruce says.
  12. No one has any idea what “the air fares, connections, layovers or flight time” will really be for any flights in Dec 2024. I would not recommend that anyone book basic economy tickets. Windstar is not liable for your $73 hotel cancelation fee. I am wondering if this cruise line is a good fit for you.
  13. In my observation, this comes down to the fact that they really have no understanding of how air travel works.
  14. I don't think many non-airline employees realize that flights must be boarded and that plane door closed within a certain number of minutes. As a gate agent, if you don't get that door closed and the flight out on time, you will have a supervisor down at your gate within five minutes, asking what happened. The same pax that complain that the flight didn't leave on time, are often the same ones who hold up boarding. Not much is really changing. Preboarding and Groups 1 - 3 remain the same. Preboarding - Customers w/ disabilities, UNMR, Active-duty military, Global Services, Families with children under age two, 1Ks Group One - Polaris and F, Platinum, Gold and *Alliance Gold Group Two - Silver, *Alliance Silver, Chase card holders, certain international card holders, and paid Premier Access Group Three - Window seats, exit row seats, NRPS and NRSA. Group 4 - middle seats Group Five - aisle Group Six - basic economy and customers who don't have a group number on their boarding pass. The largest boarding group is and will remain Group 2. And, to the person who said they would soon go back to Zone Boarding, this is Zone Boarding.
  15. I have had several cruises chartered, or ship and/or itinerary changes. I received a refund. Any excursions booked through the ship will be refunded. You usually are given a choice of other itineraries to choose from if you’d rather switch. There are going to be many cancellations or changed itineraries because of the current situation. I never book nonrefundable hotels, but doubt WS would be liable for that. And, airlines will give you a flight credit to use if you cancel your flights.
  16. I don't really understand your question. If your flight cancels on JetBlue or has a long delay, I don't believe they will pay to place you on another airline. If your flight cancels, for example, because of weather problems on the east coast, this will affect all airlines, making finding an availabile seat difficult, if not impossible for several days. You are always free to purchase tickets on whatever airline has availability. This can take hours, or minutes. Impossible to predict.
  17. Yes, are are taking a bigger risk for the reasons you mention.
  18. DL employees could buy a confirmed ticket at a discount on DL only. Buying a standby ticket on other airlines is usually limited to certain family members. In any case, in the summer, those middle seats are often filled by airline employees flying standby, who take whatever seats they can get, and they are behind every paying passenger.
  19. I asked Windstar this, and they are currently changing itineraries to avoid these ports.
  20. When you make your reservation, you fill out an SSR (Special Services Request) for a wheelchair, but you will need to request it again when you arrive in the lobby. If you use a wheelchair to get to the gate, you may check your walker at the counter and you will have to drop it off in the oversized baggage area; it can't go on the conveyor belt. Make sure they put a plastic bag around it to protect it, because those things unfortunately get thrown around. You will have to check it at the gate if you bring it there. If it's a regular walker, it will not fit inside many aircraft and storage space inside is at a premium. Make sure you get the bag tag receipt. If for some reason, you are able to have it brought up to the jetbridge upon arrival at your final destination, please don't forget to pick it up there, or you may be waiting for a very long time for it to make its way down to the baggage claim belts. As in hours. When you arrive at your final destination, your walker will come out at UA's oversized baggage area. ALWAYS tip the person who escorts you with a wheelchair.
  21. Agree with just booking a hotel room. You can get some sleep, a meal and shower. And, also agree with the difficulty of obtaining lounge access with a day pass. More and more lounges are closed to day pass users because of overcrowding. You won't be able to hang out there for 11 hours anyway.
