  1. No change. Has been this way since shortly after excursion pre-booking with required payment began years ago. Excursions are currently the only pre-bookings where you can pre-pay using OBC.
  2. Basically get a passport. I would never travel internationally without a passport and I would not rely on anything said on these boards without checking details myself on official sites. Below is a quote from the DHS website regarding WHTI rules. I would go to that site and review the rules. There are certain rules for youth. Certainly if you have to disembark and fly home you will require a passport. Princess also has special rules in their Passage Contract regarding youth traveling with only one adult. You also need to check the requirements for each country you will be visiting. "U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that begin and end at the same U.S. port) are able to enter the United States with a birth certificate and government-issued photo ID. Please be aware that you may still be required to present a passport to enter the countries your cruise ship is visiting. Check with your cruise line to ensure you have the appropriate documents."
  3. We flew Icelandic Air a number of years ago, pre-covid in route to Copenhagen. The layover was just a few hours in Iceland in the middle of the night. We changed planes and were processed through immigration in Iceland. When we reached Copenhagen there were no formalities. We booked direct with Icelandic Air, not via EZ Air. There was an option to stay a few days in Iceland before flying on to Europe. Nice way to experience a little of Iceland. We did not take advantage and were sorry afterwards.
  4. When the b2b is multiple booking numbers the related OBC credits are posted at the start of each booking number segment.
  5. Basically figure 30 minutes after the ship docks. There are some ports that may require immigration clearance but that should not delay very much. Water shuttles take time, could be an hour or more, if you plan to go ashore on your own. Typical process is that you show up at the shuttle ticket area, normally a DR, and get your ticket. There can be a large crowd. Your entire group must show up together if you wish to go ashore on the same shuttle. Example: Wife can not get a shuttle tick for herself and her husband. Both must be there. If you are elite loyalty status or in a full suite then you receive priority shuttle service, basically the next one leaving after you show up at the ticket area. Those on ship's tours receive priority shuttle service. You go to the designated location on the tour ticket and not the general shuttle ticket area.
  6. Alaska. Shorter cruise much more of a port intensive tour cruise. Gets very tiring when you are there, very tiring getting there and quite a bit more anxiety in the travel with the long plane travel. You will probably have a lot more fun on the Canada 10 day trip. Much more relaxing and you will be with a group. If you select Canada, Sept 19th I presume New York to Quebec City. You will require a passport Pack layered clothing The train brings you to Manhattan. The ship sails from the Red Hook Cruise Terminal in Brooklyn. Suggest you go a day early and book a Manhattan hotel room for at least one evening. You will then have to take a taxi/Uber to the pier on boarding day. I enjoy the older ships better than the Royal Class ships. Older ships have more lounges for activities. Flying home from Quebec City can be difficult. Don't know if there are any direct flights to DC. You may have to transfer in Montreal or Toronto. Another option is to take the 3 hour train from Quebec City to Montreal, stay overnight and then fly home. Look carefully into the flights if you select the Canada itinerary.
  7. It is automatic. The OBC is a credit posted to your on board account and will show up when your board. Daily gratuities are a debit and automatically net against any credit or debit balance. You don't specifically indicate that you want to use the OBC.
  8. Future cruise deposits are the way to go. The $100 covers the deposit for a future cruise that you may book. They are good for two years and are refundable if not used. This gives you time to think things out. "What you may also be able to do is book the cruise with cash/credit then apply the FCC retroactively after your cruise. (Not entirely sure about this, but might be worth investigating)" Not sure what this means. You can not apply a Future Cruise Deposit retroactively. Believe you can use the $100 to apply against final payment, but there is no benefit and no OBC.
  9. No. Theater shows are all walk in. Exception if you are in a Sky Suite there is reserved seating for you. Not certain of the actual start date, but those that purchase the premier fare package will receive reserved seating for production shows, not other shows. Expect this will be a section of the theater seats and not a specific seat.
  10. " it's located near the main theatre entrance and I doubt if people even realized that there was smoking going on in there. " I have been on the Royal. A very unpleasant stale smell of cigar smoke permeates the port side theater entrance/exit area.
  11. It is a promo for the 5 day voyage. Not all voyages have the same promos.
  12. Contact your credit card company and inquire. If the charge is not yours place a stop on it. Are you sure it is Princess Cruise Lines or some other Princess? Lots of on line sites called Princess.
  13. The 3rd berth is the convertible sofa. The 4th is a pull down berth over the sofa. The cabin steward will store both during the day. This is normal. Of course, this assumes that those using these berths are not in the room and leave their belongings in closets and drawers not stored on the bedding.
  14. Try booking as two 7 day cruises. There is really little difference in cost. You might have to change cabins. Onboard accounts carry over and you are billed on your final disembarkation day.
  15. Confused. Ships at sea connect via satellite. I can see the use when you are close to land or in port. But, how will you connect your phone or device to the network if you don't use the ship's satellite connection system?
  16. Prizes that are collected after you disembark need to be documented with hard copy. Anything else is sloppy business practice.
  17. Probably around 9:30. Any later would delay the boarding process for new passengers. There really is no relaxation that day. Breakfast times are normally moved earlier and service comes fairly quickly. The goal is to move you out. You then wait in one of the crowded waiting areas.
  18. Look carefully at the photo. The mirror on the right seems to double the sizer of the shelf. The shelf actually ends where the upper bar ends and appears split.
  19. If you wish you can tip. The 18% beverage charge is included with any beverage package including your children's drink package. Food service and room service is included with the crew appreciation which is paid for with the plus or premier fares or is charged daily to each person's (including youth) on board account. If you or your children are out and about I wouldn't concern myself with any additional tipping. Personally I do not carry around cash on board, and don't tip cash while out and about. I do normally tip for room service.
  20. All MRD's have the same menus with little difference in decor. Cello is on deck 6 aft. Access is from the aft stairs or elevators on deck 7 or above. There is no connection from this DR to mid ship on deck 6 or 5. To get to mid ship or forward you have to go to deck 7 or above and walk to mid ship. Cello is a larger DR. Soliel, deck 5 mid ship and Estrella, deck 6 mid ship are off the main Piazza area. They are the same and more convenient to other areas of the ship. Approximately half of Estrella DR is used for Club Class.
  21. You can pre-book excursions using any OBC that shows in your travel summary. Follow the procedure in post #3. Unless something has recently changed it is important to note that OBC when used to book excursions on line is calculated individually. Example: You wish to book an excursion for for two at a cost of $150 each. Person 1 has $300 OBC, person 2 has $50 OBC. When booking for person 1 $150 OBC will be used. When booking for person 2 $50 OBC will be used and $100 will be charged to the credit card. They way around this program problem is to actually call Princess. If you get the right person they can apply OBC for the entire $300. Please note that you can only use OBC to pre-book excursions, nothing else like specialty dining.
  22. No longer in offered. https://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/food-and-dining/dining-options.pdf
  23. This will be our 24th cruise, mainly in suites on Celebrity, but our first in a PH suite on the Royal Princess, on a 9 day cruise in March. We also have the Premier package. We have a few questions that we would appreciate some advice on. First, we expect to board as early as possible. Will our suite be ready when we board? It should be ready. If not totally ready you should be able to drop off your belongings in your cabin. Also where would be the best place for lunch after boarding? Club Class DR, Deck 6 mid ship. Other options can be found in this DR guide https://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/food-and-dining/dining-options.pdf Second, we understand that dinner in a specialty restaurant is included on the first night. Is this one of the two included dinners in specialty restaurants that are part of our package or is this in addition? Additional Third, we understand that a few mini bottles of liquor are provided in our suite on a one time basis. Do we get a choice as to what we like? The delivery is standard. Once in your cabin you can call room service and make exchanges. Standard is 8 x 50ml spirits, 2 bottles of beer plus 10 non alcoholic beverages. You can exchange alcoholic for alcoholic or non alcoholic and non alcoholic for non alcoholic. You can also exchange the entire mini bar for a bottle of wine. Fourth, the mini fridge is apparently stocked with extra cost items we probably will not need. Can we ask that it be emptied so we can just use it to store small bottles of water? The mini fridge should be filled with the canned sodas, beer and water from the mini bar set up. Should not be anything else in the fridge. Realize with your package you can get as much water as you like. Fifth, what brand of bath amenities are provided and are separate shampoo and conditioners included? Not sure of the brands, but suggest you may wish to bring your favorite brands of shampoo and conditioner. Last (for now) do they sell duty free Scotch on the ship and if so what brands are offered, and are the prices good? Prices are duty and tax free. Check out and compare with prices at the ports. Brands and supplies vary. It's easy to just walk into the shop and take a look. Tips: Don't forget to take advantage of the special full suite breakfast at Sabatini's each morning. It is way better than room service or the Club Class DR. One of the best full suite benefits. Check out the Concierge Lounge on deck 14 aft. If you wish to book the sanctuary go there directly when boarding to select your loungers. The sanctuary can get crowded on tropical cruises. Not sure.
  24. Do your reports have the account number at the top of each page? Mine does. What I have done in the past is include the page with my name and account number and the page showing the stock. I redact all information not relevant to Carnival.
  25. 1. Is the combined cruise significantly cheaper? Not Really. Unless you receive a really great price for the 14 day single booking I would stay with the two bookings. There is more flexibility. When booked as two booking numbers you will still receive only one final statement on final disembarkation day. 2. Do we retain our OBC for both directions on the B2B? Yes, credit balances (OBC) carry over from the first segment to the second. Any second segment OBC will be added when the second segment begins. Note that if you change to a single booking number the OBC and fare will be based on the single booking at that time. What you had on the two booking numbers will be gone. 3. Do we have to get off the ship in Whittier for either variation - one-way or B2B? This is the only U.S. itinerary I know of that you do not have to pass through immigration on turn around day. You will actually pass through U.S. immigration in Vancouver when you board. You most likely will not have to get off the ship, but you may wish to go ashore. 4. When should we expect to hear if we will get the combined trip and do we have the option to turn it down? Can't tell. But, as mentioned in point 1 I would stay with the two booking numbers AND have your bookings marked "no upgrade" so you remain in the same cabin you booked for both segments.
