    EVA Air

Yes we did, though several years ago. We enjoyed it very much, good food, very pleasant service.
  2. We don’t like it either - way too sweet. But then, we can’t understand people raving about the Popcorn Sundae, for exactly the same reason.
  3. Why not take a non stop? - United (about every hour), Alaska, and Jetblue.
  4. If you connect on KLM in Europe, your luggage will be transferred in AMS and you don’t have to do anything about it. If you transfer in the US, you have to claim your luggage in ATL and recheck it. In addition, the US does not have sterile international transfer, so you would have to go through US immigration, making the 1 hr 3 min connection essentially undoable.
  5. Earlier this year Regent had a staff member at the entrance to La Veranda making sure that people washed/sanitized their hands before proceeding to the buffet. When we were on Splendor in September/October we noticed that was no longer the case, and we seemed to be almost the only ones still following the practice.
  6. There is a nice walk along the beach (wide sidewalk) that you can do directly from the port. There will be lots of people around on a Sunday.
  7. Here is the 8K filing by. CLH that provides more details on the personnel changes. https://www.nclhltd.com/investors/sec-filings/all-sec-filings/content/0001558370-22-018672/0001558370-22-018672.pdf
  8. I have the feeling people that commented above didn’t even read the whole article. Yes, I think it is a big deal when two presidents are suddenly removed with the reason being given as ‘succession planning’. FYI - Montague is 46 years old.
  9. Canada does this already on the St. Lawrence and has done it for several years (for the same reason, to protect the whales). It seems cruise lines have learned to live with it.
  10. Absolutely no tipping in Japan, it is even considered offensive.
  11. When we were on Splendor in September/October, there was a duo - Jennie and Ryan from the UK. They were excellent. They were supposed to be on until February, so I wonder what happened.
  12. It was on this year’s world cruise. Tailors are available on all ships, as noted. Just call reception, they will make arrangements for the tailor to visit your suite and take measurements. It came back within a day, as well.
  13. My husband had Tux trousers that were too tight. He had the tailor on Regent work his magic for the princely sum of $15.
  14. I have seen entertainment staff help with checking in on embarkation day, but I think they have a different type of visa. Doesn’t NCL have a US-based facility where the production casts, including Regent’s, practice the shows? So I assume they are allowed to work in the US.
  15. This is not something Regent decides, it is US immigration authorities. I have also seen similar issues when crew did not have to face immigration. In any case, no passengers can get off until all crew are processed. As for the wheelchairs, they are supposed to be provided by the port authority. Every time we leave the ship in Miami, Regent makes an announcement that they are not allowed to provide any support off the ship. I think it is because the crew’s visas don’t allow them to “work” in the US.
  16. Totally agree with using a private tour in Bali. They are inexpensive, and we saw so much more than on a Regent tour. You can also look at Tripadvisor for reviews of guides.
  17. Regent will put on a shuttle in most ports where they are allowed to (some ports have a taxi ‘mafia’ that prohibits cruise shuttles). In more distant ports (e.g. Rome, Bangkok), Regent often offers an ‘on your own’ tour where they provide the bus transportation and where you can sightsee on your own, meeting the bus at a set time to get back to the ship. That said, in Bali I have never seen a shuttle or independent exploration. I think the local taxis want the business. Definitely possible in New Zealand and Australia, though.
  18. But as stated above, Regent uses a special detergent that is not damaging to the environment. If you use your own ‘regular’ detergent, that would defeat that purpose.
  19. Champagne and caviar in La Veranda and Compass Rose.
  20. The detergent dispenser is connected to the machine by a hose. You cannot add your own.
  21. You are on Regent, right? If so, you will be in White Bay, a long ways out. Only the big ships dock by the harbor.
  22. The pre-night stay and pre- cruise gala have always been included on World Cruises and Grand Voyages regardless of cabin category. I have not heard anything to the contrary.
  23. There is no need to sign up, you just show up when you want. It is totally informal, you just wander around to the different tables and ask for the wines you are interested in. No need to be there as they open. On our last cruise on Splendor, they had it a little later, 10:30 or 10:45.
  24. We were just on the Splendor as well. The area was minimally staffed so should not have an impact on other staffing. Not many people there when we saw it. We usually picked up some canapés while having drinks in the Meridian Lounge. Also stopped sometimes on the way back from Compass Rose to get a couple of petit fours.
  25. We also just got off in Barcelona after joining in Stockholm. Fully agree that Prime 7 was a disappointment. Large groups, slow service, and uninspiring entrees. Usually, Chartreuse is our least favorite restaurant, but on Splendor we very much enjoyed every meal we had there. The other problem we had was in Compass Rose. Soups, hot appetizers and side vegetables were almost invariably tepid. The service did at times feel overwhelmed.
