  1. Think it's all of Carnival family of shipping lines including Cunard and P@O. Was thinking of booking SIN to DXB on Serenade but waiting to see what's happening
  2. Yesterday our day out was to Cliveden. The house has burnt down twice and has been rebuilt. It has had some famous owners including the Waldorf-Astor family. Three generations of the family ashes are in the Chapel in the grounds which are extensive, running down to the Thames. One of the cottages in the grounds was the scene of the famous '60s profumo scandal Which was made into a mini series " the trial of Christine Keeler' a few years ago Great for walking molly through the extensive grounds Here's a view from a distance the grounds just in front of the house (which is a leased as a luxury hotel) the walk contines down to the Thames
  3. Enjoying your holiday report, please keep it coming 🙂 Just read your won't have Internet, hope to hear your views when you get home. Have a wonderful cruise
  4. Except when you hear your dog (or cat) being sick at 2am then it's a problem that has to be sorted straight away. Luckily in the very rare times it happens (two nights ago) Gary deals with it 😬
  5. Enjoy OB, at least if you're in the sea (my fav place in the world), you're already wet, so rain won't really matter Have a great holiday
  6. Playing catch up on Dani's thread. Hope everyone going on cruises or holidays have/had fab times. Especially the Icon cruisers and @cruiselvr04 travelling all the way to Australia, still on my bucket list. @Sea Doghope the pain is getting better andyou're getting better sleeps. @Jimbo glad to see you posting again, you've been missed, love your posts @dani negreanuthink about you and Aaron and your family often. Hope things are a bit quieter and you can get out and about without too much worry
  7. Exactly, I was looking at the SIN to DXB mini sector (Serenade) but don't want to book until I know if the ship will go to Dubai
  8. Looks like Carnival are rerouting May suez trips https://www.travelweekly.com/Cruise-Travel/Carnival-Corp-reroute-12-ships-avoid-Red-Sea
  9. It's a lovely (small) lounge off the Viking Crown lounge. So great views Often they open it out into the VC lounge or you can grab a coffee or drink and take it into VC if no seats available in diamond lounge (now called Crown Lounge).
  10. As @Hoopster95 said there is an interesting reroute thread going on right now on the Silverseas pages of CC. The passengers were disembarked in Athens, and Dubai to Mumbai sector seems to of been cancelled. The cruise picks up again in Mumbai a couple of days late
  11. Congratulations to you and your lovely family. How exciting !! Well deserved, I've always liked your trip reports. 👍
  12. Great pictures, thank you. Sounds a fun port with the carnival being the icing on the cake
  13. Yes please carry on, loving your trip reports. Australia is on our bucket list. Just dreading the long flight. I love hearing cruise reports ftom different parts of the world 🌎 🙃
  14. Wonderful Dani, so great you got a few days away from the stress and importantly seeing your lovely family again. Can you stay for extended stays in AMS ? Would be great to be there during their school holidays . When we had our 2yr old grandson yesterday. He, out of the blue, said he was doing 'downward dog' (yoga pose). Not sure where he picked this up from .
  15. Not everyone does fb Ken. Appreciate anything you can show us.
  16. Enjoying your trip reports LB. Hope you continue for the Spectrum cruise, we're on her a couple of weeks after you and will be interested to hear your opinion on her and your ports of call.
  17. They have a good free coffee machine which is open from very early in the morning. There's continental style buffet breakfast, pastries, breads, ham, cheese, cerals etc. Happy Hour, between 4-8, there's a hot and cold hor d'oeuvres buffet, but if there's a lot of Diamond and up members on board they sometimes exclude Diamond during these hours. In the old ships where its in the Viking Crown lounge it's a nice quite place (except during HH) out of the sun to sit and watch the sea go by. There's a concierge there to help with any problems or queries like a mini guest services. Most people use their Diamond and up free drink vouchers so no $$ spent . The ships officers often come by to chat during HH which can be interesting. Finally as in any lounge you can meet interesting people
  18. I think a lot of new cruisers see the social media and adverts about the new(ish) ships and assume the RC product is the same for all ships. Pretty certain they don't feature the old ships in their adverts or advertising material. Having said this we enjoyed our 12 night on Serenade last Sept. Though did notice the couch in the room was threadbare. Food was OK. The positives with the smaller ships are usually more interesting ports
  19. It's midnight in the time zone your cruise is from. So my next cruise is from Singapore but I live in Europe. Therefore check in was open for me at 4pm my time on the previous day (midnight in Singapore). When I cruise from Miami check in opens about 5am for me as our time zone is 5 hours ahead of Miami. 20. Yesterday we visited Winchester Cathedral. Winchester traces its roots back to 150BC and was once the capital of England. Its Cathedral was started in the 11 century. When Jane Austen was ill she travelled there with her sister to get medical help and died in a house very close to the Cathedral. It was normal then to be buried inside the nearest church and this is why she's buried there. She wasn't that well known or famous when she died at age 41, though her novels were beginning to get noticed. During her lifetime her books didn't have her name on them, just 'written by a lady'. She was 'outed' by one of her brothers after her death. The cathedral Her grave inside the Cathedral. It doesn't mention her books at all. But there has since been a window dedicated to her and people leave flowers
  21. We had a 'Jane Austen' couple of days . On Thursday we visited her home where she lived with her mother and sister and wrote her novels. Her home, a normal village house gifted to the ladies by her wealthy brother the small table where she wrote her novels The home of her brother about half a mile away on the edge of the village It was fascinating learning about her life and large family. A lot of her life was in her books. I.e. one of her brothers was taken on by rich relatives and left three estates (Mansfield Park). They lived in a house gifted by a rich relative who lived nearby (Sense and Sensibility and Persuasion). She was a daughter of a clergyman, as was the main character in Northangar Abbey. They lived in Bath for several years and Bath is important in Persuasion. Two of her brothers were Admirals in the Navy and she used them as role models for the navy officers in Persuasion
  22. In Southern England we've had a cold spell with the temperature down to 21f overnight ( -6c), but warming up with a high of 54f (12c) expected tomorrow
  23. It's already paid for in our cruise fare. Public areas should be ......public
