  1. Actually, it may not have fallen on deaf hears. There was a post on CC recently, saying that the Koningsdam will be re-establishing a library after its drydock. And I think that the Rotterdam does have a library. If I could ever pry DH off HAL, I would also be one to change cruise lines to one that does have a decent library, i.e. Cunard.
  2. We will be driving in on a Saturday afternoon in November. How likely is it that the garages will be full? Are there several garages? Would an online port map show the location of the garages? Thank you for your recommendations. I will also look into the Fairfield Inn.
  3. I would vote for a NS and an across-the-hall inside. A verandah cabin, which, BTW, is larger than Princess's balcony cabins, does not give enough room for family time. The NS is much larger and has a much larger balcony. OTOH, how much family time in a cabin does a family usually enjoy? Family time the teens get at home. On board ship, I suspect that togetherness may be more limited.
  4. What is included in the happy hour - reduced price drinks?
  5. Thanks for clarifying. I kept wondering what I had overlooked.
  6. By any chance, is this the lot at the port itself? Re Park 'n Go, what kind of security is provided? We are also looking at driving to FLL in November for a one-week cruise. I was thinking of renting a car, but that gets expensive for two one-way trips.
  7. What do you mean by "at the port?" Is that Park 'n Go? Can you make reservations? Are the cars protected?
  8. I thought that this forum was was the Florida ports/departure section. Are you referring to another section? I am interested in FLL parking garages for 7 days, if anyone has any suggestions.
  9. Did you give the form to someone or was it just left in your cabin?
  10. Not always! As soon as we boarded the 2018 Grand Asia in Seattle, we asked the front desk for an offer on a NS from a verandah. They told us to wait until the ship had finished boarding in LA, which was the cruise's official "embarkation " point, 7 days later in LA. At that time we were offered (and accepted) an offer for about half the published price. Since we had already paid for a verandah, the actual discount for the NS was about 25 - 30% deduction. We thought that it was well worth it for a 3-month cruise. I think it just depends on the length of the cruise, the number of unsold cabins, and the class of the unsold cabins. We are hoping for the same luck on the '24 WC - lol!
  11. This doesn't sound like Viking is foregoing all pre-cruise testing. It probably will depend on the ports scheduled ports, so I am not sure how optimistically this announcement can be read.
  12. I and others on this thread have interpreted that the 100% FCC to be the free cruise and "the opportunity to sail at a later date" to be a rescheduling of the present cruise. And, yes, I did read the entire thread. Perhaps you could be a little less judgmental.
  13. Because you get a free cruise plus full FCC for the cancelled cruise. What is there to hate?
  14. Ah. . . I was looking at the bottle prices on the RogerJettphotography.com, provided above. No glass prices. Haven't gotten used to using the Navigator yet. Thanks.
  15. Those are my fears, as well. The idea of being booted off the ship somewhere, halfway around the world, simply does not appeal to me. I am not expecting much to change, however, and I hate to think that my cruising days may be over. If they are, so be it; but I hate the thought. I have such fond remembrances of the unique closeness of our ship's community on the long cruises, and I cannot picture the same feeling in this uncertain environment. Will masks be made mandatory at various times during the cruise? Will DH and I be separated and quarantined and for how long? Will we be required to disembark? I will be very interested to hear the reports from the 2023 WC'ers. Until then, our booking for the 2024 cruise will remain intact and our fingers crossed.
  16. I am not seeing the list of drinks included in the standard package. Am I missing it? I only see the package prices.
  17. That sounds very likely. However, it is discouraging because this virus appears to be in for a long haul; and if masks are going to be required inside, we will not sail. Disappointment, disappointment. It's a long way off, but our 2024 WC booking is becoming increasingly elusive. Everything has gone down hill since we booked last September.
