Although NCL Sun spent a lot of time docked at the new pier when in Covid hiatus, and the occasional Viking ship did dock there, many others tendered their guests ashore still. I track ships through the canal for another website, and would see them anchored and tendering. EM

There is not a large variety of excursions available for the Panama Canal transits. You are looking at a full transit. You don’t say when you are cruising, I assume you are on Encore or Bliss? I also assume that NCL hopes the terminal building will be finished when you arrive, otherwise you will tender to Fuerte Amador. Pier is done, but terminal was not. I suspect more excursions will be added later. But that is not something we are likely to know until after one of these cruises has sailed and someone comes back to report. EM

She was on a partial transit, which means they transited through a set of locks into Gatun Lake, where they tendered ashore to the Gatun Yacht Club, and were picked up by the buses to their excursions. The ship then locked back down out of the canal and only docked in Colon/Cristobal to retrieve the excursion passengers. EM

Get a copy of Rick Steve’s’ Mediterranean Cruise Ports. It is written for cruisers and he tells you what the ports are like, what there is to do and how to do it in the time you have. EM

The above is not true..all Princess ships can enter Glacier Bay. Even larger go there, such as NCL Encore. The largest of Princess cannot do the true inside passage from Vancouver, so sail from Seattle. Suggest a cruise from Vancouver, on a ship with wrap around promenade deck. Pay attention to port times, and flight costs. Also hours of daylight. It may be cooler in May, but more day.Ishtar than in Sept, Oct. Lots of info on the Ports of Call board for Alaska. EM

Have you considered asking this on the Alaska ports of call board?

They could look online at the types of scooters for rent, then go to a medical supply store that rents/sells scooters and see if they can try one out, see how it works. Also, if she is chunky and needs a bark attic scooter I don’t think it will fit through the door of a regular cabin. EM

We do in Liberty County. And if you want to do the Behind the Fun tour you also need closed toe shoes. Sneakers are fine. EM

I believe it is actually easier to be able to pick it up in the terminal. Instant seating while waiting in line, not having to wait to board until a wheelchair and pusher are available. Same with debarkation. Are you sure the cabin doorway will be wide enough for the scooter to enter? And that the cabin will have a tub/shower, and those tubs usually have pretty high sides. EM

NCL Sun hit a growler. discovery Princess was in Skagway when the landslide occurred. Until they fix the railroad pier there is only space for one ship and it is at the far end with access blocked, so ships have to tender. EM

I’m sort of a minimalist kind of gal, so I’ve never needed and over the door thingy. Nor did my sister. My aim is to pack everything. I would need for two days in a backpack. This would be a change of clothes, all the electronics and chargers, all meds, docs, cards, etc. the rest of my stuff is in a roll aboard, so I’m all set in case my rollaboard goes astray. To pare it down further, it would be boarding docs, meds and phone. EM

Hellesylt is a pause to tender off guests doing an overland excursion to Geiranger. The ship retraces its steps and goes to Geiranger where it may tender, or dock at the floating dock if available. EM

If you are on Fantasia class, and Preziosa is one, do not book a cabin classes as junior. It will be tiny. And they come in inside, OV, and balcony. They would be fine for me, traveling solo, but two would be cramped. EM

Well, I HAVE been on MSC, and not in Yacht Club. I guess I am steerage class. Our first MSC cruise was the three day US inaugural of Divina. We were in an inside gty, which turned out to be what they now call a junior inside. It was okay. We thought the food shaky, but didn’t go hungry. Two years later we were on Divina again, in a lowest class balcony, and it was quite roomy. One of the group on that class of ship that has a tub/shower. In early 2019 we sailed Seaside in a balcony and were quite pleased. We also sailed on one of their smallest, Armonia and it was a much different experience, much more laid back. Demographic is at least half non-North American. They tend to dress more sharply than we are accustomed to seeing, especially the women. Entertainment was all live, no DJ music. And most everything is music related, as comedy would be lost on most other nationalities. EM

I have read on here that there are a few states that issued a card form of the birth certificate and it was used successfully to cruise. Mr. Google showed me that at one time Florida and Iowa did this, but I’m not sure they still do. I do know that to many years I used a paper that was titled Notification of Birth Registration. It got me into the army twice, and my first passport. When it was time to retire and file for social security, I decided to get a birth certificate. What came was a short form, that didn’t even have my parents name on it. EM

Absolutely. However, they may not be able or want to provide you with/sell enough for your journey. But surely you will be able to find a pharmacy or medical supply store ashore. Maybe not in the tourist area. EM

Those cabins appear to be below the Persian Gardens, which I wouldn’t think would be very loud. EM

I’ve never seen gifts in a cabin crawl. Some who have offered their cabins for the crawl have some snacks out, but not mandatory. I thought the purpose of the crawl was to see as many different types of cabins as possible. EM
