  1. Also keep checking back on MVJ after you book your excursions on Friday. Sometimes they open up. People cancel before and during the cruise for various reasons. Or they do add more buses and guides sometimes. Which cruise are you doing and what ship? Also on our sailing, June12-22 Scenic Scandinavia, others excursions were added in a couple of ports a coupe of weeks ago. Our cruise is sold out . Looking at my MJV some of the very small excursion are all sold out but others still available. BTW, welcome to Cruise Critic . Be sure to join your roll call for your particular itinerary on your Viking ship. Ask others you will be saying with about maybe doing a private excursion amongst yourselves.
  2. Where is the Saturn currently? Oh Clay, I am sorry for you and all those who are/will be cruising on the Viking Saturn. How do they fix this quickly?
  3. Even digital nomads deserve a real vacation from work. Enjoy you cruise as it sails on an ocean and be sure to watch the sunsets and sunrise !
  4. Agian thanks for taking time during your cruise to answer my questions. I did email customer service at he email you provided yesterday. I got a message that there is a temporary delay for 46 hrs, and gmail will try again ?? So I will wait and see. Our roll call will still have our informal M&G anyway . Our cruise has no sea days unless the ship misses a port due to weather. reasons. I did look up the CV on the resident historian you provided. Well qualified to talk about military histories but would have hoped we had a historian who specializes in the Baltic , Scandinavia or the Hanseatic League. Well at least Captain Larsen either Danish or Norwegian. 😁 StCroix Guy , hope you had a great cruise and safe travels home. Cheer, Patti
  5. I am on Viking Ocean cruise on Jun12. I got my red luggage tags and the paper ones with my stateroom # a couple of weeks ago. You should be getting them any time now.
  6. Thank you all , you are the best ! I will contact customer relations per St Croix guy inquiry for me. Our roll call is doing an informal gathering for sail away by the Infinity pool as we leave Stockholm . It is supposed to be spectacular ! Will let you know what happens with Viking . I will tell you I am so pumped for this cruise and we have great folks on our roll call!
  7. I want to email Guest relations or CD on the Jupiter. Big favor, could you provide me their email. I want to email them and ask if they will sponsor a meet and mingle for our roll call. June 12-22 Scenic Scandinavia. Someone on the forum did give me an email address but sadly I misplaced it. I hope you are having a wonderful time on your cruise.
  8. Thank you for your epic trip report. I enjoyed it so much over the last weeks. I too will have to wait patiently for your next cruise. You pictures are always wonderful to see, helps me feel like I am there in person. I finally get to cruise in 18 days and will do a trip report on the Viking Forum. You inspire me. Safe travels home ,it is a long flight with your delays. Hope you can get some sleep along the way. Celebrity forum has the best trip reports by far😍
  9. On my first Celebrity cruise back in 2008, we took the ship sponsored excursion to Avignon. The bus trip from port through the country side was beautiful. It was Sept. Young man ,a graduate student in Art history, was our tour guide. We toured the Pope's palace , built by two different Popes, had a catered lunch with free flowing wine in the square beneath he place, a wine tasting back in the palace, and still had free time to wander around for 1 hr. I bough a beautiful water color painting of the town by local artist at a booth. She did not speak English, I do not speak French but it was a pleasant exchange in sign language and I made my purchase. Your excursion was much shorter, which is too bad. The town is lovely and the carousal in the little park was picture perfect. And the bridge outside of town is the source of a French children's song. I am enjoying your trip report and pictures.
  10. Got my final documents in email yesterday. Went into MYJ, no problem. ONLY 20 DAYS and counting! I did go through some of the links on my MJV. See they have category of Resident Musicians. I don't think I saw that before. Also on Chef table they had link saying Menu coming. for Manfredi's you can see a sample menu. Also down in the weeds of ship information, I see that all Viking Ocean ships are registered in Bermuda , and River boats are registered in Switzerland. Thats all for now .... my countdown has begun....
  11. You are lucky guy! I have to wait till June 12 till I am back in a DV cabin on the Jupiter! BTW, who is the resident historian and other speakers ? How are the lectures? How is the weather?
  12. What a great tour in Valencia! I love the city and the architecture both old and modern. Your tapa dinner included is amazing. I so miss good tapas. Compared to your one broccoli floweret with your lobster is a perfect contrast. I am living your review and your cruise.
  13. It is always Pacific time,USA. Now it would be Pacific Daylight savings time.
  14. Looking forward to your trip report. Love your writing style . I look forward to your adventures with your mother on this B2B cruise.
  15. Lew, Are you still going on Viking Sky TA from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale in November 2023? I saw you started a roll call for this cruise. I am seriously looking at joining my friends on this cruise. I was a former Celebrity cruiser , liked the Century and M class ships the best. Their extra charges for specialty restaurants and now even room service, and larger ships, though beautiful, is not what I am looking for in a cruise line these days. Viking is a perfect fit for me. I love most of all the service, the modern new ships, the Scandinavian vibe, and the enrichment lectures by resident historians about history of the areas you are visiting. Love meeting passengers who are well travelled and engaging. Food has always been good to outstanding. I do like the Chef table and their rotating menus with paired wine.
  16. Love your pictures. Hope you are all settled in on board ready for a great adventure !
  17. I am assuming that the ship is at capacity, is that right? Does the restaurant have shared tables again? I know they did pre-covid. It was an option for us some nights when we wanted to dine at a certain time, we asked for a shard table. Met some nice fellow cruisers that way too.
  18. Yes, it had a proper table with 4 chairs and two loungers. In evening you could hear the guitarist from the sunset bar while we watched the wake. We had some of our new friends up for a cocktail party. Everyone brought some wine and ordered room service cheese/cracker plates. The was in the" olden days" of Celebrity when they did not charge for any room service. Your ports of call are some of my favorite in all of Europe. I love everything about Spain and Portugal.
  19. I did a 15 day cruise on Celebrity Constellation around the Iberian Peninsula a number of years ago. It was amazing.Did a lot of private tours organized by folks on my roll call. We had an aft veranda that was huge. Look forward to your trip report.
  20. Andy , I am so sorry that Viking office in LA was what drives you away from Viking in the future. I will miss your frequent posts terribly. You are one of the reasons I read the Viking forum even when I have no cruise on the horizon. thank you so much for your kindness, expertise and humor over the years . Your suggestion about Canadians having their own Viking office makes total sense. I k ow that people who live in a Europe also have. Hard time booking and gettin good service from Viking too . Hope the powers that be are reading this forum too
  21. Looking forward to your trip report. Good to know the ship does not feel crowded even when it is sold out. My cruise in early June is also a sold out cruise, so hoping it feels the same.
  22. I carry the room card . But after first day or two every bar tender / waiter either knows my room number or just ask for my room number. All staff have devices that I am sure they can also bring up my picture too along with my room number . Need it to get on and off ship and open your door. Btw bring a fake card to keep in device inside your stateroom so the lights stay on . I do not use my room card for that feature .
  23. Glad I found your review of Viking Ocean. 🚢Weird that it was on Crystal forum . But stop by Viking forum anytime. Always appreciate your air advice there and on Cruise Air . Viking ships are exactly what I was looking for in every way . No need to change a great Scandinavian design Cheers !
  24. Looks like the weather on the Baltic Sea is not being very cooperative on this sailing. Thank you for posting the missed ports and the extra days in other ports. I will go into upcoming cruise "Scenic Scandinavia" June 12-22 with an open mind. I pray we get three stops in Denmark ending in Copenhagen. 🙏 What didi you do in Copenhagen? If you have time could you post who the Cruise Director and General Manger is , if you get a chance? I will email them about a meet and mingle in a couple of weeks. Enjoy your cruise till the end!
