  1. We are going on the Queen Elizabeth February, we have visited some of the ports before, however, we have a friend travelling with us who has not been to New Zealand, just after thoughts or any information that may assist us please:- Dunedin 9am - 6pm We were thinking of doing our own thing in Dunedin, as have been the the station, brewery, steepest street, however, is Larnach Castle worth going to please? Christchurch (tours from Lyttelton) 8am - 6pm Thinking of taking shuttle to Christchurch and going up in the Cable Car and anyone been to the Antarctic Centre there? Wellington 8am-6pm Plan to take cable car to Bontanical Gardens, Terapa Museum Auckland 7am-8pm Have at this stage booked a private half day tour leaving 10am which finishes at 2pm then thinking of catching ferry across to Devonport. I was tempted to go the the Auckland Museum to see the Amauri cultural performance, however, it clashes with the tour we have currently booked. Bay of Islands 8am-6pm Had booked for 2 of us before friend was coming and unable to fit her in on a bike tour 11am that goes for 30 minutes, then do our own thing.
  2. Maybe ask this question under Australia and New Zealand section, you may get a better response
  3. Maybe same issue as the Coral with the hull, strange as never heard of NZ refusing ships in, unless weather related.
  4. Can anyone confirm that 2 other ships have been refused entry to the Sounds as well, Queen Elizabeth and I believe a P&O ship??
  5. We are going the 4 night one to Port Lincoln and Kangaroo Island, really lovely to be able to cruise out of your home town.
  6. We are going on her again in March next year.
  7. We just came back from a cruise on the Pacific Explorer, and whilst she looks a bit worse for wear outside, we found the entertainment areas, blue room, explorer lounge, black circus, pool areas and adult area lovely. We would not hesitate to go on her again and going on her next March. She has a lovely internal ambience and the crew are wonderful.
  8. Thank you Geoff we have booked with them in the past not for princess but for Royal Caribbean. So tempted as the savings are so good.
  9. We did book a cruise through an overseas TA quite a few years ago and saved a lot of money, we are considering it again, I know we can't mention overseas TA name, however, in comparison to Australia there is a big saving of nearly $1500 per person, has anyone recently booked through a TA in USA?
  10. I will have to keep my eye out, we have a number of cruises booked at the moment and was waiting until we had caught up on them, however, if there is a bargain around Xmas with special deals always up to booking another ha! ha!
  11. Not sure how I missed that one, we are elite too, and I always check the promos. Well done on getting such a great deal.
  12. Wow how did you manage to get a $30 a day deal thats fantastic?
  13. We also stayed at the Kingsford Smith Motel, lovely people who run the motel and the room was lovely, it was very easy to catch a taxi from airport to motel I think it cost us $35.
  14. We were on Pacific Encounter and were late getting in on Saturday due to weather, we encountered 4-6 metre swells and strong winds, Captain said no way could we make it on time due to weather conditions.
  15. I think P&O have the right idea by serving people in the Pantry, vs Princess where everyone helps themselves.
  16. You have come a long way I would be tempted to do the Whitehaven Beach as it is really lovely.
  17. We are staying at the Kingsford Smith Motel, they also take you to the cruise ship, very reasonable. We are going November, have not been there yet, although has great reviews.
  18. I think USA TA's have a lot more flexibility than here in Australia, if you book through a TA here in Australia, and fares go down you get charged to make changes, and very few extras, booking through Princess directly any reductions or specials I have contacted princess and received them.
  19. Looks like lots of activity looking forward to going on the Queen Elizabeth.
  20. Its o.k. I have just done some googling and open dining is from 6.30pm to 9pm very pleased.
  21. So if I am reading right open table setting is only from 7.45pm?? We maybe better off with our first sitting then?
  22. I put in Cunard open dining, nothing came up, going from my booking this is new to Cunard as they normally have 1st and 2nd sitting, hence my question.
  23. We have been on the Majestic Princess, she is a beautiful ship, she has indoor and outdoor pools, international cafe for coffee and cakes, sandwiches, soup 24 hours a day, true anytime dining. I guess Princess feels more like a hotel and P&O more like a pub. We have not been on Carnival but heard some good reviews.
  24. Yes I have unfortunately I don't think they work on the weekends, only during the week, but very helpful.
