  1. We just got off Silhouette, another UK based ship. I guess 5 to 10% were wearing masks, including us in crowded areas. Pax were partying like it was 2019 😁 We definitely changed our behaviour a bit, took the stairs most of the time, enjoyed the quite lounge over looking the sea sipping a drink, rather than bopping away in the crowded dance party . We still enjoyed the shows and MDR. Just took a few precautions. I also think it depends how long your cruise is. Less than 7 days you probably won't show symptoms until you get home. Longer cruises you may get the dreaded quarantine on board. When we fly to Europe next month we'll definitely wear a mask. Don't want to risk catching anything at the Airport or on the flight. In fact pre covid it was normal to see our Asian customers, at the major airport I worked at, wearing a mask out of respect for fellow passengers Enjoy your cruise whatever you decide. She's a lovely ship
  2. Hope you had fun Graham, we were booked on Anthem in September but cancelled 😢 Hope to sail her again before she disappears back to her other home for the Winter. It's so easy to sail from Southampton for us, one hour drive to port, park right outside the ship. Porters collect bags from the boot of the car, wonderful, just wish there were more choices of destinations
  3. Hello everyone, we've been away on a cruise this last week with very limited Internet so I've missed out on what's been happening for the last 40 odd pages I hope everyone is well. Our cruise was on Silhouette Norwegian Fjords . A last minute booking and scared myself silly reading some of the horror stories on the Celebrity page, but we figured that we can't go too wrong on a UK cruise, just for a week, no flying and driving to the port. The cruise was pretty full and probably only 5% wore masks. In fact we were told on entering the terminal at Southampton 'you don't need to wear your masks' !! It did feel a little different as we probably didn't mix as much as a pre covid cruise, but we did go to the shows but sat in a quite area in the upper floor of the theater. The ports were lovely, though weather was cool. We did lots of walking and really enjoyed the scenery. No masks necessary or requested in Norway in the shops or on the one tour bus we went on. All in all a lovely cruise, but I think I prefer Royal Caribbean. Now to look forward to The Beyond next month Sail away in Southampton Appletini and bubbles in the Sky Lounge Sail into Bergan Climbed 420 steps to the top of a hill overlooking Alesund Harbour Some pics of Olden Stavanger port In our favourite bar enjoying a Cosmopolitan
  4. My heart goes out to you and your husband. This is like a never ending nightmare. I truly hope there is soon light at the end of the tunnel for you both and you get home ASAP. I hope you document this clearly in chronological order and let Celebrity and the RCG know what you have gone through
  5. Personally I would prefer proper plates, glasses and cutlery and rise them myself if the alternative is using plastic knives and forks and paper plates. My sons MIL was in quarantine in a Heathrow hotel last summer and it worked really well. Food arrived in take away containers and she had a cleaning kit in the room, cloths, washing up liquid etc to clean her crockery and cutlery. No big deal !! In no way is being in a quarantine room on a ship a normal cruising experience, so why not 🤷‍♀️
  6. Sorry to hear about you contracting Covid Renee. I've been MIA, also on a cruise, though in Europe and did not have Internet, so late to the thread. On the topic of paper products and plastic cutlery, I don't know why they haven't developed a proper kit for their quarantine guests. Proper plates, glasses, knives and forks with a cleaning kit for you to clean yourself . Similar to what quarantine hotels at airports had last year. At least you would get to eat off proper equipment. Also definitely a kettle and big supply of coffee, tea etc so you can make a hot drink whenever. A microwave would also be ideal to warm up food, but guess that may be a fire risk? They need to start thinking this through
  7. Potentially you could book a night in CPH before returning? Or if available a late flight
  8. So sorry this happened to you. There needs to be a better plan for those in quarantine . I hope you feed back to head office in MIA your direct experiences
  9. You need to test one day before. Which in our case is a Sunday, not easy to do in Rome on Sunday !
  10. At least normally with room service you get proper cutlery and plates and it's not a 24/7 experience with no other access to other foods/drinks On the celebrity board there is one thread from a poster on a transatlantic who's husband has been in quarantine since 30Apr, still showing positive yesterday and they will not test again until the 11th. Believe they are suite pax and she says he can only get room service menu
  11. I think there needs to be more care for pax stuck in a room 24/7 . I've heard some pax are only allowed room service menu. There should be a dedicated team looking after these folk, and a proper thought through process about their 'sentence'. For instance: There should be a kettle with tea/coffee making provisions in each quarantine cabin Proper plates, glasses and cutlery with a pack to clean them yourself, available in your room so you don't have to eat off paper plates and with plastic cutlery. I will definitely be thinking about what to take on board in case this happens to me and have some back up plans. On a long cruise you could be incarcerated for 5 days or more
  12. How long was your cruise ? Seems to me short, less than 7 days, cruises are the way to go. So many stories of people testing positive once home
  13. So sorry to hear he can only eat from the room service menu. On top of everything else it's awful to have the same limited food choice day after day. I'm sure i read other ships allowed their quarantined pax food from the dinning rooms. They seem to be falling down on their duty of care I hope he is OK and is able to rejoin you soon.
  14. Enjoy your 24 hours in Barcelona and safe travels home. I've enjoyed reading your blog 😊
  15. So I know this is Royal Caribbean site but Celebrity is really annoying me. Tried numerous times to call them and no answer. Yesterday was on the phone for 1 and half hours before I gave up. My agent tried for over 3 hours and no answer. This is the Captain's Club uk number but think it just feeds into the world wide call centre They dont answer emails either. So frustrating. What do you do when you have a problem which isn't fixable on the website ? Sorry about the rant but they market themselves as a luxury cruise line and you can't even speak to them, let alone sort out the problem
  16. Love Bar Harbor and Halifax. We've been on two cruises there, once from Boston and once from New York. Some of Gary's old school friends live near Halifax and it was great meeting up with them again. Very easy to hire a car in Halifax port
  17. @groryjm any chance you can ask guest services or your concierge what the expected total on board is for the next sailing leaving the 7th? It's now showing sold out on line but that may be because its two days before departure. You're coming back to glorious weather, predicted to reach 25c by next week in the South
  18. Lots of talk about mainland Europe where some countries are heavily dependant on Russian oil and gas stopping it by end of year. They have to get it from somewhere so prices for all increase I guess
  19. On Celebrity it's mandatory to have a test at the pier (at a cost) if you have not had the booster or two initial jabs within 270 days. You also have to have multiple tests (at a cost) on board There is no Celebrity provision for testing at Italian home ports if you are 'up to date', I.e. have been boostered and/or had the initial two jabs within 270 days. No further tests required for the cruise, but it means you have to source your own pre departure test one day before.
  20. You can pre register for Rome airport on arrival. Tests are €20 https://www.adr.it/web/aeroporti-di-roma-en/covid-19 https://www.adr.it/form-preaccettazione
